Abstract:This paper discusses the author's practice and thinking in the teaching of linear algebra for engineering students. As there are so many definitions, theorems and abstract concepts in the course to be handled, the author suggests that the geometric interpretation of the concepts should be introduced. Moreover, mathematics modeling and preparation for the course followed should be emphasized to make up for the disadvantage of the traditional text books.

Abstract:We present an elementary proof of the fundamental theorem of algebra, in which only the most basic notions of calculus are used. Considering discrete quantities instead of continuous functions allows us to obtain a proof that is fairly approachable but maintains the mathematical rigor.

Abstract:In this paper we will introduce the study of solving linear equation. Gauss-elimination and Gauss-Jordan elimination by using python code. This paper aims that students can easily and quickly calculate the linear problems by using python code. Gauss-elimination and Gauss-Jordan elimination are linking the application problem such that electrical networks, traffic flow and commodity marked. By studying this theorem, they know the important characteristics of matrices, concept of vector spaces and properties of special categories of matrices. And also they can know how to use characteristics of matrix to solve a liner system of equations or study properties of a linear transformation.

Abstract:The theory of 'point estimate' and the concept of 'general convergence', which were put forward by Smale in order to investigate the complexity of algorithms for solving equations, have been producing a deep impact on the research about the local behavior, the semi-local behavior and the global behavior of iteration methods. The criterion of point estimate introduced by him not only provides a tool for quantitative analysis of the local behavior but also motivates the establishing of the unified determination for the semi-local behavior. Studying the global behavior in the view of discrete dynamical system will lead to many profound research subjects and open up a rich and colorful prospect. In this review, we will make a summarization about the research progress and some applications in nonsmooth optimizations.

However, reliance on such tools may result in limited control over problem parameters, potentially yielding intricate solutions that impede students' understanding. This article centers on Linear Algebra, wherein we devise algorithms for reverse engineering matrices of integers with integer outcomes through operations such as the inverse, LU decomposition, and QR decomposition. The focus is on empowering instructors to manipulate matrix properties deliberately, ensuring the creation of problems that enrich instruction and foster student confidence. The intellectual endeavor of reverse engineering such problems, grounded in both theory and matrix properties, proves mutually beneficial for both students and instructors alike.

Abstract:In this article, we will explore the applications of linear ordinary differential equations (linear ODEs) in Physics and other branches of mathematics, and dig into the matrix method for solving linear ODEs. Although linear ODEs have a comparatively easy form, they are effective in solving certain physical and geometrical problems. We will begin by introducing fundamental knowledge in Linear Algebra and proving the existence and uniqueness of solution for ODEs. Then, we will concentrate on finding the solutions for ODEs and introducing the matrix method for solving linear ODEs. Eventually, we will apply the conclusions we’ve gathered from the previous parts into solving problems concerning Physics and differential curves. The matrix method is of great importance in doing higher dimensional computations, as it allows multiple variables to be calculated at the same time, thus reducing the complexity.

Abstract:Undergraduate students of mathematics continue to solve equations in virtually any course they attend, just as they did in secondary school -- yet what do they learn about equations and their solutions at university? Are they capable to combine elements of abstract algebra and real analysis to assess what it means to solve an equation, in particular, what it means for an equation to be solvable -- or not? In this paper, we present a mathematical and didactical analysis of these questions, illustrated by examples from a capstone course for future Danish high school teachers.

Abstract:Although it is easy to prove the sufficient conditions for optimality of a linear program, the necessary conditions pose a pedagogical challenge. A widespread practice in deriving the necessary conditions is to invoke Farkas' lemma, but proofs of Farkas' lemma typically involve "nonlinear" topics such as separating hyperplanes between disjoint convex sets, or else more advanced LP-related material such as duality and anti-cycling strategies in the simplex method. An alternative approach taken previously by several authors is to avoid Farkas' lemma through a direct proof of the necessary conditions. In that spirit, this paper presents what we believe to be an "elementary" proof of the necessary conditions that does not rely on Farkas' lemma and is independent of the simplex method, relying only on linear algebra and a perturbation technique published in 1952 by Charnes. No claim is made that the results are new, but we hope that the proofs may be useful for those who teach linear programming.
