Thoughts on the Two Prefectures Dongting and Cangwu in the Qin Dynasty

Abstract:The two prefectures Dongting and Cangwu found in the unearthed documentary of bamboo slip in 2002 have never been known before either in historical document nor in the academic circles. It shakes the established prefecture system of the Qin Dynasty, This paper tries to locate the two prefectures into this system to replace the originally decided Changsha and Qianzhong. It also properly readjusts the prefecture boundaries while maintaining the basic pattern of Qin prefectures in the Chinese Historical Atlas.
