Abstract:Charge transfer processes for Ar~3+ on Ar collisions at 27 keV,45 keV and 66 keV have been studied,and absolute cross sections for each channel have been obtained by normalizing to the cross sections reported by Bliman,Dousson,et al.Experiment shows that electron capture is the dominant process;transfer ionization contributions,however,can not be neglected.Further more,the cross sections for each channel found to be independent on projectile energy.The experimental results have also been compared with theoretical calculations,which are based on the MCBM(Molecular Coulombic overBarrier Model) considering auto-ionization.The model calculations predict there are no transfer ionization contributions,but experiments found that transfer ionization contributions are not negligible.For single-and double-electron capture,the experimental results are in reasonable agreement with the MCBM calculations,but MCBM predicts larger cross sections,and for triple-electron capture,the result of MCBM is one order bigger than the measured value.
