Clinical Application and Evaluation of Cefepime

Abstract:Objective:To evaluate the application of cefepime in the inpatients in part of departments in Hospital Affiliated to Xuzhou Medical College and to provide reference for reasonable use of antibiotics.Methods:Among 2113 records from July 2011 to Dec.2011,100 records of cefepime were randomly sampled.Medical information was collected and classified including the reason of cefepime utilization,treatment procedure,adverse drug reaction and curative effect.Drug utilization evaluation(DUE) method was used to analyze the rationality of drug use retrospectively.Results:Among 100 records,43 cases were in line with cefepime indications,20 cases and 11 cases were respectively underway bacterial culture and susceptibility testing before drug use,and 10 cases had adverse drug reaction;Clinical symptoms of 95 cases were obviously improved.Conclusions:Clinicians ignored bacterial culture and susceptibility testing,low pathogenic submission and testing for a long time which can not instruct the clinical treatmented sufficiently.Changing or joint use of antibiotics had to be supervised and intervented,when no laboratory evidence or clinical indications were found
