Abstract:Put forward by Wang Guowei,and perfected by such 20th-century Aestheticians as Zhu Guangqian,Zong Baihua and Li Zehou,the theory of artistic vision has long been regarded as a key category of ancient Chinese poetics,and even labeled as a supreme artistic ideal of Chinese nation.This theory of artistic vision is,however,not indigenous in traditional Chinese aesthetics and poetics,but constructed by the mentioned scholars with an intellectual foundation of German aesthetic tradition.The development of the theory is basically following German tradition in such thematic matters as the unity between sensibility and rationality,subject and object,finite and infinite,as well as generality and particularity,which are unified basis of this theory.In its intellectual essence,the theory is a Chinese version of Germen aesthetics.Its modern construction is a part of the modernization of tradition for the purpose of re-establishing national cultural subjectivity,but in the process of its realization,this modernization of tradition has been turned into otherization of self,thus worsening the intellectual crisis in modern China.
