Abstract:In this Letter, we shall investigate whether there are Bell-type inequalities for systems of N qubits which are violated by all inseparable states. It can be shown that there is such a Bell-type inequality and violating it is equivalent to being inseparable.

Abstract:We present a set of Bell inequalities for multiqubit quantum systems. These Bell inequalities are shown to be able to detect multiqubit entanglement better than previous Bell inequalities such as Werner-Wolf-Zukowski- Brukner ones. Computable formulas are presented for calculating the maximal violations of these Bell inequalities for any multiqubit states.

Abstract:We present a Bell-type inequality for four-qubit systems. Using the inequality we investigate quantum nonlocality of a generic family of states $\left|G_{abcd}\right >$ [Phys. Rev. A 65, 052112 (2002)] and several canonical four-qubit entangled states. It has been demonstrated that the inequality is maximally violated by so called "four-qubit maximal entangled state $\left|G_{m}\right >$" and it is also violated by the four-qubit W state and a special family of states $\left|G_{ab00}\right >$. Moreover, a useful entanglement-nonlocality relationship for the family of states $\left|G_{ab00}\right >$ is obtained.

Abstract:We present a family of Bell inequalities involving only two measurement settings of each party for N > 2 qubits. Our inequalities include all the standard ones with fewer than N qubits and thus give a natural generalization. It is shown that all the Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger states violate the inequalities maximally, with an amount that grows exponentially as 2((N-2)/2). The inequalities are also violated by some states that do satisfy all the standard Bell inequalities. Remarkably, our results yield in an efficient and simple way an implementation of nonlocality tests of many qubits favorably within reach of the well-established technology of linear optics.

Abstract:A state-dependent proof of Bell's theorem without inequalities using the product state of any two maximally entangled states (Bell states) of two qubits for two observers in an ideal condition, each of which possesses two qubits,is proposed. It is different from the other proofs in which there exists a fundamental requirement that certain specific suitable Bell states have been chosen. Moreover, in any non-ideal situation, a common Bell inequality independent of the choices of the 16-product states is derived, which is used to test the contradiction between quantum mechanics and local reality theory in the reach of current experimental technology.

Abstract:A systematic approach is presented to construct non-homogeneous two- and three-qubit Bell-type inequalities. When projector-like terms are subtracted from homogeneous two-qubit CHSH polynomial, non-homogeneous inequalities are attained and the maximal quantum mechanical violation asymptotically equals a constant with the subtracted terms becoming sufficiently large. In the case of three-qubit system, it is found that most significant three-qubit inequalities presented in literature can be recovered in our framework. We aslo discuss the behavior of such inequalities in the loophole-free Bell test and obtain corresponding thresholds of detection efficiency.

Abstract:Quantum 8, 1333 (2024). https://doi.org/10.22331/q-2024-05-02-1333 Bell inequalities play a key role in certifying quantum properties for device-independent quantum information protocols. It is still a major challenge, however, to devise Bell inequalities tailored for an arbitrary given quantum state. Existing approaches based on sums of squares provide results in this direction, but they are restricted by the necessity of first choosing measurement settings suited to the state. Here, we show how the sum of square property can be enforced for an arbitrary target state by making an appropriate choice of nullifiers, which is made possible by leaving freedom in the choice of measurement. Using our method, we construct simple Bell inequalities for several families of quantum states, including partially entangled multipartite GHZ states and qutrit states. In most cases we are able to prove that the constructed Bell inequalities achieve self-testing of the target state. We also use the freedom in the choice of measurement to self-test partially entangled two-qubit states with a family of settings with two parameters. Finally, we show that some statistics can be self-tested with distinct Bell inequalities, hence obtaining new insight on the shape of the set of quantum correlations.

Abstract:We show that a single Bell's inequality with two dichotomic observables for each observer, which originates from Hardy's nonlocality proof without inequalities, is violated by all entangled pure states of a given number of particles, each of which may have a different number of energy levels. Thus Gisin's theorem is proved in its most general form from which it follows that for pure states Bell's nonlocality and quantum entanglement are equivalent.

Abstract:First, we present a Bell type inequality for n qubits, assuming that m out of the n qubits are independent. Quantum mechanics violates this inequality by a ratio that increases exponentially with m. Hence an experiment on n qubits violating of this inequality sets a lower bound on the number m of entangled qubits. Next, we propose a definition of maximally entangled states of n qubits. For this purpose we study 5 different criteria. Four of these criteria are found compatible. For any number n of qubits, they determine an orthogonal basis consisting of maximally entangled states generalizing the Bell states.

Abstract:For a two spin-1 particles system, we derive a new Bell's type inequality for local hidden variables model. For the singlet state for two spin-1 particles, we show that the inequality is violated while it is satisfied for the direct product state.

Abstract:We use the Clauser-Horne-Shimony-Holt (CHSH) inequality to investigate the relationship among entanglement, purity and violation of the Bell inequality. On the one hand, we show numerically that all two-dimensional (qubit) states, whose entanglement of formation (EOF) is larger than 2 + root 2/4, violate the CHSH inequality. On the other hand, any state with purity smaller than 0.5562 may not violate it.

Abstract:All the states of N qubits can be classified into N-1 entanglement classes from 2-entangled to N-entangled (fully entangled) states. Each class of entangled states is characterized by an entanglement index that depends on the partition of N. The larger the entanglement index of a state, the more entangled or the less separable is the state in the sense that a larger maximal violation of Bell's inequality is attainable for this class of state.

Abstract:In the celebrated paper [D. Collins, N. Gisin, J. Phys. A Math. Gen. 37 (2004) 1775], Collins and Gisin presented for the first time a three-setting Bell inequality (here we call it CG inequality for simplicity) which is relevant to the Clauser–Horne–Shimony–Holt (CHSH) inequality. Inspired by their brilliant ideas, we obtained some multi-setting tight Bell inequalities, which are relevant to the CHSH inequality and the CG inequality. Moreover, we generalized the method in the paper [J.L. Chen, D.L. Deng, Phys. Rev. A 79 (2009) 012115] to construct Bell inequality for qubits to higher dimensional system. Based on the generalized method, we present, for the first time, a three-setting tight Bell inequality for two qutrits, which is maximally violated by nonmaximally entangled states and relevant to the Collins–Gisin–Linden–Massar–Popescu inequality.

Abstract:We propose Bell inequalities for discrete or continuous quantum systems which test the compatibility of quantum physics with an interpretation in terms of deterministic hidden-variable theories. The wave function collapse that occurs in a sequence of quantum measurements enters the upper bound via the concept of quantum conditional probabilities. The resulting hidden-variable inequality is applicable to an arbitrary observable that is decomposable into a weighted sum of non-commuting projectors. We present local and non-local examples of violation of generalized Bell inequalities in phase space, which sense the negativity of the Wigner function.

Abstract:In this Letter, we study the quantum nature of non-Bunch–Davies states in de Sitter space by evaluating CHSH inequality on a localized two-atom system. We show that quantum nonlocality can be generated through the Markovian evolution of two-atom, witnessed by a violation of CHSH inequality on its final equilibrium state. We find that the upper bound of inequality violation is determined by different choices of de Sitter-invariant vacua sectors. In particular, with growing Gibbons–Hawking temperature, the CHSH bound degrades monotonously for Bunch–Davies vacuum sector. Due to the intrinsic correlation of non-Bunch–Davies vacua, we find that the related violation of inequality can however drastically increase after certain turning point, and may persist for arbitrarily large environment decoherence. This implies that the CHSH inequality is useful to classify the initial quantum state of the Universe. Finally, we clarify that the witnessed intrinsic correlation of non-Bunch–Davies vacua can be utilized for quantum information applications, e.g., surpassing the Heisenberg uncertainty bound of quantum measurement in de Sitter space.

Abstract:In this paper, we construct a general Bell inequality for the graph state. Firstly, we show that the Bell inequality is maximally violated by graph state corresponding to some given graph. In addition, we obtain the classical bound and maximal quantum violation of Bell inequality are N + |n(i)|− 1 and $N+(\sqrt {2}-1)(|n(i)|+1)$ , respectively. Furthermore, the classical bound and maximal quantum violation of Bell inequality are dependent on the choice of the vertex for most graphs expect for complete graph.

Abstract:Elegant Bell inequality is well known for its much exploited property, being maximally violated by maximal entanglement, mutually unbiased bases, and symmetric informationally complete positive operator-valued measure elements. It is the only one with such property known so far. We present a method to construct Bell inequalities with violation feature analogous to original elegant Bell inequality in high dimension from a simple analytic quantum bound. A Bell inequality with such feature is derived in three dimension for the first time. It shows larger violation than existing Bell inequalities of similar classes while requiring arguably small number of measurements.
