Abstract:By introducing Frobenius morphismsFFon algebrasAAand their modules over the algebraic closureF¯q{\overline {\mathbb {F}}}_qof the finite fieldFq{\mathbb {F}}_qofqqelements, we establish a relation between the representation theory ofAAoverF¯q\overline {\mathbb {F}}_qand that of theFF-fixed point algebraAFA^FoverFq{\mathbb {F}}_q. More precisely, we prove that the category\textbf {mod}-AF\text {\textbf {mod}-}A^Fof finite-dimensionalAFA^F-modules is equivalent to the subcategory of finite-dimensionalFF-stableAA-modules, and, whenAAis finite dimensional, we establish a bijection between the isoclasses of indecomposableAFA^F-modules and theFF-orbits of the isoclasses of indecomposableAA-modules. Applying the theory to representations of quivers with automorphisms, we show that representations of a modulated quiver (or a species) overFq{\mathbb {F}}_qcan be interpreted asFF-stable representations of the corresponding quiver overF¯q\overline {\mathbb {F}}_q. We further prove that every finite-dimensional hereditary algebra overFq{\mathbb {F}}_qis Morita equivalent to someAFA^F, whereAAis the path algebra of a quiverQQoverF¯q\overline {\mathbb {F}}_qandFFis induced from a certain automorphism ofQQ. A close relation between the Auslander-Reiten theories forAAandAFA^Fis established. In particular, we prove that the Auslander-Reiten (modulated) quiver ofAFA^Fis obtained by “folding" the Auslander-Reiten quiver ofAA. Finally, by taking Frobenius fixed points, we are able to count the number of indecomposable representations of a modulated quiver overFq{\mathbb {F}}_qwith a given dimension vector and to generalize Kac’s theorem for all modulated quivers and their associated Kac–Moody algebras defined by symmetrizable generalized Cartan matrices.
