Abstract:The title compound, [Ni(NCS)(C6H6N4S2)(CH4O)]Cl, consists of an Ni-II complex cation and a Cl- anion. The Ni-II complex has an octahedral coordination, with the isothiocyanate and methanol ligands in cis positions. The diaminobithiazole ligands are each nearly planar, but the Ni-II atom is out of the planes of the thiazole rings, the deviations ranging from 0.113 (5) to 0.389 (4) Angstrom.

Abstract:The Ni-II atom in the crystal structure of the title compound, [NiCl2(C6H6N4S2)(2)].2H(2)O, has a distorted cis-octahedral coordination, formed by two Cl atoms [Ni-Cl 2.4767 (17) and 2.4922 (17) Angstrom] and four N atoms of two chelate bithiazole ligands [Ni-N 2.069 (5)-2.138 (5) Angstrom]. The overlapped arrangement and short separation between parallel thiazole rings belonging to neighbouring complexes [3.47 (3) Angstrom] suggest the existence of pi-pi stacking interactions. Short intermolecular S...S contacts [3.183 (3) Angstrom] are also observed. The water molecules are involved in hydrogen bonds with the Cl ligands.

Abstract:The title compound, [Ni2(C7H5O3)4(C7H6N2)4][Ni(C7H5O3)2(C7H6N2)2]·6H2O, is a mononuclear/dinuclear nickel(II) cocrystal, the two molecular species interacting through hydrogen bonds that involve the uncoordinated water molecules. In the mononuclear species, the NiII ion, located on an inversion center, is coordinated by two 1H-benzimidazole (bzim) ligands and two 3-hydroxybenzoate (hba) anions in a square-planar geometry. In the centrosymmetric dinuclear species, the NiII ion is coordinated by two bzim ligands and three hba anions in a square-pyramidal geometry; of the two independent hba anions, one bridges two NiII ions with both carboxylate and hydroxyl groups whereas the other coordinates in a unidentate manner to the NiII ion. The apical Ni—Ohydroxyl bond is 0.39 Å longer than the basal Ni—Ocarboxyl bonds. The face-to-face separation of 3.326 (9) Å indicates the existence of π–π stacking between parallel bzim ligands of adjacent dinuclear entities. Extensive N—H...O and O—H...O hydrogen bonds help to stabilize the crystal structure.

Abstract:In the crystal structure of the title NiII complex, [Ni(C6H4NO3)2(C3H4N2)2], the NiII atom is located on a twofold rotation axis and is chelated by two oxidopyridiniumcarboxylate anions and further cis-coordinated by two imidazole ligands in a distorted cis-N2O4 octahedral geometry. The C—O bond distance of 1.2573 (19) Å found for the non-coordinating O atom of the carboxylate group indicates significant delocalization of π-electron density over this residue. Similarly, the C—O bond distance of 1.260 (2) Å in the heteroaromatic ring indicates delocalization between the deprotonated hydroxy group and the pyridinium ring. The uncoordinated carboxylate O atom links with the imidazole and pyridinium rings of adjacent molecules via N—H...O and C—H...O hydrogen bonding, leading to a two-dimensional array parallel to (100).

A Helical Polymeric Complex, Tris(benzimidazole)nickel(ii) (Μ-Maleato)

Abstract:The title polymeric complex [Ni(C7H6N2)(3)(C4H2O4)](n) has been prepared and its crystal structure determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction methods. The complex is orthorhombic, space group P2(1)2(1)2(1) with a = 9.320(1), b = 12.015(1), c = 20.964( 2) angstrom. Three benzimidazole (bzim) and two maleate dianions coordinate to the Ni(II) atom with distorted octahedral geometry. Maleate dianions bridge neighbouring Ni( II) atoms through terminal carboxyl groups, one in monodentate and the other in chelate mode, to form polymeric molecular chains extending along the a axis. The structure is chiral, the Flack index of 0.002(10) suggesting that the helical polymeric chain is right-handed. Both intra-helical and inter-helical N - H center dot center dot center dot O hydrogen bonding occurs between bzim and carboxyl groups of maleate. The partially overlapped arrangement of nearly parallel bzim rings suggests the existence of pi-pi stacking in the crystal.

Abstract:In the crystal structure of the title compound, [Na4Ni(C8H3O7S)(2)(H2O)(12)](n), the Ni-II cation occupies an inversion centre and is coordinated by the carboxyl groups of the sulfoisophthalate trianions and water molecules in a distorted octahedral geometry. Two independent Na-I atoms are connected by the carboxyl and sulfonate groups of the sulfoisophthalate ligands anions and water molecules in a distorted octahedral geometry. The sulfoisophthalate ligands and coordinated water molecules bridge the Ni-II and Na-I cations, forming a three-dimensional polymeric structure. Weak pi-pi stacking is present between parallel benzene rings [centroid-centroid distance = 3.9349 ( 10) A]. Extensive O-H center dot center dot center dot O and C-H center dot center dot center dot O hydrogen bonding helps to stabilize the crystal structure.

Abstract:The title complex [Ni(C4H4O5)(C6H6N4S2)(H2O)].2.5H(2)O has been prepared and its crystal structure was determined by X-ray diffraction method. The crystal belongs to monoclinic, space group P2(1)/n with a = 16.499(2), b 10.132(l), c 11. 177(2)Angstrom, beta = 109.76(1)degrees, V = 1758.4(4)degrees, Angstrom(3) M-r = 452.11, Z = 4, D-c = 1.708 g/cm(3), mu = 1.391 mm(-1), F(000) = 932, R 0.0424 and wR 0.1088 for 2341 observed reflections (I>2sigma(I)). The complex assumes a distorted octahedral coordination geometry formed by one oxydiacetate dianion, one diaminobithiazole and one coordinated water molecule. The parallel thiazole rings of adjacent complex molecules overlap to each other, and the separation of 3.459(7) Angstrom suggests the existence of pi-pi stacking.

Abstract:The title compound, [Ni-II(H2O)(6)][Ni-II(C4H4O4S)(2)]center dot 4H(2)O, consists of [Ni-II(H2O)(6)](2+) complex dications, [Ni-II(C4H4O4S)(2)](2-) complex dianions and non-coordinated water molecules. In the complex dianion, two thiodiacetate dianions coordinate to the Ni-II ion in a fac-SO2-tridentate chelating mode, resulting in a distorted octahedral trans-NiO4S2 coordination geometry. The crystal structure is stabilized by an extensive O - H center dot center dot center dot O hydrogen-bonding network.

Abstract:The crystal structure of the title compound, [Ni(C3H4N2)6][Ni(C3H4N2)3(H2O)3](C12H6O4)2, contains uncoordinated naphthalenedicarboxylate dianions and two kinds of NiII complex cations, both assuming distorted octahedral geometries. One NiII ion is located on an inversion center and is coordinated by six imidazole molecules, while the other NiII ion is located on a twofold rotation axis and is coordinated by three water molecules and three imidazole molecules in a mer-NiN3O3 arrangement. The naphthalenedicarboxylate dianion links both NiII complex cations via O—H...O and N—H...O hydrogen bonding, but no π–π stacking is observed between aromatic rings in the crystal structure. One imidazole ligand is equally disordered over two sites about a twofold rotation axis; one N atom and one water O atom have site symmetry 2.

Abstract:The title complex, [Ni(C7H4NO4)(2)(C3H4N2)(2)(H2O)(2)], assumes an octahedral coordination geometry with the Ni atom located on an inversion centre. The overlapped arrangement and the separation of 3.535 (14) Angstrom suggest the existence of pi-pi stacking between parallel imidazole ligands. Both intramolecular and intermolecular hydrogen bonding occur between imidazole, coordinated water molecules and the carboxyl group.
