Abstract:Compared with mechanical gear, permanent magnetic gear has unique advantages which are high efficiency, noise free, zero friction, vibrationless, overload protection, etc. This paper introduced a novel coaxial magnetic gear with high speed radio and analyzed the efficient performance including peak torque, starting, braking, and no-loading procedures on the basis of calculating in finite element software Ansoft. The results prove that the novel magnetic gear is reasonable and efficient.

Abstract:This paper addresses the electromagnetic relationship and the electromagnetic model, which includes voltage equations, flux linkage equations, and electro-magnetic torque expressions, of the two-pole permanent magnetic spherical motor. The model shows that the electro-magnetic coupling relationship inside the two-pole PM spherical motor is simple and that the torque of the motor is easy to control. The paper also analyzes the magnetic field of the motor by 3D FEM method. The result confirms the sine distribution of the field and the modeling method.

Abstract:In this paper, the structure, features and operating principles of the rotational-linear magnetic drive gear based on the principles of the linear motor are analyzed. Using finite element analysis software ANSYS, 2-D and 3-D equivalent model on the overall structure of are established. Through model analysis, the design size of magnetic gear, its performance parameters are discussed. The curves of each parameter and the magnetic force, including the magnetic pole arc, the air gap thickness and tooth thickness are plotted. Considering the processing level of practical engineering, the magnetic gear structure is optimized. The simulation experiment on optimized structure verifies the feasibility of the improved structure.

Abstract:Gear exciting is of vital importance in modem power transmission systems. But when the requirements of angular gear transmission are needed, the shortcomings of the current mechanical and magnetic gear transmission are even more obvious. The traditional mechanical gear boxes have the construction of direct mechanical contact, whose disadvantages are low efficiency, noisy, apt to lubricate, easy to produce vibrations to be damaged and so on. And the existing magnetic gear is coaxial which can't meet the need of angular transmission. In this paper, the construction of a kind of spatial angular magnetic gear, which has no direct mechanical contact between the driven axis and load axis, is proposed. Besides, the principle of the gear ratio is introduced and a concrete magnetic gear is analyzed. The results show that the range of the angle of this magnetic gear can be very large.

Abstract:The mechanical analysis of gear coupling was carried out in thecase of the existence of dry friction in the mating flank. The additional force was calculated with numerical method and tested in rotor simulating experiment rig. And the results show that the existence of dry fiction results in the changes and obvious inertance of the additional force.

Abstract:Mechanical gears are used extensively for low-speed electrical machine application to reach high system torque density. However, gear lubrication, vibration and reliability can be significant issues. Magnetic gears (MG) can effectively reduce the speed and amplify system output torque through modulation of ferromagnetic pole-pieces and interaction of magnetic field. This paper proposed a novel magnetic gear integrated brushless permanent machine, which overcomes the drawbacks associated with mechanical gear. Compared with previous magnetic gear integrated machines, the novel one is more space efficient and easier to control for putting the brushless permanent machine inside the magnetic gear through mounting the inner-rotor of MG on the brushless permanent machine. This kind of structure integration can make full use of inside-space of MG, and the novel drive train system can reach higher transmission torque density. The operating principle of the machine is discussed and transient performances are analyzed using 2D finite element method (FEM). Detailed analyses about its gear ratio, torque transmission, core losses, and induced voltage are reported.

Abstract:This paper presents a novel coaxial magnetic gear (MG), in which dual consequent-pole permanent magnet rotors are adopted. The MG is attractive for torque conversion in the advanced vehicle thanks to its high torque density. To achieve a comprehensive understanding of the MG, a subdomain model is established to analytically calculate the magnetic field in the MG by solving the vector magnetic potential equations while considering the corresponding boundary and continuity conditions. Consequently, the air-gap field distribution and the electromagnetic performance of the MG can be predicted. The finite element analysis method is also used to validate the accuracy of the proposed analytical method. In comparison with the conventional MG, both methods verify that the proposed MG can offer higher torque transmission density while consume less volume of magnets.

Abstract:Permanent magnetic gear (PMG) is a new kind of non-contact power transmission device which has unique advantages to be applied in the situations of airproof and small vibration requirements. A new kind of large torque permanent magnetic gear box with flexible transmission ratio is introduced in this paper. Research on principle analysis and transmission characteristics were carried out on the basis of calculating in finite element software Ansoft, and test results of a prototype prove that the design is reasonable and good practical in engineering applications.

Abstract:The air gap magnetic field of a magnetic coupling plays a crucial role in the examination of its static torque and eddy current losses. Precise characterization of the air gap magnetic field is essential for ensuring the accuracy of performance assessments of the magnetic coupling. This study focuses on the cylindrical magnetic coupling as the subject of investigation, employing mathematical analysis and finite element methods to evaluate and quantify the magnetic field properties. The study establishes a mathematical model of the magnetic field of a magnetic coupling based on electromagnetic field principles and the superposition theorem. An analytical formula for the magnetic flux density distribution of the air-gap magnetic field is derived. Subsequently, a three-dimensional magnetic field finite element model is created using the finite element method to numerically calculate the air gap magnetic field and validate the analytical formula. The research also explores the periodic distribution characteristics of the magnetic field in the air gap, analyzing axial differences in magnetic flux density value and direction distribution influenced by end effects.

The approach based on magnetomotive force (MMF) and the permeance function is employed to compute the air-gap flux density distribution. The stator slotting effect and rotor eccentricity are taken into account to determine the permeance function. Abstract:Permanent magnet biased radial-axial hybrid magnetic bearing possesses complicated structure, which makes the design and analysis difficult. In this paper, the permeances of each part of the flux path including the leakage permeance are analyzed thoroughly by considering the geometry structure and the distribution of air gap flux. Then the relatively precise mathematical model of the hybrid magnetic bearing is deduced. Based on the mathematical models of the hybrid magnetic bearing, a prototype hybrid magnetic bearing is designed, and the calculation formulas of magnetic suspension forces, the force-displacement coefficients and the force-current coefficients are deduced. Finally, the design and analysis of the prototype hybrid magnetic bearing was verified by 3D electromagnetic finite element method.

Abstract:The eccentric harmonic magnetic gear (EHMG) has the characteristics of high torque density, high transmission ratio and high efficiency. The EHMG with Halbach array has better performance than the EHMG with traditional radial magnetization. Accurate calculation of its air‐gap magnetic field is of great significance for design and optimization. Based on the boundary perturbation method, a 2D analytical model of the air‐gap magnetic field of EHMG with Halbach array is established in this paper. The eccentric air‐gap magnetic field is calculated due to the permanent magnets of the eccentric rotor and the stator acting alone, and then the air‐gap magnetic field of the EHMG is obtained according to the superposition principle. The results of the air‐gap magnetic field are compared and evaluated by the regression evaluation indexes. The analytical results are consistent with the finite element results, which verifies the validity and accuracy of the analytical model. Comparing the EHMG with Halbach array and radial magnetization, the maximum static and dynamic electromagnetic torques of EHMG with Halbach array are increased by 59.1% and 55.6% compared with the EHMG with radial magnetization, which verifies the superior performance of EHMG with Halbach array. © 2023 Institute of Electrical Engineer of Japan and Wiley Periodicals LLC.

Abstract:A special clutch is needed in a high speed rotating instrument,which takes charge of coupling and separating two mechanical shifts at high speed.A novel non-contact electromagnetic clutch was designed in this paper,where an electromagnetic coil was used to control input.It has outstanding advantages of non-contact,low noise and automatic overload protection.The clutch was studied with model simulation and magnetic field calculation in Ansoft.A prototype was manufactured and tested.It is proved by experiments that the working principle of the designed clutch is correct and that it has good prospect in practical engineering application.

Abstract:This article proposes a novel hybrid-excited magnetic gear (HEMG) with eccentric magnet structure. The novel HEMG has a higher electromagnetic torque when compared to its conventional counterpart. This study looks into the magnetic field of coaxial magnetic gear during overload, and investigates the cause of demagnetization of permanent magnets (PMs) on rotor. The PMs are attached to the inner and outer rotor; PMs of inner rotor are eccentric structure and magnetized along the radial direction, PMs of outer rotor are the radial magnetized, and the outer rotor yoke is slotted and injected with current. The proposed HEMG topology with 4 inner and 23 outer pole pairs is established; the corresponding magnetic flux density distributions, electromagnetic torque, and torque ripples are assessed and verified by finite element analysis. Finally, the HEMG is built and tested; the test results show that its transmission efficiency is up to 92.6, and the effective length of the prototype corresponds to the torque density that is 135.15kNmm3.

Abstract:This paper describes a two-dimensional (2-D) analytical model to predict the magnetic field distribution in axial-field magnetic gears by using the sub-domain method. The sub-domain method consists in solving the partial differential equations linked to the Maxwell's equations in each rectangular region (magnets, air gaps, and slots) by the separation of variables method. The proposed model is based on a two-dimensional approximation for the magnetic field distribution (mean radius model) i.e. the problem is solved in 2-D Cartesian coordinates. One of the main contributions of the paper concerns the analytic solution of the magnetic field in a slot open on the two sides (space between the ferromagnetic pole-pieces). Moreover, it is shown that the analytical model and the 3-D finite elements simulations follow the same trends in the determination of the optimum values for the geometrical parameters. As the analytical model takes less computational time than 3-D numerical model, it can be used as an effective tool for the first step of design optimization.
