Abstract:In this paper, we prove several inequalities in the acute triangle by means of so- called Difference Substitution. As generalization of the method, we also consider an example that the greatest interior angle is less than or equal to 120 in the triangle.

Abstract:Pseudo-splines of type I were introduced in [I. Daubechies, B. Han, A. Ron, Z. Shen, Framelets: MRA-based constructions of wavelet frames, Appl. Comput. Harmon. Anal. 14 (2003) 1–46] and [Selenick, Smooth wavelet tight frames with zero moments, Appl. Comput. Harmon. Anal. 10 (2000) 163–181] and type II were introduced in [B. Dong, Z. Shen, Pseudo-splines, wavelets and framelets, Appl. Comput. Harmon. Anal. 22 (2007) 78–104]. Both types of pseudo-splines provide a rich family of refinable functions with B-splines, interpolatory refinable functions and refinable functions with orthonormal shifts as special examples. In [B. Dong, Z. Shen, Pseudo-splines, wavelets and framelets, Appl. Comput. Harmon. Anal. 22 (2007) 78–104], Dong and Shen gave a regularity analysis of pseudo-splines of both types. The key to regularity analysis is Proposition 3.2 in [B. Dong, Z. Shen, Pseudo-splines, wavelets and framelets, Appl. Comput. Harmon. Anal. 22 (2007) 78–104], which also appeared in [A. Cohen, J.P. Conze, Régularité des bases d'ondelettes et mesures ergodiques, Rev. Mat. Iberoamericana 8 (1992) 351–365] and [I. Daubechies, Ten Lectures on Wavelets, CBMS-NSF Series in Applied Mathematics, SIAM, Philadelphia, 1992] for the case l=N−1. In this note, we will give a new insight into this proposition.

Abstract:In this paper, we establish the following trigonometric inequality and another two similar inequalities: 8xy cosA(x cosB + y cosC)² ≤ (x² + y²)², where A,B,C are the angles of triangle ABC and x, y ≥ 0, with equality holding if and only if √((x² + y²)/2a) = xb = yc. Abstract:This paper presents some new inequalities, the most important of which is the inequality given in Theorem 2.1. It can solve a class of inequalities by a unified method. An important application of the inequality given in Theorem 2.1 is to derive another new general form of inequality. The famous Nesbitt's inequality is a special case of this general form of inequality when n = 3. The new inequality in Theorem 2.1 proposed in this paper is easy to use and expand, and many new inequalities can be derived and obtained by direct calculation, so it has a wide range of applications. Many known inequalities can also be directly calculated by the inequalities proposed in this paper, and the calculation is simple and convenient.

Abstract:Using the result of the error estimate of the simple extended Newton method established in the present paper for solving abstract inequality systems, we study the error bound property of approximate solutions of abstract inequality systems on Banach spaces with the involved function F being Fréchet differentiable and its derivative F^' satisfying the center-Lipschitz condition (not necessarily the Lipschitz condition) around a point x 0 . Under some mild conditions, we establish results on the existence of the solutions, and the error bound properties for approximate solutions of abstract inequality systems. Applications of these results to finite/infinite systems of inequalities/equalities on Banach spaces are presented and the error bound properties of approximate solutions of finite/infinite systems of inequalities/equalities are also established. Our results extend the corresponding results in [ 3 , 18 , 19 ].

Abstract:We consider conic inequality systems of the type$F(x)\ge_K 0$, with approximate solution $x_0$ associated to a parameter $\tau$,where $F$ is a twice Fréchet differentiable function between Hilbert spaces $X$ and $Y$, and$\ge_K$ is the partial order in $Y$ defined by anonempty convex (not necessarily closed) cone $K\subseteq Y$.We prove that, under the suitable conditions,the system $F(x)\ge_K 0$is solvable, and the ratio of the distance from $x_0$ to the solution set $S$ over the distance from $F(x_0)$ to the cone $K$ has anupper bound given explicitlyin terms of $\tau$ and $x_0$. We show that the upper bound is sharp.Applications to analytic function inequality/equality systems on Euclidean spaces are given,and the corresponding results of Dedieu [ SIAM J. Optim. , 11 (2000), pp. 411--425] are extended and significantly improved.

Abstract:In the paper we prove generalization of Schlömilch's and Zetel's theorems about concurrent lines in a triangle. This generalization is obtained as a corollary of sharp geometric inequality about the ratio of triangular areas which is proved using discrete variant of Hölder's inequality. Also a new sharp refinement of J.F. Rigby's inequality, which itself generalized Möbius theorem about the areas of triangles formed by cevians of a triangle, is proved.

A New Diophantine Approximation Inequality on Surfaces and Its Applications

Abstract:We prove a Diophantine approximation inequality for closed subschemes on surfaces which can be viewed as a joint generalization of recent inequalities of Ru-Vojta and Heier-Levin in this context. As applications, we study various Diophantine problems on affine surfaces given as the complement of three numerically parallel ample projective curves: inequalities involving greatest common divisors, degeneracy of integral points, and related Diophantine equations including families of S-unit equations. We state analogous results in the complex analytic setting, where our main result is an inequality of Second Main Theorem type for surfaces, with applications to the study and value distribution theory of holomorphic curves in surfaces.

Abstract:In this paper we consider system of inequalities. By constructing a new smoothing function, the problem is approximated via a family of parameterized smooth equations. A Newton-type algorithm is applied to solve iteratively the smooth equations so that a solution of the problem concerned is found. We show that the algorithm is globally and locally quadratically convergent under suitable assumptions. Preliminary numerical results are reported.

Abstract:Automated discovering and proving for geometric inequalities have been considered a difficult topic in the area of automated reasoning for manyy ears. Some well-known algorithms are complete theoretically but inefficient in practice, and cannot verify non-trivial propositions in batches. In this paper, we present an efficient algorithm to discover and prove a class of inequality-type theorems automatically by combining discriminant sequence for polynomials with Wu's elimination and a partial cylindrical algebraic decomposition. Also this algorithm is applied to the classification of the real physical solutions of geometric constraint problems. Manygeom etric inequalities have been discovered by our program, DISCOVERER, which implements the algorithm in Maple.

Abstract:In 2005,Wang,Wang and Feng proposed subspaces dissimilarity(WWF-SSD) and achieved good performance by combining this measurement with Bayesian face recognition algorithm.However,the WWF-SSD′s triangle inequality, which is the key condition of a distance,has not been proved.In this paper,we present an equivalent definition of WWF-SSD in terms of matrices.Based on this definition and the trick of matrices,we show that the triangle inequality of WWF-SSD holds.Thus,WWF-SSD is a distance undoubtedly.

Abstract:The first goal of this paper is to prove a sharp condition to guarantee of having a positive proportion of all congruence classes of triangles in given sets in ūĚĒĹ q 2 . More precisely, for A , B , C ‚äā ūĚĒĹ q 2 , if | A | ‚ĀĘ | B | ‚ĀĘ | C | 1 2 ‚Čę q 4 , then for any őĽ ‚ąą ūĚĒĹ q ‚ąĖ { 0 } , the number of congruence classes of triangles with vertices in A √ó B √ó C and one side-length őĽ is at least ‚Čę q 2 . In higher dimensions, we obtain similar results for k -simplex but under a slightly stronger condition. Compared to the well-known L 2 method in the literature, our approach offers better results in both conditions and conclusions. When A = B = C , the second goal of this paper is to give a new and unified proof of the best current results on the distribution of simplex due to Bennett, Hart, Iosevich, Pakianathan and Rudnev (2017) and McDonald (2020). The third goal of this paper is to study a Furstenberg-type problem associated to a set of rigid motions. The main ingredients in our proofs are incidence bounds between points and rigid motions. While the incidence bounds for large sets are due to the author and Semin Yoo (2023), the bound for small sets will be proved by using a point‚Äďline incidence bound in ūĚĒĹ q 3 due to Koll√°r (2015).
