Abstract:Objective To study the biological effects of Apocynum venetum tea on cardiovascular system for providing a direct research basis on the medical application of Apocynum venetum tea.Methods The biological effects of Apocynum venetum tea on cardiovascular system,including it's blood pressure reduction function,serum lipids decreasing effects,and anti-aging effects were studied.Results Experimental data showed that Apocynum venetum tea attributed to lowering high blood pressure in hypertension rats,to decreasing the serum contents of TC,TG,LDL-C and increasing the serum contents of HDLC in heperlipidemia rats,and Apocynum venetum tea could prolong the average life span and maximum life span in Drosophila melanogaster,reduce serum MDA content and increase serum SOD activity in mice.Conclusion The data indicates that Apocynum venetum tea is likely to have effects on lowering high blood pressure,regulating blood lipid metabolism and anti-aging,thus owns its great potential to be used as a natural health product for preventing human cardiac and vascular diseases.
