Hints of Private Language on Translation Practice

Abstract:Based on the literature review and discussion of private language proposed by Ludwig Wittgenstein,this paper offers some philosophical thinking about the possibility and difficulty of translation(interpretation especially).It gives a hint that intelligibility and translatability declines when there is too much privateness in the original text or its cultural background,which,the writers believe should be transferred to the public language of the target language;but a kind of "semi-private language" can still be used in note-taking.
