Abstract:The general education is different from the professional education ,its aim is to develop the idealist who have the right values,perfect personality,and responsiblity for the society. The purpose of general education determines its culture that plays an indispensable role in general education. Based on analysis and elaboration of the connotation and its education significance of the university culture ,the author has discussed the cultural value of general education from the general educational objective ,curriculum and its process these three aspects in this paper,and has put forward that building and value mining general educational culture is a necessary choice which the general education and its quality can be improved.

Abstract:Embedding general education in the Chinese university education system is a considerably complex systemic project, and a lack of institutional arrangements beneficial to general education has always been a key barrier in implementation. Currently, the main institutional restricting factors for university general education include substantial major-based education systems, scattered credit management systems, lack of a distributive elective system with interdisciplinary integration, and a vertically segmented course management system. In the process from popularizing to deepening general education, Chinese universities must move from imitating and transplanting toward local construction; establish the new ideal of undergraduate general education; focus on building featured, university-based fundamental general education curricula; and seek out a path that suits the institutional environment of Chinese universities.

Abstract:In the new era of leapfrog development and popularization of higher education, applied undergraduate universities play a vital role in the higher education system in China, becoming an indispensable force in building a powerful higher education country. Compared with the cultivation of academic talents, the cultivation of applied talents pays more attention to the traing of professional knowledge, abilities, and qualities, and pays more attention to the practicality and adaptability of talent cultivation. However, applied talents are not only technical specialists, but must also have goodcomprehensive quality, including citizenship, professional ethics, humanistic accomplishment, scientific literacy, etc., in order to better adapt to the needs of future development and change. Applied universities pay more attention to cultivating students’ practical application ability and entrepreneurial ability. General education in applied undergraduate universities has a significant impact on the process of talent cultivation. Based on the analysis of the current situation of general education in applied undergraduate universities, this article proposes ways to improve the quality of general education in applied undergraduate universities from updating the concept of general education, optimizing the setting of general education courses, reforming the teaching mode of general education, strengthening the construction of teacher teams, improving the evaluation system of general education, and expanding international exchanges and cooperation.

Abstract:The relationship between general education and specialty education has been an important issue in world higher education,and it has not been fully discussed or implemented either in theory or practice in China.This paper first introduces the new strategies adopted by the Yuanpei Program of Peking University in its implementation of general education and the impact of these strategies. Abstract:The current social situation of China has exerted a job-seeking orientation on the undergraduate teaching of universities.It brings an idea-crisis to contemporary universities,and puts the education into the highlight of the public attention.There are two different concepts of general education,which has led the Chinese reformation of undergraduate teaching to a crossroads.From the standpoint of the university idea,this paper disputes the utilitarian concept of the education and suggests that the education should provide the basis for the students' growing up in their independent thinking and spiritual taste and intuition.And without the basis,the creative talents of moral integrity cannot be formed in universities.

Abstract:In the context of strengthening cultural confidence, general education in universities should be based on Chinese traditional culture and take western theories as reference in the academic tide of studying the localization of general education. From the perspective of cultural standard, taking“seeking moderation ”“（Zhi Liang Yong Zhong”） education concept as the core, QIAN Mu put forward the educational aim of cultivating“intellectuals”, interpreted general education and professional education as well as their relationship. He worried about the prevalence of professional education, and argued that the general education should be paid more attention to and be integrated with professional education in universities. He implemented relevant measures in his educational practice. In addition, he emphasized that teachers should be wise while the students should be sincere, self-aware and flexible in learning. Nowadays, all of these have certain guiding significance and reference value to the theory and practice of general education in colleges and universities in China.
