Abstract:Objective To explore arthroscopic diagnosis and early therapeutic choice of acute incomplete anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury of the knee. Method A total of 37 cases with acute incomplete ACL injury of the knee were administered in our hospital and diagnosed early under arthroscopy from August 1999 to October 2003. Of all, eight cases with damaged ACL were treated conservatively after a radiofrequency shrinkage under arthroscope, 19 managed with ACL augment operation at one stage and 10 with ACL reconstruction at one stage, with a follow up for 10-23 months and a clinical evaluation. Results A follow up was made in 34 cases (92%), who had Lysholm score increase from preoperative (43.6±5.2) scores to postoperative (91.8±2.3) scores after six months of rehabilitative treatment, with significant statistical difference (P<0.01). Conclusions Arthroscopy should be as the early choice for cases with acute incomplete ACL injury of the knee to identify the diagnosis and evaluate the ACL injury. Appropriate treatment and early repair or reconstruction of the damaged ACL under arthroscopy are important clinically for early recovery of the knee stabilization.
