Abstract:Theories on Guanxi being developed and improved becomes the focus for researchers in the fields of sociology,psychology,management and anthropology.Guanxi acts with cultural,transferable,reciprocal,intangible,utilitarian and long-term characteristics.Guanxi is formed with cultural,political and social reasons.Guanxi is influenced by organizational,strategic,institutional and individual factors.The outcomes of Guanxi are performance improvement,individual knowledge transferring and trust increasing.According to domestic and foreign literatures,this paper reviews Guanxi researchs and points out the future research directions.

Abstract:In the age of globalization along with more frequent cross-cultural interactions, the importance of translation cannot be understated. Translation plays a vital role in facilitating intercultural communication between different countries and cultures. Through translation, people can understand and learn the culture, history, traditions and customs of other countries. Therefore, this paper explores the influence of Chinese and English cultural customs and translation through the study of literature and case studies. It is found that cultural practices have a great impact on language shaping and expression, and there are many difficulties in translating culture-specific terms and cultural customs. In order to better realize the communication and diffusion of cultures and translate effectively, translators need to be sensitive to cultural differences and thoroughly research the similarities and differences among cultures.

Abstract:In this paper the author provides a detailed analysis of some issues concerning researches of global culture——its cau- ses, modernity and consequences. In addition, the author challenges the generally accepted notion that globalization is a process of western culture. The author argues that the development of national cultures in today's world will form the real basis of global culture, and that scholars should not regard national cultures as opposite to global culture, because only when national cultures have been developing flourishingly can global culture possess its solid foundation. Therefore, interaction between national cultures and global culture will play an immeasurably important role in the formation of a new pattern of global culture and exert an enor-mous effect on the harmonious development of the world.

Abstract:In the context of globalization, different national cultures compete, reject, collide and merge in the process of communication, but these will ultimately be reflected on the issue of cultural identity. With the development and implementation of the ＂going out＂ strategy of Chinese culture, foreign translation of traditional Chinese culture has become increasingly important and urgent. From the perspective of self-cultural identity and cultural identity, this article quotes examples of ancient, modern and modern traditional cultural translation, and uses the academic ideological results of related disciplines as the inheritance and development of previous studies, and uses this as a guide. It also investigates and researches the bidirectional development of cultural identity in the context of traditional cultural translation. We intend to grasp the inherent relationship between the two-way nature of traditional cultural translation and cultural identity in order to better explain the practice of traditional Chinese cultural translation, reduce the misunderstanding of traditional Chinese culture in western countries, enhance the external appeal of traditional culture, and serve the world Accumulation of knowledge.

Abstract:With the 'culture turn' and 'spatial turn',the past three decades have witnessed a shift from the 'old' super-organic view of culture to the critical 'new' one in the literature of human geography.This paper examines the three core concepts which are culture,meaning and representation,as well as its background.According to the new cultural geography,culture is not an intrinsic,unified whole,but composes of different practice of representation by different power conflict.Examining meaning is the main purpose of this study.How to interpret meaning in power and social relations becomes the central issue.Representation is what the landscape appears to the human and its multiple forms-the words and images-and scales have become the central topics in the study.Furthermore,the authors classify the epistemologies into five schools.Social Marxism which relies on the art historic iconography regards the landscape as a veil.Its duplicity lies in covering the hidden ideology,and the method including the art historic iconography.Later North American Marxists understands it as an unfinished product in the process of capitalism production and a form of social regulation.Thus,they offered a wider and deeper theory than Cosgrove and Daniels'.Based on linguistic post-structuralism,cultural landscape analyzes as text.Its meaning is created during inter-textual communication.UK-based cultural geographers stress cultures of landscape.In the realm of everyday landscape practices,regulatory processes and cultural discourses,it draws upon Michel Foucault's view of subject and discourse,so landscape can be regarded as shuttle.Feminists and post-colonists criticize landscape studies as a way of seeing and treat it as a gaze upon the land,a dominant way to the Others' world,and the eyes swing between the open rationality and the latent visual pleasure.Furthermore,from the perspective of nationality,landscape also contributes to the communism and the sharing particular landscape and history help to establish collective identity.Within the shifts of the ontology and epistemology,the 'new' cultural geography changes to cultural politics and landscape moves from a naturally given one to a politically contested one.The turn has brought other social scientific and humanistic disciplines into the study of cultural geography and attracted increasingly attention cross the boundary of discipline.

Abstract:The idea that the common ancestor of the human family originated on the African continent about 7 to 5 million years ago is not much disputed by the academic community. However, humans who originated from the same place are nowadays very different. Due to historical origins, customs and living environment, not only are there huge differences in skin color, physique and appearance, but also cultural differences. As the saying goes, one side of the land nurtures one side of the people, and the difference in the geographical environment makes people from different regions not only different from other regions in terms of physiology but also significantly different in terms of culture and psychology. In this paper, we start with the difference in the geographical environment and analyze its influence on the religious, written aspects and science of Eastern and Western cultures. Thus, the conclusion that geographical differences are the root cause of the cultural differences between East and West is drawn to promote economic and cultural exchanges between East and West, and thus better promote the development of world culture.

Abstract:As a bridge of cultural communication, translation is not only the transformation between different words, but also the collision of different languages in the way of thinking, cultural background and cognitive style. Many scholars have carried out a large number of translations from the perspective of cross linguistic activity. However Nida even claims that “for truly successful translating, biculturalism is even more important than bilingualism”. Therefore, this thesis will focus on analyzing the influence of cultural difference between Chinese and English on translation.

Abstract:The purpose of this paper is to provide a discussion of some of the basic differences and similarities between the Chinese and Western traditions of translation. After analysing some of the major findings about what is shared and what is unshared between the two traditions, as well as what lies beneath these differences and similarities, four basic conclusions are made; namely, (a) comparative translation studies is important and should be fully developed; (b) the differences between the Chinese and Western translation traditions are necessarily conditioned by differences in their broader socio-cultural framework; (c) quite similar ideas have been produced over the centuries between China and the West, which may be regarded as elements of ‘universality' as the most outstanding feature of theoretical discussions about translation across language-cultures; and most importantly, (d) an understanding of Chinese-Western differences and similarities should help create a meaningful environment in which translators and translation theorists from different traditions can draw upon one another's experiences. The rationale of the discussion is that by bringing culturally disparate translation traditions such as the Chinese and Western into comparison, important insights may be gained about the nature of translation and translation studies in general.

Cultural Approaches to Translation Studies in Western and Chinese Translatologies

Abstract:By analyzing and comparing the sources and features of cultural approaches to translation studies in China and in Western countries, this article discusses research targets, methodologies and problems of cultural research in Chinese translatology. It points out that new theories, including Western translation theories, broadens the horizon of China's translation studies while, at the same time, cultural research in China's translation studies must be based on China's own conditions and aim at solving China's own practical problems. In this respect, it suggests that Chinese researchers pay more attention to descriptive studies as well as proper assessment and analysis of translation activities and products.

Abstract:In the situation of gradual globalization, communication and interaction between various languages and conventions have become more frequent. The reflection of the difference between Chinese and Western thinking in linguistic and cultural diversity has become more apparent and essential. By doing this, people can have a further comprehension of the values, cognitive styles, and social habits behind different cultures and languages. In recent research, it has been shown that there are differences in language expression between China and the West, as well as differences in personal values and time. The author would like to research the differences between Chinese and Western ways of thinking in language, the differences in social etiquette and ways of interacting with the different values and cognitive styles. The purpose of the research is to assist people better cope with the challenges of cultural conflicts and exchanges and to foster mutual cooperation among different cultures. The research method used in this paper is the literature review, and the significance of the research is that it not only can help people better cope with and conform to this difference in thinking between China and the West, but it also improves the international communication capacity of future students.

Abstract:With the advancement of technology and the societies, cross-cultural communication among diverse cultures has become increasingly frequent, which promotes the mutual learning of different cultures. Meanwhile, the cross-cultural misunderstandings and conflicts caused by cultural differences will continue to increase, resulting in cultural barriers. Hence, there is a growing sense of urgency that we need to enhance our understandings of people among different cultures and ethnic backgrounds which is conducive to eliminating cultural misconceptions. This study focuses upon the cultural differences in social hierarchy, interpersonal relationship, human-nature relationship as well as sense of time between China and the West from the perspective of Hofstede’s cultural dimension theory, whose aim is to trace back to the roots of cultural differences, thus eliminating cultural misunderstandings to a certain extent and facilitating cultural exchanges between China and the West.

Abstract:The purpose of this study was to examine how culture shapes creativity by reviewing empirical findings across diverse studies. The impact of culture on creativity is typically manifested in three ways: (1) people from different cultures or settings have distinct implicit and/or explicit conceptions of creativity; (2) individuals from different cultures, particularly those from individualist and collectivist cultures, show differences in preferred creative processes and creative processing modes (e.g., usefulness seems more important than novelty in the East, whereas novelty seems equally important as usefulness, if not more so, in the West) when they are engaged in creative endeavors; (3) creativity may be assessed using different measures based on culture-related contents or materials, and findings are accurate only when culturally appropriate or culturally fair measures are used. Potential implications and future directions are also proposed.

Abstract:Original classic is cultural core with the most generative power for a nation’s development. Its spiritual value will fully expose in the challenge of mundane affairs. The pursuit and acceptance of original classic in western literature continuously stimulate its people’s imagination and take an active part in the construction of contemporary value in its society because of its deep-rooted tradition of Hebraic and Hellenism and strong religious background. The traditions of Hebraic and Hellenism play an important and positive role even in the context of late modern society. But Chinese original classic is often hammered in history and suffers a considerable decline in the twentieth century because of era events in the society and the defects of cultural origin. There are many evidences in contemporary historical novels especially in the newly-written ones. This paper discusses the different significances and spiritual interpretations of Chinese and Western original classic in their contemporary literatures.
