Abstract:In this paper, we show that those sequential products which were proposed by Liu and Shen and Wu in [J. Phys. A: Math. Theor. {\bf 42}, 185206 (2009), J. Phys. A: Math. Theor. {\bf 42}, 345203 (2009)] are just unitary equivalent to the sequential product $A\circ B=A^{\frac{1}{2}}BA^{\frac{1}{2}}$.

Abstract:A quantum effect is an operator A on a complex Hilbert space H that satisfies 0 <= A <= I, E(H) is the set of all quantum effects on H. In 2001, Professors Gudder and Nagy studied the sequential product A . B = A(1/2) BA(1/2) for A, B. E(H). In 2005, Professor Gudder asked: Is A. B = A(1/2) BA(1/2) the only sequential product on epsilon(H)? Recently, Liu and Wu have presented an example to show that the answer is negative. In this paper, first, we characterize some algebraic properties of the abstract sequential product on epsilon(H), second, we present a general method for constructing sequential products on epsilon(H) and, finally, we study some properties of the sequential products constructed by the method.

Abstract:In this paper, first, we answer affirmatively an open problem which was presented in 2005 by professor Gudder on the sub-sequential effect algebras. That is, we prove that if (E, 0, 1, circle plus, o) is a sequential effect algebra and A is a commutative subset of E, then the sub-sequential effect algebra (A) over bar generated by A is also commutative. Next, we also study the following uniqueness problem: If na = nb = c for some positive integer n >= 2, then under what conditions a = b hold? We prove that if c is a sharp element of E and a vertical bar b, then a = b. We give also two examples to show that neither of the above two conditions can be discarded.

Abstract:Sequential effect algebra is an important model for studying quantum measurement theory. In 2005, Professor Gudder presented 25 open problems to motivate its study. The 20th problem asked: In a sequential effect algebra, if the square root of some element exists, is it unique ? We can strengthen the problem as following: For each given positive integer n > 1, is there a sequential effect algebra such that the n-th root of its some element c is not unique and the n-th root of c is not the k-th root of c (k < n) ? In this paper, we answer the strengthened problem affirmatively.

Abstract:Our basic concept is the set $\mathcal{E}(H)$ of effects on a finite dimensional complex Hilbert space $H$. If $a,b\in\mathcal{E}(H)$, we define the sequential product $a[\mathcal{I}]b$ of $a$ then $b$. The sequential product depends on the operation $\mathcal{I}$ used to measure $a$. We begin by studying the properties of this sequential product. It is observed that $b\mapsto a[\mathcal{I}]b$ is an additive, convex morphism and we show by examples that $a\mapsto a[\mathcal{I}]b$ enjoys very few conditions. This is because a measurement of $a$ can interfere with a later measurement of $b$. We study sequential products relative to Kraus, Lüders and Holevo operations and find properties that characterize these operations. We consider repeatable effects and conditions on $a[\mathcal{I}]b$ that imply commutativity. We introduce the concept of an effect $b$ given an effect $a$ and study its properties. We next extend the sequential product to observables and instruments and develop statistical properties of real-valued observables. This is accomplished by employing corresponding stochastic operators. Finally, we introduce an uncertainty principle for conditioned observables.

Abstract:Our basic structure is a finite-dimensional complex Hilbert space $H$. We point out that the set of effects on $H$ form a convex effect algebra. Although the set of operators on $H$ also form a convex effect algebra, they have a more detailed structure. W introduce sequential products of effect and operations. Although these have already been studied, we introduce the new concept of sequential products of effects with operations and operations with effects. We then consider various special types of operations. After developing properties of these concepts, the results are generalized to include observables and instruments. In particular, sequential products of observables with instruments and instruments with observables are developed. Finally, we consider conditioning and coexistence of observables and instruments.

Abstract:We present a unified treatment of sequential measurements of two conjugate observables. Our approach is to derive a mathematical structure theorem for all the relevant covariant instruments. As a consequence of this result, we show that every Weyl-Heisenberg covariant observable can be implemented as a sequential measurement of two conjugate observables. This method is applicable both in finite and infinite dimensional Hilbert spaces, therefore covering sequential spin component measurements as well as position-momentum sequential measurements.

A Simple Continuation for Partial Sums

Abstract:In 2014, Ibrahim M Alabdulmohsin wrote a paper called "Summability Calculus" where he developed a method to generalize sigma notation to non-integer upper bounds. His paper included a theorem, known as Theorem 6.1.1 (denoted here as Lemma 2.1 because of its simplicity and location in this paper), but doesn't study it much. Another paper by Mueller and Schleicher also analyzed this formula, but doesn't integrate or differentiate the formula and states some specific applications. This paper will analyze the simple formula that generalizes sigma notation to non-integer upper and lower bounds. We state and prove this formula in Section 2. Section 3 states a few algebraic properties for the sum and product formulae and shows how differentiation of sums and products works. Because integrating a product is challenging, we only analyze the integration of sums in the fourth part of Section 3. In Section 4 we apply the formula in the second section to create analytic continuations for functions defined as partial sums, formulate an infinite series representation to any limit, create a great approximation for functions that approach a certain limit, make an analytic continuation for products, and calculate the sum of anti-derivatives. We then conclude with a discussion of the material of this paper.

Quantum wreath products and Schur-Weyl duality I

Abstract:In this paper the authors introduce a new notion called the quantum wreath product, which is the algebra $B \wr_Q \mathcal{H}(d)$ produced from a given algebra $B$, a positive integer $d$, and a choice $Q=(R,S,\rho,\sigma)$ of parameters. Important examples {that arise from our construction} include many variants of the Hecke algebras, such as the Ariki-Koike algebras, the affine Hecke algebras and their degenerate version, Wan-Wang's wreath Hecke algebras, Rosso-Savage's (affine) Frobenius Hecke algebras, Kleshchev-Muth's affine zigzag algebras, and the Hu algebra that quantizes the wreath product $\Sigma_m \wr \Sigma_2$ between symmetric groups. In the first part of the paper, the authors develop a structure theory for the quantum wreath products. Necessary and sufficient conditions for these algebras to afford a basis of suitable size are obtained. Furthermore, a Schur-Weyl duality is established via a splitting lemma and mild assumptions on the base algebra $B$. Our uniform approach encompasses many known results which were proved in a case by case manner. The second part of the paper involves the problem of constructing natural subalgebras of Hecke algebras that arise from wreath products. Moreover, a bar-invariant basis of the Hu algebra via an explicit formula for its extra generator is also described.

Abstract:We investigate products of certain double cosets for the symmetric group and use the findings to derive some multiplication formulas for q-Schur superalgebras. This gives a combinatorialisation of the relative norm approach developed by the first two authors. We then give several applications of the multiplication formulas, including the matrix representation of the regular representation and a semisimplicity criterion for q-Schur superalgebras. We also construct infinitesimal and little q-Schur superalgebras directly from the multiplication formulas and develop their semisimplicity criteria.

Abstract:In this paper, we studied the general formula of normal product calculation for boson exponential quadratic operators (EQO) which is first obtained by WANG et al. [J. Phys. A: Math. Gen. 27 (1994) 6563]. It is shown that the boundness of boson EQO will result in a restriction on the applicable bounds of this formula. According to the restriction condition, the conclusion about unity operator given by MA et al. [Commun. Theor. Phys. (Beijing, China) 21 (1994) 119] should be made some corresponding corrections. At last, we extended this formula to the case of fermion for the convenience of later applications.

Abstract:We introduce sequential warped product submanifolds of Kaehler manifolds, provide examples and establish Chen's inequality for such submanifolds. The equality case is also studied. Moreover, by inspiring Lawson and Simons's integral currrent's theorem on a submanifold, we find a similar pinching inequality for a sequential warped product submanifold and obtain geometric results when the equality case is satisfied.

Abstract:In this paper, we study similarity, unitary equivalence and reducing subspace problems of multiplication operators with symbols of finite Blaschke products on the Bergman space L-a(2)(D). By using Rudin's method, we establish a representation theorem of L-a(2)-functions related to a given finite Blaschke product. As an immediate consequence, one sees that for two finite Blaschke products B-1, B-2, M-B1 is similar to M-B2 if and only if deg B-1 = deg B-2. By a different method, this similarity result also was independently obtained by Jiang and Li. Then we turn to the study of reducing subspaces of multiplication operators. It is shown that if B is a finite Blaschke product with deg B <= 6, then the number of minimal reducing subspaces of M-B is at most deg B. The best previous known results were for the cases of deg B = 2, 3, 4.

Abstract:Recently, Ono and the third author discovered that the reciprocals of the theta series $(q;q)_\infty^3$ and $(q^2;q^2)_\infty(q;q^2)_\infty^2$ have infinitely many closed formulas in terms of MacMahon's quasimodular forms $A_k(q)$ and $C_k(q)$. In this article, we use the well-known infinite product identities due to Jacobi, Watson, and Hirschhorn to derive further such closed formulas for reciprocals of other interesting infinite products. Moreover, with these formulas, we approximate these reciprocals to arbitrary order simply using MacMahon's functions and {\it MacMahon type} functions. For example, let $\Theta_{6}(q):=\frac{1}{2}\sum_{n\in\mathbb{Z}} \chi_6(n) n q^{\frac{n^2-1}{24}}$ be the theta function corresponding to the odd quadratic character modulo $6$. Abstract:The tendency of semidefinite programs to compose perfectly under product has been exploited many times in complexity theory: for example, by Lovasz to determine the Shannon capacity of the pentagon; to show a direct sum theorem for non-deterministic communication complexity and direct product theorems for discrepancy; and in interactive proof systems to show parallel repetition theorems for restricted classes of games. Despite all these examples of product theorems--some going back nearly thirty years--it was only recently that Mittal and Szegedy began to develop a general theory to explain when and why semidefinite programs behave perfectly under product. This theory captured many examples in the literature, but there were also some notable exceptions which it could not explain--namely, an early parallel repetition result of Feige and Lovasz, and a direct product theorem for the discrepancy method of communication complexity by Lee, Shraibman, and Spalek. We extend the theory of Mittal and Szegedy to explain these cases as well. Indeed, to the best of our knowledge, our theory captures all examples of semidefinite product theorems in the literature.

Abstract:We construct quantum supersymmetric pairs $({\bold U},{\bold U}^\imath)$ of type AIII and elucidate their fundamental properties. An $\imath$Schur duality between the $\imath$quantum supergroup ${\bold U}^\imath$ and the Hecke algebra of type B acting on a tensor space is established, providing a super generalization of the $\imath$Schur duality of type AIII. Additionally, we construct a (quasi) $K$-matrix for arbitrary parameters, which facilitates the realization of the Hecke algebra action on the tensor space.

Compatibility of Drinfeld presentations for split affine Kac-Moody quantum symmetric pairs

Abstract:Let $(\mathbf{U}, \mathbf{U}^\imath)$ be a split affine quantum symmetric pair of type $\mathsf{B}_n^{(1)}, \mathsf{C}_n^{(1)}$ or $\mathsf{D}_n^{(1)}$. We prove factorization and coproduct formulae for the Drinfeld-Cartan operators $\Theta_i(z)$ in the Lu-Wang Drinfeld-type presentation, generalizing the type $\mathsf{A}_n^{(1)}$ result from [Prz23]. As an application, we show that a boundary analogue of the $q$-character map, defined via the spectra of these operators, is compatible with the usual $q$-character map. As an auxiliary result, we also produce explicit reduced expressions for the fundamental weights in the extended affine Weyl groups of classical types.

Abstract:Given a quantized enveloping algebra $U_q(\mathfrak g)$ and a pair of dominant weights ($\lambda$, $\mu$), we extend a conjecture raised by Lusztig in \cite{Lusztig:1992}to a more general form and then prove this extended Lusztig's conjecture. Namely we prove that for any symmetrizable Kac-Moody algebra $\mathfrak g$, there is a composition series of the $U_q(\mathfrak g)$-module $V(\lambda)\otimes V(\mu)$ compatible with the canonical basis. As a byproduct, the celebrated Littlewood-Richardson rule is derived and we also construct, in the same manner, a composition series of $V(\lambda)\otimes V(-\mu)$ compatible with the canonical basis when $\mathfrak g$ is of affine type and the level of $\lambda-\mu$ is nonzero.
