Abstract:Interfirm innovation networks are the important ways to enhance firm's competitiveness under the dynamic and complicated circumstances,and the interfirm innovation networks evolutes according to firm's situations.Some important factors influencing the formation and evolution of interfirm innovation networks are identified based on the empirical analysis for 331 firms in Zhejiang province,such as firm's strategic intention,human resource management,organizational culture,communication structure,entrepreneur's homeplace,education level,expand desirability,etc.

Abstract:The paper constructed a theoretical model of the relationship between social network,innovation resources and innovation performance.Based on the surveying firms in Hangzhou,Ningbo,Shaoxing and so on,the theoretical model and its assumptions were verified.The study showed some results as follows: 1) The scale,centrality,strength and reciprocity of social network were positively correlated with knowledge resources firms;2) The strength,stability and reciprocity of social network were positively correlated with the capital firms;3) The resources of knowledge and capital played the intermediary role in the relationship between dimensions of social network and innovation performance.

Abstract:Existing theoretical attempts to understand the dynamics of technological innovation have focused on the influence of regional environment and inter-firm relations. More recently, however, a number of studies have suggested that firm-specific attributes be taken as the key to innovation. This study examines the determinants of technological innovation in China's ICT firms based on a large-scale questionnaire survey. We reveal that firm-level attributes are of great importance to innovation whereas the influences of region/relation-specific factors are modified by the types of innovation and by firms' strategies and motivations. The role of regional and relational assets should not be over-emphasized at the expense of firm-level attributes. Research emphasis should be placed on the process of how firm attributes interacted with regional environment and inter-firm relations to shape innovation. The article concludes with a plea to bring 'the firm' back to the centre and adopt an interactionist approach to understanding technological innovation.

Abstract:There is a lot of literature on systems of nation,region and industries,but we have litter understanding of relationships between the various systems of innovation research.This paper strongly argues that without good knowledge about the relationships between the innovation systems,it is no possible to fully understand the operating function of innovation system,and difficult to guide the development of innovation policy as well.After reviewing and summarizing the theories of innovation system,especially national innovation system,regional innovation system and industrial innovation system,we discuss their relationships and point out that to build a multi-level framework integrating the micro(enterprises),mecro(industry and region) and macro(nation and global) –scale innovation elements,and to study interaction between elements at the same geographic scales.

Abstract:The components and knowledge flows on innovation networks in enterprise clusters are analyzed first in this paper.Based on the latest research on complex network model in physics,the initial condition of network and the corresponding preferential attachment are proposed.Innovation networks grow with addition of new nodes and links,or rewiring of links from one node to another.A finite size scale-free network would be formed on condition that these events conform to the preferential attachment.The network displays high tolerance for errors but very low tolerance for attacks.Moreover,the robustness of innovation network depends on appropriate combination of local and non-local links.

Abstract:Based on the theory of collaborative innovation,this paper studies the influence mechanism of the collaborative innovation in the in-dustrial clusters on the evolution of innovation network structure.Taking the innovation and entrepreneurship demonstration area of University of Science and Technology(School)and Chengdu High-tech Zone(Belt)as an example,it mainly explains the evolutionary theory model using the case study methodology.The results show that collaborative innovation among enterprises in industrial cluster has a positive impact on the evo-lution of network structure,and science,technology and government behaviors could promote the evolution of network,which is conducive to the formation of collaborative innovation among the agents in the network.

Abstract:Understanding the evolutionary characteristics of innovation network structure can improve urban innovation and regional construction. Urban innovative development is affected by various factors, which can be analyzed via models of innovation networks. We establish a multi-criteria evaluation system of innovation capability and use an improved gravity model to construct an innovation network for 2015–2018, employing social network methods to analyze structural characteristics and spatial patterns. Results show that: (1) The innovation of cities in the urban agglomeration in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River has gradually increased, with an accompanying increase in the complexity of innovation networks. The cities of Wuhan, Changsha, and Nanchang are located at the absolute core of this network, which exhibits a Matthew effect, and has a triangle integration mode of growth. (2) The attraction of innovative resources and the promotion of individual innovation are increasing every year within the cities. The aggregation pattern of innovation shows a multi-core state in the urban agglomeration in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River, but the innovation radiation pattern has changed from a single center to a double center. (3) Multiple spatial innovation axes are seen in the network, with a location and direction consistent with the urban agglomeration’s development axis in the Yangtze River’s middle reaches and a triangle integration growth mode. Policy implications are proposed for regional innovation and development, and our results can provide future policy guidance and direction for governmental entities and other stakeholders.

Abstract:This study describes collaboration between firms and different organizations as a process of knowledge sharing, integrating inter-organizational collaboration networks and knowledge networks into a unified framework. It analyzes the bilayer structure of collaborative innovation networks, namely, the firm-knowledge bipartite network. The study investigates the impact of firm knowledge characteristics (diversity and uniqueness) on breakthrough and incremental innovation within collaborative innovation networks. The research employs patent data from Chinese A-share high-tech manufacturing companies listed from 2000 to 2018 and verifies the related hypotheses using a negative binomial regression model. The results suggest that, within collaborative innovation networks, firm knowledge diversity has a negative impact on breakthrough innovation but a positive impact on incremental innovation. On the other hand, firm knowledge uniqueness plays a positive role in breakthrough innovation but a negative role in incremental innovation. This study extends the understanding of firm technological innovation by considering both breakthrough and incremental innovation as distinct behaviors, providing a new perspective on the mechanisms underlying different innovation behaviors. By adopting a multilevel network structure approach to collaborative innovation, it contributes to a deeper understanding of internal and external factors influencing firm innovation behavior and expands the application scope of social network analysis.
