Abstract:Pre-clinical education is the targeted teaching and guidance to the medical students be- fore they start clinical practice. In order to improve the clinical practice teaching effect, pre-clinical educa- tion for the stomatological undergraduate students was carried out in recent years in Tongji University School of Stomatology. It focused on the following strategies: developing personal clerkship schedule, practicing problem-based learning teaching method, in vitro teeth practicing and evaluation, simulated clinical train- ing, cultivating students' patient-centered sense of service and responsibility. These strategies helped to cultivate the students' good learning habits and laid a good foundation for their clinical practice which has been proved to have better results in clinical practice teaching.

Abstract:Clinical practice is an important ingredient of stomatology education.In most of the schools,the students need to practice in different specialized departments in turn.General clinic has been established to be used in clinical practice teaching in Peking University School & hospital of Stomatology.Through 3 years' practice,it was found that general clinic has advantages in clinical practice teaching as follow:① Strengthening the integrity of teaching; ② Offering the patient combined therapy; ③ Promoting the students' thoughts of the combined diagnosis and treatment; ④ utilizing the medical resource more efficiently.Lack of patients in certain specialities was the major problem.It could be mitigated through adjusting the medical resource in different specialties.Training of the doctors and nurses to obtain teaching ability in general dentistry is the keypoint to solve this problem,which also agrees with requirement of the standardized training for interns nowadays.

Abstract:The past decade has shown increasing demands for reforming dental education that would produce a graduate better equipped to work in the rapidly changing world of the twenty-first century. With the rapid development of social economy and more and more fierce competitive environment, teaching reform on stomatology is imperative nowadays. The existing curriculum of courses, teaching method, teaching medium, and mode of training must be improved and innovated based on cultivation of innovative talents with all-round development of moral, intellectual, physical, and aesthetic education. All the teaching should be student-centered rather than teacher-centered, with the purpose of enhancing the students' research ability, English ability, and clinical skills.

Abstract:In order to foster innovative spirit and ability of students,the reform in the experimental teaching was carried out.Experimental teaching mode,method and development of creative experiments with emphasis on "Wide foundation,Strong practice and Innovative ability" were explored and practiced,aiming at constructing a trinity talent education system combined with knowledge,quality and ability.New experiments closely related to curriculum theory were developed to the greatest extent.Practice teaching and research training were reasonably arranged.Therefore,a new practical teaching system focusing on cultivating students' innovative ability was built and integration of teaching,scientific research training and talents cultivating was realized.

Abstract:By making needs analysis of talents for clinical pharmacy,the paper designs and implements the compound and practical talents training program for clinical pharmacy to achieve the goal of producing such talents.It proposes the basic thoughts for design: focusing on the key skills in promoting rational administration of drugs in clinic,therapeutic drug monitoring,clinical appraisal of new drugs and clinical pharmacy research.The implementation involves optimizing the curriculum,reforming teaching methods,contents and experiment teaching,as well as cultivating clinical and pharmacy practice ability.

Abstract:Research-oriented universities,which focus on scientific research and talents cultivating,emerge in China as a result of the rapid development of science and technology in the 20th century.Talents in research-oriented universities include an outstanding research and teaching staff and excellent postgraduates.A research-oriented university plays an indispensable role in cultivating talents by taking advantage of its strong teaching staff, first class facilities for scientific research and sufficient funding.The paper presents a statistical analysis of 15 research-oriented universities in China,such as Tsinghua University,Beijing University and Nanjing University.Based on the analysis,four suggestions are made with regard to the policies concerning university teaching,university management,scientific research and fund use.

Abstract:Social practice is an important component in training qualified students.In order to explore a new pattern of stomatology education,our school developed a series of activities in oral health care and obtained satisfactory results.Through these activities we gained a lot of experience in organization and management: regarding organization,activities in oral health care should be combined with educational reform,organization style should be diversified and a long-term social practice base should be established;regarding management,we should enforce the ideological instruction of social practice for students and set up a consummated management and assessment system.On the one hand,we should combine students' self-education with teachers' instruction;on the other hand,we should strengthen guidance for social practice and seek more support from society.Only in this way can we make social practice more standardized and effective.

Abstract:Chinese stomatology education mode is different from foreign oral education mode,with its own characteristics and some deficiencies.By comparing to the mature oral ( dental ) medical education system,we can learn from the successful experience from American modern oral medical education mode while preserving their advantages to carry forward the Chinese stomatology education.For this purpose,we analyze the academic structure,curriculum,teaching methods,continuing education,basic training,clinical practice,career prospects between Sino-US oral medical education system.Some suggestions on educative reform were also made.

Abstract:Objective:To explore the attitude and behavior of scientific research in professional postgraduates majoring in stomatology in Peking University, proposing suggestions to improve the quality of scientific research training.Methods:150 professional postgraduates of stomatology including the 8-year program stomatological students (the postgraduate stage) of Peking University School of Stomatology were involved in the survey, information including the types of and attitudes to scientific research, the evaluation of research environments, the understanding of the relationship with their mentors, and the expected working institutions after graduation was collected by questionnaires.Results:A total number of 131 valid questionnaires were collected, with an effective rate of 87.3%. In terms of the type of research work, 70 (53.4%) were engaged in basic research and 30 (22.9%) in clinical research. In terms of attitudes towards scientific research training, 69 (52.7%) respondents agreed that scientific research and clinical practice promoted each other. The Likert scores of scientific research interest, ability, and pressure were 3.13 ± 0.84, 3.04 ± 0.84, and 4.14±0.71. The evaluation of laboratory conditions (3.30±0.92), scientific research funding (3.54±1.06), scientific research atmosphere (3.89±0.85), and reward and punishment mechanisms (3.82±0.76) were positive. The evaluations of scientific research training courses (2.89±0.88) and scientific training time (2.79±0.94) were negative. The average score of the rapport level between postgraduates and their mentors was 4.29±0.77, and 111 respondents (84.7%) had a correct understanding of the guiding relationship. Sixty-six respondents (50.4%) expected to engage in clinical and scientific research in stomatological schools and 61 (46.6%) expected to engage in clinical work only, after graduation.Conclusions:The scientific research for graduate students of stomatology in Peking University is mainly basic research, and the research pressure is relatively high. It is recommended to choose research topics in combination with clinical practice, clarify the significance of scientific research, optimize the scientific research environment and facilities, strengthen the tailored guidance of mentors, and to fulfill the " holistic training (Three All-round Education)" in professional postgraduate training.
