Abstract:We prove that the Gromov–Hausdorff limit of Kähler–Ricci flow on a G -spherical Fano manifold X is a G -spherical ℚ -Fano variety X_∞ , which admits a (singular) Kähler–Ricci soliton. Abstract:We give some tautological constructions of formal Frobenius manifold structures on a Frobenius algebra. As a consequence, one can construct a version of "quantum cohomology" for any connected oriented closed manifold, in the sense that it is a deformation given by a function which satisfies the WDVV equations. We compute the potential functions for complex projective spaces.

Equivariant formality in complex-oriented theories

Abstract:Let $G$ be a product of unitary groups and let $(M,\omega)$ be a compact symplectic manifold with Hamiltonian $G$-action. We prove an equivariant formality result for any complex-oriented cohomology theory $\mathbb{E}^*$ (in particular, integral cohomology). This generalizes the celebrated result of Atiyah-Bott-Kirwan for rational cohomology from the 1980s. The proof does not use classical ideas but instead relies on a recent cohomological splitting result of Abouzaid-McLean-Smith for Hamiltonian fibrations over $\mathbb{CP}^1.$ Moreover, we establish analogues of the "localization" and "injectivity to fixed points" theorems for certain cohomology theories studied by Hopkins-Kuhn-Ravenel. As an application of these results, we establish a Goresky-Kottwitz-MacPherson theorem with Morava $K$-theory coefficients for Hamiltonian $T$-manifolds.

On the formality of nearly Kähler manifolds and of Joyce's examples in $G_2$-holonomy

Abstract:It is a prominent conjecture (relating Riemannian geometry and algebraic topology) that all simply-connected compact manifolds of special holonomy should be formal spaces, i.e., their rational homotopy type should be derivable from their rational cohomology algebra already -- an as prominent as particular property in rational homotopy theory. Special interest now lies on exceptional holonomy $G_2$ and $Spin(7)$. In this article we provide a method of how to confirm that the famous Joyce examples of holonomy $G_2$ indeed are formal spaces; we concretely exert this computation for one example which may serve as a blueprint for the remaining Joyce examples (potentially also of holonomy $Spin(7)$). These considerations are preceded by another result identifying the formality of manifolds admitting special structures: we prove the formality of nearly Kähler manifolds. A connection between these two results can be found in the fact that both "special holonomy" and "nearly Kähler" naturally generalize compact Kähler manifolds, whose formality is a classical and celebrated theorem by Deligne-Griffiths-Morgan-Sullivan.

On the geometry of Kähler--Frobenius manifolds and their classification

Abstract:The purpose of this article is to show that flat compact Kähler manifolds exhibit the structure of a Frobenius manifold, a structure originating in 2D Topological Quantum Field Theory and closely related to Joyce structure. As a result, we classify all such manifolds. It can be deduced that Kähler--Frobenius manifolds include certain Calabi--Yau manifolds, complex tori $T=\mathbb{C}^n/\mathbb{Z}^n$, Hantzsche--Wendt manifolds, hyperelliptic manifolds and manifolds of type $T/G$, where $G$ is a finite group acting on $T$ freely and containing no translations. An explicit study is provided for the two-dimensional case. Additionally, we can prove that Chern's conjecture for Kähler pre-Frobenius manifolds holds. Lastly, we establish that certain classes of Kähler-Frobenius manifolds share a direct relationship with theta functions which are important objects in number theory as well as complex analysis.

Abstract:This is the first paper in a series that studies smooth relative Lie algebra homologies and cohomologies based on the theory of formal manifolds and formal Lie groups. In this paper, we lay the foundations for this study by introducing the notion of formal manifolds in the context of differential geometry, inspired by the notion of formal schemes in algebraic geometry. We develop the basic theory for formal manifolds, and establish a fully faithful contravariant functor from the category of formal manifolds to the category of topological $\mathbb{C}$-algebras. We also prove the existence of finite products in the category of formal manifolds by studying vector-valued formal functions.

Equivariant cohomology of a complexity-one four-manifold is determined by combinatorial data

Abstract:For Hamiltonian circle actions on compact, connected, four-dimensional manifolds, we give a generators and relations description for the even part of the equivariant cohomology, as an algebra over the equivariant cohomology of a point. This description depends on combinatorial data encoded in the decorated graph of the manifold. We then give an explicit combinatorial description of all weak algebra isomorphisms. We use this description to prove that the even parts of the equivariant cohomology algebras are weakly isomorphic and the odd groups have the same ranks if and only if the labeled graphs obtained from the decorated graphs by forgetting the height and area labels are isomorphic. As a consequence, we give an example of an isomorphism of equivariant cohomology algebras that cannot be induced by an equivariant diffeomorphism of manifolds preserving a compatible almost complex structure. We also provide a soft proof that there are finitely many maximal Hamiltonian circle actions on a fixed compact, connected, four-dimensional symplectic manifold.

Abstract:We identify two Frobenius manifolds obtained from two different differential Gerstenhaber-Batalin-Vilkovisky algebras on a compact Kahler manifold. One is constructed on the Dolbeault cohomology in Cao-Zhou [6], and the other on the de Rham cohomology in the present paper. This can be considered as a generalization of the identification of the Dolbeault cohomology ring with the complexified de Rham cohomology ring on a Kahler manifold.

Abstract:. One of the methods to obtain Frobenius manifold structures is via differential Gerstenhaber-Batalin-Vilkovisky (DGBV) algebra construction. An important problem, as motivated from mirror symmetry, is how to identify Frobenius manifold structures constructed from two different DGBV algebras. For DGBV algebras with suitable conditions, we show the functorial property of a construction of deformations of the multiplicative structures of their cohomology. In particular, we show that quasi-isomorphic DGBV algebras yield equivalent formal Frobenius manifold structures.

Abstract:We describe some recent development on the theory of formal Frobenius manifolds via a construction from differential Gerstenhaber-Batalin-Vilkovisk (DGBV) algebras and formulate a version of mirror symmetry conjecture: the extended deformation problems of the complex structure and the Poisson structure are described by two DGBV algebras; mirror symmetry is interpreted in term of the invariance of the formal Frobenius manifold structures under quasi-isomorphism.

Abstract:ABSTRACT Let $(M,I,J,K,\Omega)$ be a compact HKT manifold, and let us denote with $\partial$ the conjugate Dolbeault operator with respect to I, $\partial_J:=J^{-1}\overline\partial J$, $\partial^\Lambda:=[\partial,\Lambda]$, where Λ is the adjoint of $L:=\Omega\wedge-$. Under suitable assumptions, we study Hodge theory for the complexes $(A^{\bullet,0},\partial,\partial_J)$ and $(A^{\bullet,0},\partial,\partial^\Lambda)$ showing a similar behavior to Kähler manifolds. In particular, several relations among the Laplacians, the spaces of harmonic forms and the associated cohomology groups, together with Hard Lefschetz properties, are proved. Moreover, we show that for a compact HKT $\mathrm{SL}(n,\mathbb{H})$-manifold, the differential graded algebra $(A^{\bullet,0},\partial)$ is formal and this will lead to an obstruction for the existence of an HKT $\mathrm{SL}(n,\mathbb{H})$ structure $(I,J,K,\Omega)$ on a compact complex manifold (M, I). Finally, balanced HKT structures on solvmanifolds are studied.

Abstract:Let Σ be a compact oriented 2-manifold (possibly with boundary), and let G Σ be the linear span of free homotopy classes of closed oriented curves on Σ equipped with the Goldman Lie bracket [ ⋅ , ⋅ ] Goldman defined in terms of intersections of curves. A theorem of Goldman gives rise to a Lie homomorphism Φ even from ( G Σ , [ ⋅ , ⋅ ] Goldman ) to functions on the moduli space of flat connections M Σ ( G ) for G = U ( N ) , G L ( N ) , equipped with the Atiyah-Bott Poisson bracket. The space G Σ also carries the Turaev Lie cobracket δ Turaev defined in terms of self-intersections of curves. In this paper, we address the following natural question: which geometric structure on moduli spaces of flat connections corresponds to the Turaev cobracket? We give a constructive answer to this question in the following context: for G a Lie supergroup with an odd invariant scalar product on its Lie superalgebra, and for nonempty ∂Σ, we show that the moduli space of flat connections M Σ ( G ) carries a natural Batalin-Vilkovisky (BV) structure, given by an explicit combinatorial Fock-Rosly formula. Furthermore, for the queer Lie supergroup G = Q ( N ) , we define a BV-morphism Φ odd : ∧ G Σ → Fun ( M Σ ( Q ( N ) ) ) which replaces the Goldman map, and which captures the information both on the Goldman bracket and on the Turaev cobracket. The map Φ odd is constructed using the “odd trace” function on Q ( N ) .

Abstract:Consider the Hamiltonian action of a compact connected Lie group on a transversely symplectic foliation which satisfies the transverse hard Lefschetz property. We establish an equivariant formality theorem and an equivariant symplectic d delta-lemma in this setting. As an application, we show that if the foliation is also Riemannian, then there exists a natural formal Frobenius manifold structure on the equivariant basic cohomology of the foliation.
On equivariantly formal 2-torus manifolds

Abstract:A 2-torus manifold is a closed connected smooth n-manifold with a non-free effective smooth $\mathbb{Z}^n_2$-action. In this paper, we prove that a 2-torus manifold is equivariantly formal if and only if the $\mathbb{Z}^n_2$-action is locally standard and every face of its orbit space (including the whole orbit space) is mod 2 acyclic. Our study is parallel to the study of torus manifolds with vanishing odd-degree cohomology by M. Masuda and T. Panov. As an application, we determine when such kind of 2-torus manifolds can have regular m-involutions (i.e. involutions with only isolated fixed points of the maximum possible number).

Abstract:We describe the construction of Frobenius manifold out of a cyclic (commutative) $BV_\infty$ algebra $(A,\Delta)$ under the assumption of a Hodge-to-de Rham degeneration property and the existence of a compatible homotopy retract of $A$ onto its cohomology. We then apply it to Jacobi manifolds and Hermitian manifolds, generalizing known results in literature.

Abstract:For manifolds equipped with group actions, we have the following natural question: To what extent does the equivariant cohomology determine the equivariant diffeotype? We resolve this question for Hamiltonian circle actions on compact, connected symplectic four-manifolds. They are equivariantly diffeomorphic if and only if their equivariant cohomology rings are isomorphic as algebras over the equivariant cohomology of a point. In fact, we prove a stronger claim: each isomorphism between their equivariant cohomology rings is induced by an equivariant diffeomorphism.

On the structure of complete kählerian manifolds furnished with closed conformal vector fields

Abstract:We show that if a connected compact kählerian surface $M$ with nonpositive gaussian curvature is furnished with a closed conformal vector field $\xi$ whose singular points are isolated, then $M$ is isometric to a flat torus and $\xi$ is parallel. We also consider the case of a connected complete kählerian manifod $M$ of complex dimension $n>1$ and furnished with a nontrivial closed conformal vector field $\xi$. In this case, it is well known that the singularities of $\xi$ are automatically isolated and the nontrivial leaves of the distribution generated by $\xi$ and $J\xi$ are totally geodesic in $M$. Assuming that one such leaf is compact, has torsion normal holonomy group and that the holomorphic sectional curvature of $M$ along it is nonpositive, we show that $\xi$ is parallel and $M$ is foliated by a family of totally geodesic isometric tori and also by a family of totally geodesic isometric complete kählerian manifolds of complex dimension $n-1$. In particular, the the universal covering of $M$ is isometric to a riemannian product having $\mathbb R^2$ as a factor. We also present a generic example showing that one cannot get rid of the hypothesis on the nonpositivity of the holomorphic sectional curvature along at least one such leaf.
