Training mechanism of engineering education and innovation talent based on courses-competitions combination

Abstract:Discipline competitions are particularly important for talent training in Chinese colleges and universities, especially engineering majors, such as energy conservation and emission reduction technology competitions (material science and engineering, environmental engineering, etc.) that can be participated in by materials majors, smart car and electronic design competitions (Automation and Electronic Information Engineering) that can be participated in by electronic engineering majors. Due to the need of engineering education in colleges and universities of China, the paper proposes a talent training mechanism of engineering and innovation based on the courses-combination competitions, which rely on the related courses teaching in the first classroom and scientific and technological innovation activities in the second classroom, through the discipline competition platform based on college students' associations, and set up the mechanism for the integration of the first classroom and the second classroom, this can correctly handle the relationship between discipline competition, practical teaching and engineering education. Taking the training of electronic and automation engineering talents as an example, paying attention to the cultivation of the students' engineering practice and innovation ability, through the connecting effect of the discipline competition, the engineering practice of the second classroom activities and innovation education are integrated into ‘creative innovation practice course’ of the first classroom, a unified, throughout the engineering education mechanism has been constructed. The training mechanism of engineering innovative talents based on courses-competitions combination has activated students' practice and innovation activities, enriched the talent training mode, combined the cultivation of students' engineering innovation ability and the improvement of their comprehensive quality.
