Abstract:Algal polysaccharide composite gel is a type of plant gel containing mainly algal polysaccharide extracted from marine Rhodophyte and plant cellulose, and an important material in pharmaceutical industry. To improve the film-formation performance and determine optimal technical parameters, dissolution temperature, gel ingredient, dissolu- tion equilibrium time, and viscosity variation were studied. Algal polysaccharide empty capsules were produced in immer- sion shaping technique as well as conventional gelatin capsulation. Performance and characteristics of disintegration and dissolution rate (ibuprofen as standard drug) of algal polysaccharide composite film were compared and evaluated with those of gelatin film.
