Abstract:The Intel Cup Undergraduate Embedded System Electronic Design Contest is an embedded system design invitational contest in China. This contest is held every two years since 2002. The contest focuses on the embedded system design and implementation. And it gives undergraduates a chance to show their creativity and learn teamwork. The influence of the contest is keeping increasing. Now it is an international invitational contest. And some universities from the countries which are advanced in computing begin to take part in the contest. In this paper we describe the experiences in such a contest for embedded system.

Abstract:The ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) is the most popular programming competition for universities worldwide. This contest examines the comprehensive ability of teams to program to solve problems. Teamwork is important besides team members' personal skills and capabilities. There have been literature on computer algorithms, personal training for programming contests, and team strategies during the contests. However, few articles involve team building and teamwork training for programming contests. This poster hopes to provide guidance and reference for coaches and contestants in teamwork training for programming contests, so that a team can benefit most from limited time of training to make as great progress as possible. This poster shares the authors' experience in team training for ICPC. Knowledge, skills, and attitudes (KSAs) of teamwork for programming contests are concluded and presented in details. The authors represent various teamwork methods graphically, so that it is visually helpful for study and discussion. These teamwork methods are pure teamwork, no-teamwork, some paired methods, and the method preferred by the authors. A team training form is then proposed to record the team behaviors in team training. By examining the training record, the coach and the team themselves can discover the team's strengths and weaknesses in various aspects, and evaluate the teamwork quality in the ways of communication, coordination, balance of member contributions and mutual support. Handouts will be available showing various teamwork methods in a graphical representation and some real training record forms.

Abstract:As an important way for colleges and universities to carry out quality education and cultivate modern talents, extracurricular academic, scientific and technological work knowledge competitions have gradually attracted attention from all walks of life and the universities themselves. As the current relevant research continues to deepen, the problems are gradually revealed. To explore the organization and management model of "Challenge Cup" competitions in colleges and universities and achieve the scientific development of different competitions, it is necessary for college event organizing departments and professional teachers to adapt to the development of the times, actively expand the online education competition polishing platform under "Internet +" and create online and offline system activities. Furthermore, leverage the effectiveness of competition in educating people and deepen the reform of second-classroom education in colleges and universities. Abstract:A contest is mainly about to promote talent selection or career progress through competition, a good contest not only has a strong driving force, but also has more far-reaching influence. The contest of Micro course has already become an important platform for implementing educational information program and changing the concept of Education Informatization. Also it has been formed an embryonic form of model of “To Promote to Build” in Education Informatization. The impact of the contest of Micro course is far from enough compared with the scale of the contest of Micro course, especially the role of the contest of Micro course is far from being played out for promoting of the development of information technology. Therefore, there is an urgent need to further sort out the theoretical and practical problems of the contest of Micro course, and analyze the reasons what related to the problem profoundly. Based on the data of the National contest of Micro course in recent three years, this paper summarized five problems about the contest of Micro-course, there are contest types overmuch, complicated definitions of assessment, paying more attention to the construction of resources, ignoring practical application and the organization is same as traditional contest. Moreover, from the perspective of organizers, researchers, industries and other aspects, it is found that the phenomenon of “profit-seeking” is serious, the definition of Micro course is unclear, and the innovation of the model of “To Promote to Build” is not enough. Finally, this paper put forward the strategic conception of solving the problem: From the individual to the three level systems of contest: unify the types of contest, innovate the system of contest; give full play to the contest's gradient effect from the resource assessment to the model of “To Promote to Build”; take the road of new-style contest in Education Informatization with Chinese characteristics from the driving force to influence.

Abstract:This paper presents a robot design competition called ‘IDC Robocon’ as an effective tool for engineering education. The International Design Contest (IDC) Robocon competition has several benefits in creating a meaningful design experience for undergraduate engineering students and includes an international flavour as participants of the competition hail from all around the world. The problem posed to the contestants is to design, build and test mobile robots that are capable of accomplishing a task. A primary goal of the competition is to provide undergraduates with a meaningful design experience with an emphasis on mechanical design, electronic circuits and programming. It is hoped that by placing the emphasis on the design, the course will encourage more undergraduates to go into the field of engineering design. This paper presents the latest 2015 IDC Robocon (the 26th edition) in detail and discusses course of events and results in terms of the educational experience. In this competition, a simulated space problem of cleaning the debris from orbit is proposed for the latest IDC Robocon competition. Teams, comprising of students from multiple countries work together to develop robotic systems to compete with each other in collecting the foam balls and delivering them to the rotating the holder.

As one of the most popular mobile operating systems, Android provides the tools and API for Android developer to develop Android applications. The Android application development college challenge is a influential Android developer contest for college students in China. This contest has been held for two times since 2010. It encourages college students to design and implement their applications on the Android platform. Abstract:Compared to engineering universities,less attention is paid to the event in most of comprehensive universities and therefore poor performance exists.Combined with the characteristics of Nanjing University, problems in the school,teachers and students are pointed out and then targeted measures are taken to solve those problems,and gradually a complete electronic design competition organization and training system is set up.In the three consecutive years of competition practice,good results have been achieved,the students showed a rapid rise in performance and in 2015 the National College Student Electronic Design Contest,the overall performance of Nanjing University is among the best.The result of practice has verified the effectiveness of the organization and training system of the competition,and it has general enlightenment and reference for other participating universities,especially comprehensive universities and research universities.

Abstract:Abstract With the aim of bringing interpretation trainees closer to the real world of multi-lingual conferences in China, Shanghai International Studies University held the first and second multi-lingual relay simultaneous interpreting contests in 2018 and 2019. From designing to organization and implementation, many practices were introduced for the first time in China. The event and experience are invaluable. This article provides a full landscape to the contest, including preparation, contest procedures, marking rules, improvements for future contests, problems encountered and further discussions for teaching of simultaneous interpreting. The experience will be of support for other future events of the discipline of interpretation.

Abstract:Competitive situations resembling contests are ubiquitous in modern economic landscape. In a contest, economic agents expend costly effort to vie for limited prizes, and they are rewarded for “getting ahead” of their opponents instead of their absolute performance metrics. Many social, economic, and business phenomena exemplify such competitive schemes, ranging from college admissions, political campaigns, advertising, and organizational hierarchies, to warfare. The economics literature has long recognized contest/tournament as a convenient and efficient incentive scheme to remedy the moral hazard problem, especially when the production process is subject to random perturbation or the measurement of input/output is imprecise or costly. An enormous amount of scholarly effort has been devoted to developing tractable theoretical models, unveiling the fundamentals of the strategic interactions that underlie such competitions, and exploring the optimal design of contest rules. This voluminous literature has enriched basic contest/tournament models by introducing different variations to the modeling, such as dynamic structure, incomplete and asymmetric information, multi-battle confrontations, sorting and entry, endogenous prize allocation, competitions in groups, contestants with alternative risk attitude, among other things.
