Abstract:This note presents a simple approach to analyze robust D-stability for Uncertain continuous-time singular systems with state delay and structured Uncertainties. Sufficient conditions, which are computationally simple, and need not calculate the eigenvalues of the system, are proposed to ensure that the Uncertain continuous-time singular delay system is regular, impulse free and D-stable, that is, all its finite poles are located within it specified disk. Two numerical examples are given to demonstrate the application of the proposed method.

Abstract:The differential equations involving two discrete delays are helpful in modeling two different processes in one model. We provide the stability and bifurcation analysis in the fractional order delay differential equation $D^\alpha x(t)=a x(t)+b x(t-\tau)-b x(t-2\tau)$ in the $ab$-plane. Various regions of stability include stable (S), unstable (U), single stable region (SSR), and stability switch (SS). In the stable region, the system is stable for all the delay values. The region SSR has a critical value of delay that bifurcates the stable and unstable behavior. Switching of stable and unstable behaviors is observed in the SS region.

A New Approach for Stability Analysis of 1-D Wave Equation with Time Delay

Abstract:In our manuscript, we develop a new approach for stability analysis of one-dimensional wave equation with time delay. The major contribution of our work is to develop a new method for spectral analysis. We derive sufficient and necessary conditions for the feedback gain and time delay which guarantee the exponential stability of the closed-loop system. Comparing with similar conditions developed in the past literatures, we discuss all the situation when the time delay is positive, including when it is irrational. We prove that the exponential stability can be achieved if and only if the time delay is an even number. We also get the general formula term of the stability region of the coupling gain for different even multiples of time delay, and from this we easily obtain the shrink of the stability region as time delay increases. In addition, we explore the impact of slight perturbations in time delay on high frequency robustness.

Abstract:This article considers the problem of delay-dependent stability analysis for a class of discrete-time singular systems with Markovian jump and time-varying delay. The transition probabilities in Markov chain are assumed to be partially unknown. In terms of linear matrix inequality approach, the delay-dependent criteria are proposed to ensure the underlying system to be regular, causal and stochastically stable. Several numerical examples are given to demonstrate the effectiveness and less conservatism of the obtained results.

Abstract:The stability problem of fuzzy large-scale systems with time delays in interconnections is considered in this paper. The fuzzy large-scale system consists of J interconnected subsystems, which are represented by Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy models. The stability conditions are derived using the Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional approach. This condition is independent of time delay and does not need the solution of a Lyapunov equation or Riccati equation. A stabilization approach for the delayed fuzzy large-scale systems through fuzzy state feedback-based controller is also presented in this paper. Finally, an example is given to demonstrate the result.

By using some algebraic criteria, the "complete discrimination system for polynomials" and Hurwitz criterion, on-line determining bifurcation's occurrence can be realized. The methods unify and generalize the relevant results in the literature.

Abstract:This paper is devoted to the study of delay-dependent stability of time-varying delay systems. A delay-derivative-partitioning approach is proposed. By constructing an augmented Lyapunov functional that contains two delay-product-dependent terms and using the delay-derivative-partitioning approach, an improved stability condition is established. The derived condition is described as a set of linear matrix inequalities, which can be readily implemented. Finally, four examples are carried out so as to attest the effect and merit of the presented approach.

Abstract:This manuscript deals with the stability and bifurcation analysis of the equation $D^{2\alpha}x(t)+c D^{\alpha}x(t)=a x(t)+b x(t-\tau)$, where $0<\alpha<1$ and $\tau>0$. We sketch the boundaries of various stability regions in the parameter plane under different conditions on $\alpha$ and $b$. First, we provide the stability analysis of this equation with $\tau=0$. Change in the stability of the delayed counterpart is possible only when the characteristic roots cross the imaginary axis. This leads to various delay-independent as well as delay-dependent stability results. The stability regions are bifurcated on the basis of the following behaviors with respect to the delay $\tau$ viz. stable region for all $\tau>0$, unstable region, single stable region, stability switch, and instability switch.

Delay-dependent Stability Criteria for LTI Systems with Multiple Time Delays

Abstract:Based on the argument principle, a method is proposed to derive delay-dependent stability criteria without any conservatism for LTI (linear time invariant) systems with multiple time delays. Because the characteristic polynomial of a LTI system with multiple time delays is analytic in the whole complex plane, we use the argument principle to judge whether the characteristic equation has roots in the right-half complex plane. We construct a new function based on the characteristic polynomial so as that the criteria take a straightforward form, and can be used conveniently. The criteria can be considered as a generalized Nyquist criterion. The criteria are sufficient and necessary for the stability of the system. The method involves no symbol calculation so as that can deal easily with the systems of which the orders and time delays are more than 3. The example case study shows that the criteria can judge whether a LTI system is stable exactly, for any given time delays.

Abstract:In this paper, we discuss the asymptotic stability of the trajectories governed by the scalar delay differential inequalities: D+x(t)≤−a(t)x(t)+b(t)sup0≤s≤τ̄x(t−s). Here, the requirements on a(t) and b(t) are more relaxed than those in previous works. For example, a(t), b(t), and a(t)−b(t) are not necessarily nonnegative. We prove that when τ̄ is small, the asymptotic stability of x(t) can be obtained if the time average of a(t)−b(t) on some fixed length T is lower bounded by some positive δ. And we explicitly give the upper bound of τ̄. We also give two applications of the theoretical results. First, we consider self synchronization in Hopfield networks with time varying connections. Then we investigate consensus in networks with time varying topologies and arbitrary coupling weights. In both applications, we extend some of our previous works where time delays are not considered. At last, two numerical examples with simulations are provided to illustrate the effectiveness of the theoretical results.

Abstract:In this paper, a class of two-delay differential equations with coefficient-dependent delay is studied. The distribution of the roots of the eigenequation is discussed, and conditions for the stability of the internal equilibrium and the existence of Hopf bifurcation are obtained. Additionally, using the normal form method and the central manifold theory, the bifurcation direction and the stability for the periodic solution of Hopf bifurcation are calculated. Finally, the correctness of the theory is verified by numerical simulation.

Abstract:A version of the Floquet theory for first order delay differential equations is proposed. Formula of solutions representation is obtained. On this basis, the stability of first order delay differential equations is studied. An analogue of the classical integral Lyapunov–Zhukovskii test of stability is proved. New, in comparison with all known, tests of the exponential stability are obtained on the basis of the Floquet theory. A possibility to achieve the exponential stability is connected with oscillation of solutions.

Abstract:In this paper, the profile and stability of alternating wave solution, which arises as a bifurcated periodic solution of equivariant Hopf bifurcation with amazing properties, are investigated for a Stuart-Landau system consisting of three oscillators. The method of multiple scales is used to compute the normal form equation up to fifth order. The Floquet theory is introduced because it is difficult to directly analyze the stability of the alternating wave solution. By applying a time-varying complex coordinate transformation which does not change the stability of the solution of normal form that represents the alternating wave, the multipliers that completely determine the stability of alternating wave solution are explicitly solved. As a result, the criteria on parameters such that stable alternating wave solutions can be observed are provided. Based on studies through examples, we show that the proposed scheme of analysis is effective and some results on how parameters influence the stability of the alternating wave solution can be summarized. Our analysis confirms Golubitsky's assertion that the alternating wave solution will not be stable immediately after the equivariant Hopf bifurcation. We also find that a large time delay and a complex nonlinear gain will enhance the stability of alternating wave solution.

Abstract:This paper investigates the analytical stability region and the asymptotic stability of linear fractional neutral delay differential equations. Employing boundary locus techniques, the stability region of this problem is analyzed. Furthermore, we derive the fundamental solution of linear fractional neutral delay differential equations, and prove the exponential boundedness, the asymptotic stability and the algebraic decay rate. Finally, numerical tests are conducted to verify the theoretical results.

Abstract:Bounded-input bounded-output stability condition of linear time invariant (LTI) distributed-order system over integral interval (0,1) has been established for the first time. Two cases about weighting function of the distributed order are investigated, and sufficient and necessary conditions of stability for these two types of distributed-order systems are derived. Based on the complex integration analysis, time-domain responses of distributed-order systems are also given by analytical method, and numerical examples are presented to illustrate the proposed conditions.

Abstract:The objective of the manuscript is to build coupled singular fractional-order differential equations with time delay. To study the underline problem, an integral representation is initially discussed and the operator form of the solution is investigated using various supplementary hypotheses. Also, the existence and uniqueness of the considered problem are investigated by using the Lebesgue-dominated convergence theorem and some analysis results. Moreover, the stability analysis to determine the nature of the proposed model's solution is examined. Finally, two supportive examples are provided to demonstrate our analysis as applications.
