Reproductive Performance of Boer Goats

Abstract:The reproductive performance of Boer goats was observed systematically in this study.The age of sex maturity of Boer goats was later than some small goat breeds in the country,so Boer goat should be classified to earlier-maturity breed.There were some differences in the age of sex maturity,ejaculate volume and sperm quality between different disposition bucks.The reproductive performance of steady bucks was better than others.The mating preference of Boer bucks not only depended on scent,but also depended on visual image.Some of Boer bucks excluded outsiders(for example,dairy goats or wool goats).The amount of kids born by does which had had tridymus at firstborn for five years was 7.45 more than that born by does which had had one kid at firstborn and 4.55 more than that born by does which had had twin kids in firstborn.The reproductive peaks of bucks and does appeared in three years old.The treatment effect of super-ovulation of 2~4 years old does was better than others.
