Abstract:In this paper we shall first establish the theory of bivariate Revuz correspondence of positive additive functionals under a semi-Dirichlet form which is associated with a right Markov process X satisfying the sector condition but without duality. We extend most of the classical results about the bivariate Revuz measures under the duality assumptions to the case of semi-Dirichlet forms. As the main results of this paper, we prove that for any exact multiplicative functional M of X, the subprocess X M of X killed by M also satisfies the sector condition and we then characterize the semi-Dirichlet form associated with X M by using the bivariate Revuz measure, which extends the classical Feynman-Kac formula.

Abstract:A compactness of the Revuz map is established in the sense that the locally uniform convergence of a sequence of positive continuous additive functionals is derived in terms of their smooth measures. To this end, we first introduce a metric on the space of measures of finite energy integrals and show some structures of the metric. Then, we show the compactness and give some examples of positive continuous additive functionals that the convergence holds in terms of the associated smooth measures.

Abstract:Quasi-birth-and-death processes (QBDs) form a class of Markovian models with many applications in which the level-variable X ( t ) records the number of individuals in some system and a phase-variable φ ( t ) records some additional information about the system. We study the sensitivity of various performance measures of QBDs with respect to the perturbation of a generator matrix. Thereby, we extend the sensitivity analysis of level-dependent QBDs in Gomez-Corral and Lopez-Garcia[ Citation 4 ] and develop results with a focus on applications in modelling healthcare systems.

Abstract:We introduce a framework that allows to employ (non-negative) measure-valued processes for energy market modeling, in particular for electricity and gas futures. Interpreting the process' spatial structure as time to maturity, we show how the Heath-Jarrow-Morton approach can be translated to this framework, thus guaranteeing arbitrage free modeling in infinite dimensions. We derive an analog to the HJM-drift condition and then treat in a Markovian setting existence of non-negative measure-valued diffusions that satisfy this condition. To analyze mathematically convenient classes we build on Cuchiero et al. (2021) and consider measure-valued polynomial and affine diffusions, where we can precisely specify the diffusion part in terms of continuous functions satisfying certain admissibility conditions. For calibration purposes these functions can then be parameterized by neural networks yielding measure-valued analogs of neural SPDEs. By combining Fourier approaches or the moment formula with stochastic gradient descent methods, this then allows for tractable calibration procedures which we also test by way of example on market data. We also sketch how measure-valued processes can be applied in the context of renewable energy production modeling.

Abstract:In the article we consider the Levy processes and the corresponding semigroups. We represent the generators of these semigroups in convolution forms. Using the obtained convolution form and the theory of integral equations we investigate the properties of a wide class of Levy processes (potential, quasi-potential, the probability of the Levy process remaining within the given domain, long time behavior). We analyze in detail a number of concrete examples of the Levy processes (the stable processes, the variance damped Levy processes, the variance gamma processes, the normal Gaussian process, the Meixner process, the compound Poisson process.)

Abstract:For a refracted spectrally negative Levy process, we find some new and fantastic formulas for its q-potential measures without killing. Unlike previous results, which are written in terms of the known q-scale functions, our formulas are free of the q-scale functions. This makes our results become extremely important since it is likely that our formulas also hold for a general refracted Levy process.

Abstract:Let (X,(X) over cap) be a pair of Borel standard processes on a Lusin space E that are in weak duality with respect to some or-finite measure m that has full support on E. Let F be a finely closed subset of E. In,this paper, we obtain the characterization of a Levy system of the time changed process of X by a positive continuous additive functional (PCAF in abbreviation) of X having support F, under the assumption that every m-semipolar set of X is m-polar for X. The characterization of the Levy system is in terms of Feller measures, which are intrinsic quantities for the part process of X killed upon leaving E \ F. Along the way, various relations between the entrance law, exit system, Feller measures and the distribution of the starting and ending point of excursions of X away from F are studied. We also show that the time changed process of X is a special standard process having a weak dual and that the mu-semipolar set of Y is mu-polar for Y, where mu is the Revuz measure for the PCAF used in the time change.
Stationary measures of continuous time Markov chains with applications to stochastic reaction networks

Abstract:We study continuous-time Markov chains on the non-negative integers under mild regularity conditions (in particular, the set of jump vectors is finite and both forward and backward jumps are possible). Based on the so-called flux balance equation, we derive an iterative formula for calculating stationary measures. Specifically, a stationary measure $\pi(x)$ evaluated at $x\in\mathbb{N}_0$ is represented as a linear combination of a few generating terms, similarly to the characterization of a stationary measure of a birth-death process, where there is only one generating term, $\pi(0)$. The coefficients of the linear combination are recursively determined in terms of the transition rates of the Markov chain. For the class of Markov chains we consider, there is always at least one stationary measure (up to a scaling constant). We give various results pertaining to uniqueness and non-uniqueness of stationary measures, and show that the dimension of the linear space of signed invariant measures is equal to the number of generating terms. A minimization problem is constructed in order to compute stationary measures numerically. Moreover, a heuristic linear approximation scheme is suggested for the same purpose by first approximating the generating terms. The correctness of the linear approximation scheme is justified in some special cases. Furthermore, a decomposition of the state space into different types of states (open and closed irreducible classes, and trapping, escaping and neutral states) is presented. Applications to stochastic reaction networks are well illustrated.

Abstract:As well known, all functionals of a Markov process may be expressed in terms of the generator operator, modulo some analytic work. In the case of spectrally negative Markov processes however, it is conjectured that everything can be expressed in a more direct way using the $W$ scale function which intervenes in the two-sided first passage problem, modulo performing various integrals. This conjecture arises from work on Levy processes \cite{AKP,Pispot,APP,Iva,IP, ivanovs2013potential,AIZ,APY}, where the $W$ scale function has explicit Laplace transform, and is therefore easily computable; furthermore it was found in the papers above that a second scale function $Z$ introduced in \cite{AKP} greatly simplifies first passage laws, especially for reflected processes. This paper gathers a collection of first passage formulas for spectrally negative Parisian Lévy processes, expressed in terms of $W,Z$ which may serve as an "instruction kit" for computing quantities of interest in applications, for example in risk theory and mathematical finance. To illustrate the usefulness of our list, we construct a new index for the valuation of financial companies modeled by spectrally negative Lévy processes, based on a Dickson-Waters modifications of the de Finetti optimal expected discounted dividends objective. We offer as well an index for the valuation of conglomerates of financial companies. An implicit question arising is to investigate analog results for other classes of spectrally negative Markovian processes.

Abstract:Under the formalism of annealed averaging of the partition function, two types of random multifractal measures with their probability of multipliers satisfying power distribution and triangular distribution are investigated mathematically. In these two illustrations branching emerges in the curve of generalized dimensions, and more abnormally, negative values of generalized dimensions arise. Therefore, we classify the random multifractal measures into three classes based on the discrepancy between the curves of generalized dimensions. Other equivalent classifications are also presented.... We apply the cascade processes studied in this paper to characterize two stochastic processes, i.e., the energy dissipation field in fully developed turbulence and the droplet breakup in atomization. The agreement between the proposed model and the experiments are remarkable.

Abstract:This paper is concerned with periodic measures of fractional stochastic reaction-diffusion equations with variable time delay defined on unbounded domains. We first prove the existence of periodic measures of the Markov process associated with the equation by showing the weak compactness of distribution laws of a family of solutions based on the uniform estimates and the equicontinuity of solutions in probability. We then establish the regularity of periodic measures and prove the tightness of the set of all periodic measures of the equation for small noise intensity. As a result, any sequence of periodic measures possesses at least one limit point, and we further prove every such limit must be a periodic measure of the corresponding limiting system. Finally, under further assumptions on the nonlinear terms, we establish the uniqueness and the exponential mixing property of periodic measures in the sense of Wasserstein metric. All the results of the paper are also valid for invariant measures of the corresponding autonomous version of the stochastic equation with constant time delay. The idea of uniform tail estimates of solutions in probability is employed to overcome the difficulty introduced by the non-compactness of Sobolev embeddings on unbounded domains.

Abstract:Examples of stochastic processes whose state space representations involve functions of an integral type structure $$I_{t}^{(a,b)}:=\int_{0}^{t}b(Y_{s})e^{-\int_{s}^{t}a(Y_{r})dr}ds, \quad t\ge 0$$ are studied under an ergodic semi-Markovian environment described by an $S$ valued jump type process $Y:=(Y_{s}:s\in\mathbb{R}^{+})$ that is ergodic with a limiting distribution $\pi\in\mathcal{P}(S)$. Under different assumptions on signs of $E_{\pi}a(\cdot):=\sum_{j\in S}\pi_{j}a(j)$ and tail properties of the sojourn times of $Y$ we obtain different long time limit results for $I^{(a,b)}_{}:=(I^{(a,b)}_{t}:t\ge 0).$ In all cases mixture type of laws emerge which are naturally represented through an affine stochastic recurrence equation (SRE) $X\stackrel{d}{=}AX+B,\,\, X\perp\!\!\!\perp (A, B)$. Examples include explicit long-time representations of pitchfork bifurcation, and regime-switching diffusions under semi-Markov modulated environments, etc.

Abstract:In this paper, we establish a class of dynamic risk measures for evaluating discrete-time process. Our research is mostly concentrated on the properties of dynamic risk measures. The properties of risk measures in the static framework, are introduced into the dynamic risk measures framework. We present the conception of capital requirement for discrete-time process to measure the risk in the dynamic framework. In particular, four of axioms about dynamic risk measures have been proposed in the third section. We establish strong, middle and poor consistency properties to show our efforts in the mathematics description of the dynamic risk measure of discrete-time process

Abstract:Time change is one of the most basic and very useful transformations for Markov processes. The time changed process can also be regarded as the trace of the original process on the support of the Revuz measure used in the time change. In this paper we give a complete characterization of time changed processes of an arbitrary symmetric Markov process, in terms of the Beurling–Deny decomposition of their associated Dirichlet forms and of Feller measures of the process. In particular, we determine the jumping and killing measure (or, equivalently, the Levy system) for the time-changed process. We further discuss when the trace Dirichlet form for the time changed process can be characterized as the space of finite Douglas integrals defined by Feller measures. Finally, we give a probabilistic characterization of Feller measures in terms of the excursions of the base process.
Generators of measure-valued jump diffusions and convergence rate of diffusive mean-field models

Abstract:The paper has two objectives: proving that the rate of convergence in distribution for mean-field models in CLT regime is $N^{-1/2}$, and obtaining explicit expressions for the infinitesimal generators of two types of measure-valued Markov processes (conditional law of McKean-Vlasov processes, and empirical measures of McKean-Vlasov systems). The proof of the convergence of mean-field system requires the second result about the generators, and both results need to study a notion of differentiability of measure-variable functions know as linear differentiability. Due to the particular framework that is studied, many technical difficulties arise compared to the existing literature. Two of the main problems are the following ones: the CLT regime implies that the limit measure-valued processes are not deterministic, and the empirical measure processes related to McKean-Vlasov equations with jumps are necessarily discontinuous. Both properties make the expressions of the generators more complicated than what is usually considered.

Abstract:Radon-Nikodym (RN) derivative between two measures arises naturally in the affine structure of the space of probability measures with densities. Entropy, free energy, relative entropy, and entropy production as mathematical concepts associated with RN derivatives are introduced. We identify a simple equation that connects two measures with densities as a possible mathematical basis of the entropy balance equation that is central in nonequilibrium thermodynamics. Application of this formalism to Gibbsian canonical distribution yields many results in classical thermomechanics. An affine structure based on the canonical represenation and two divergences are introduced in the space of probability measures. It is shown that thermodynamic work, as a conditional expectation, is indictive of the RN derivative between two energy represenations being singular. The entropy divergence and the heat divergence yield respectively a Massieu-Planck potential based and a generalized Carnot inequalities.
