Abstract:For a kind of regime-switching jump diffusion process $$(X_t,Z_t)_{t\ge 0}$$ , under some conditions, it is exponentially ergodic under the weighted total variation distance with ergodic measure $$\mu $$ . We use the Euler–Maruyama scheme of the process $$(X_t,Z_t)_{t\ge 0}$$ which has an ergodic measure $$\mu _{\eta }$$ ( $$\eta $$ is the step size of the Euler–Maruyama scheme) to approximate the ergodic measure $$\mu $$ . Furthermore, we use Stein’s method to prove that the convergence rate of $$\mu _{\eta }$$ to $$\mu $$ is $$\eta ^{\frac{1}{2}}$$ in terms of some function-class distance $$d_{{\mathcal {G}}}(\mu ,\mu _{\eta })$$ .

Abstract:Let ( X_t,Z_t) _t≥ 0 be the regime-switching jump diffusion process with invariant measure μ . We aim to approximate μ using the Euler–Maruyama (EM) scheme with decreasing step sequence Γ =(γ _n)_n∈ℕ . Under some appropriate dissipative conditions and uniform ellipticity assumptions on the coefficients of the related stochastic differential equation (SDE), we show that the error between μ and the invariant measure associated with the EM scheme is bounded by O(√(γ _n)) . In particular, we derive a better convergence rate O(γ _n) for the additive case and the continuous case.

Abstract:Time change is one of the most basic and very useful transformations for Markov processes. The time changed process can also be regarded as the trace of the original process on the support of the Revuz measure used in the time change. In this paper we give a complete characterization of time changed processes of an arbitrary symmetric Markov process, in terms of the Beurling–Deny decomposition of their associated Dirichlet forms and of Feller measures of the process. In particular, we determine the jumping and killing measure (or, equivalently, the Levy system) for the time-changed process. We further discuss when the trace Dirichlet form for the time changed process can be characterized as the space of finite Douglas integrals defined by Feller measures. Finally, we give a probabilistic characterization of Feller measures in terms of the excursions of the base process.

Abstract:The operation of dynamic systems is often accompanied by abrupt and random changes in their configurations, which will dramatically change the stationary probability density function of their response. In this article, an effective procedure is proposed to reshape the stationary probability density function of nonlinear stochastic systems against abrupt changes. Based on the Markov jump theory, such a system is formulated as a continuous system with discrete Markov jump parameters. The limiting averaging principle is then applied to suppress the rapidly varying Markov jump process to generate a probability-weighted system. Then, the approximate expression of the stationary probability density function of the system is obtained, based on which the reshaping control law can be designed, which has two parts: (i) the first part (conservative part) is designed to make the reshaped system and the undisturbed system have the same Hamiltonian; (ii) the second (dissipative part) is designed so that the stationary probability density function of the reshaped system is the same as that of undisturbed system. The proposed law is exactly analytical and no online measurement is required. The application and effectiveness of the proposed procedure are demonstrated by using an example of three degrees-of-freedom nonlinear stochastic system subjected to abrupt changes.
Influence of Weak Measurement on Uncertainty Relations in a Quantum Dissipative System

Abstract:We investigate the influence of weak measurement on the quantum-memory-assisted entropic uncertainty relation and quantum speed limit time in a quantum dissipative system by making use of the hierarchical equations of motion method. It is demonstrated that the weak measurement and measurement reversal can suppress the entropic uncertainty during the evolution of the system, and we find a periodical crossover of the quantum speed limit time for different weak measurement strengths, which disappears when increasing the coupling strength. Similar influence of the weak measurement on uncertainty relations is then explored at the finite temperature. We also consider the effect of the counter-rotating-wave term and show that the rotating-wave approximation is an applicable approximation when studying quantum speed limit time but not appropriate when investigating the quantum-memory-assisted entropic uncertainty relation. The first one is to simulate the small jump part of a Lévy process by the classical rejection method, which can generate the exact sampling. Abstract:The occurrence‐50 of economic policies and other sudden and large shocks often bring out jumps in financial data, which can be characterized through continuous‐time jump‐diffusion model. In this article, we present the double smoothed non‐parametric approach for infinitesimal conditional volatility of jump‐diffusion model based on high frequency data. Under certain minimal conditions, we obtain the strong consistency and asymptotic normality for the estimator as the time span T → ∞ and the sample interval . The procedure and asymptotic behavior can be applied for both Harris recurrent and positive Harris recurrent processes. The finite sample properties of the underlying double smoothed volatility estimator are verified through Monte Carlo simulation and Shanghai Interbank Offered Rate in China for application.

Abstract:Systems whose specifications change abruptly and statistically, referred to as Markovian-jump systems, are considered in this paper. An approximate method is presented to assess the stationary response of multidegree, nonlinear, Markovian-jump, quasi-nonintegrable Hamiltonian systems subjected to stochastic excitation. Using stochastic averaging, the quasi-nonintegrable Hamiltonian equations are first reduced to a one-dimensional Itô equation governing the energy envelope. The associated Fokker–Planck–Kolmogorov equation is then set up, from which approximate stationary probabilities of the original system are obtained for different jump rules. The validity of this technique is demonstrated by using a nonlinear two-degree oscillator that is stochastically driven and capable of Markovian jumps.

Abstract:For a refracted spectrally negative Levy process, we find some new and fantastic formulas for its q-potential measures without killing. Unlike previous results, which are written in terms of the known q-scale functions, our formulas are free of the q-scale functions. This makes our results become extremely important since it is likely that our formulas also hold for a general refracted Levy process.

Abstract:Let (X,(X) over cap) be a pair of Borel standard processes on a Lusin space E that are in weak duality with respect to some or-finite measure m that has full support on E. Let F be a finely closed subset of E. In,this paper, we obtain the characterization of a Levy system of the time changed process of X by a positive continuous additive functional (PCAF in abbreviation) of X having support F, under the assumption that every m-semipolar set of X is m-polar for X. The characterization of the Levy system is in terms of Feller measures, which are intrinsic quantities for the part process of X killed upon leaving E \ F. Along the way, various relations between the entrance law, exit system, Feller measures and the distribution of the starting and ending point of excursions of X away from F are studied. We also show that the time changed process of X is a special standard process having a weak dual and that the mu-semipolar set of Y is mu-polar for Y, where mu is the Revuz measure for the PCAF used in the time change.

Abstract:We consider a refracted jump diffusion process having two-sided jumps with rational Laplace transforms. For such a process, by applying a straightforward but interesting approach, we derive formulae for the Laplace transform of its distribution. Our formulae are presented in an attractive form and the approach is novel. In particular, the idea in the application of an approximating procedure is remarkable. In addition, the results are used to price variable annuities with state-dependent fees.

More specifically, we provide certain general conditions under which an interacting particle system will have a reversible measure, gauge transformation, or ground state transformation. Additionally, we provide a method to prove that these conditions hold. This method uses certain quantum groups, and in that context the general conditions specialize to a $q$--exchangeable property.

Abstract:Measuring model risk is required by regulators on financial and insurance markets. We separate model risk into parameter estimation risk and model specification risk, and we propose expected shortfall type model risk measures applied to Levy jump models and affine jump-diffusion models. We investigate the impact of parameter estimation risk and model specification risk on the models' ability to capture the joint dynamics of stock and option prices. We estimate the parameters using Markov chain Monte Carlo techniques, under the risk-neutral probability measure and the real-world probability measure jointly. We find strong evidence supporting modeling of price jumps.

Abstract:<p>Time irreversibility, which characterizes nonequilibrium processes, can be measured based on the probabilistic differences between symmetric vectors. To simplify the quantification of time irreversibility, symmetric permutations instead of symmetric vectors have been employed in some studies. However, although effective in practical applications, this approach is conceptually incorrect. Time irreversibility should be measured based on the permutations of symmetric vectors rather than symmetric permutations, whereas symmetric permutations can instead be employed to determine the quantitative amplitude irreversibility – a novel parameter proposed in this paper for nonequilibrium calculated by means of the probabilistic difference in amplitude fluctuations. Through theoretical and experimental analyses, we highlight the strong similarities and close associations between the time irreversibility and amplitude irreversibility measures. Our paper clarifies the connections of and the differences between the two types of permutation-based parameters for quantitative nonequilibrium, and by doing so, we bridge the concepts of amplitude irreversibility and time irreversibility and broaden the selection of quantitative tools for studying nonequilibrium processes in complex systems.</p>

Stationary measures of continuous time Markov chains with applications to stochastic reaction networks

Abstract:We study continuous-time Markov chains on the non-negative integers under mild regularity conditions (in particular, the set of jump vectors is finite and both forward and backward jumps are possible). Based on the so-called flux balance equation, we derive an iterative formula for calculating stationary measures. Specifically, a stationary measure $\pi(x)$ evaluated at $x\in\mathbb{N}_0$ is represented as a linear combination of a few generating terms, similarly to the characterization of a stationary measure of a birth-death process, where there is only one generating term, $\pi(0)$. The coefficients of the linear combination are recursively determined in terms of the transition rates of the Markov chain. For the class of Markov chains we consider, there is always at least one stationary measure (up to a scaling constant). We give various results pertaining to uniqueness and non-uniqueness of stationary measures, and show that the dimension of the linear space of signed invariant measures is equal to the number of generating terms. A minimization problem is constructed in order to compute stationary measures numerically. Moreover, a heuristic linear approximation scheme is suggested for the same purpose by first approximating the generating terms. The correctness of the linear approximation scheme is justified in some special cases. Furthermore, a decomposition of the state space into different types of states (open and closed irreducible classes, and trapping, escaping and neutral states) is presented. Applications to stochastic reaction networks are well illustrated.
