Abstract:"Urban village" phenomenon appears to be problem in most cities' development of urbanization and industrialization. Acute changes of customs, behavior, and ideology have been shifting almost every aspects of the villagers' life. An investigation in both change and meditation of the "urban village" inhabitants in western region of Hangzhou shows that reason of acculturation. By exploiting the advantage of government, improving quality level of the inhabitants, fostering the transformation of participation and fulfilling the benefits of the inhabitants, the acculturation could be realized in economic, social and psychological aspects of "urban village" in Hangzhou.

Abstract:This paper studies the incorporation of migrant workers in the Chinese urban society and the challenges they face through questionnaire surveys on migrant workers and urban residents and corresponding statistical analysis.The authors argue that in Zhejiang Province,with its fast growing rural urbanization,there is a good amalgamation in the numbers of migrant workers and urban residents.Most migrant workers are satisfied with their lives in the cities,having strong desires to be incorporated into city life.73.61% of migrant workers want to have more interactions with the local urban residents;67.31% want to be recognized as part of the city;a little over 10% think they're not incorporated into the urban society at all.Psychologically,urban residents understand migrant workers rather than discriminate against them.In reality,however,they don't really want to have interactions with them.Urban residents get to know migrant workers mainly through newspapers and TV programs.The mass media has important influences on the attitudes of the urban residents.It therefore has an important task to help the urban residents understand migrant workers.The mass media should give more publicity to the migrant workers' new images and their great contributions to the urban construction.It has a lot to do in strengthening urban residents' positive impressions of migrant workers.The ″new dual social structure″ formed in the cities is a key institutional factor inhibiting the construction of a harmonious urban society.There are distinct differences between ″migrant workers″ and ″urban residents″.Although migrant workers are workers in urban industries,their retained identity as peasants from the country makes them suffer from serious and unfair treatment in terms of allocation(wages) and reallocation(social securities).They are marginalized,a vulnerable group unsecured in the cities.Therefore,promoting the integrated urban-rural reforms and entitling peasants to equal treatment with urban residents is an institutional guarantee for promoting the incorporation of migrant workers into the urban society and achieving a harmonious relationship between migrant workers and urban residents.The key solution is to have both urban and rural residents entitled to equal rights,obligations and development opportunities.That is to say,urban and rural residents should equally enjoy rights of property,education,employment,social securities,social welfare and individual development, and equally shoulder the compulsory obligations stipulated by laws and regulations.Urban and rural economic entities should equally enjoy such development opportunities as admission to certain industries and credit services,and equally shoulder such social obligations as taxes and labor insurances.

Abstract:In the current circumstances,employment pressure has increased and the social security system needs to be perfect.If farmers lose land,it means losing basic survival protection and being poor in urban area,so we should change the current low standards of resettlement and land requisition form.Otherwise,the result will inevitably affect the building of a harmonious society.Based on Ningbo example,we think that we should establish the social security system of landless peasants at the core of employment,based on the innovative mechanisms and the combination of new rural construction.

Abstract:Some relocated people have difficulties in recovering in Xiluodu Proj ect,thus canceling a number of resettlement plans, which demonstrates the limitation of traditional compensation policy based on material losses.In order to find the details of the prob-lems and their solutions,we conduct an investigation based on the Livelihood Resources Framework in Xiluodu proj ect supported by data collected from 5 7 1 migrants,we analyze the variation trend of livelihood capital before and after the resettlement.The results indicate that some kinds of livelihood resources are on the rise,such as the use of water and electricity,the conditions of transporta-tion,skills of industrial producing.On the other hand,some livelihood resources are declining,such as skills of farming,the amount of land,conditions of animal husbandry,household income and security conditions.Furthermore,we propose some suggestions for the proj ect based on the results of investigation.First,we take advantage of the increase in non-agricultural population ratio,the in-dustrial income and the geographical conditions to accelerate urbanization and income reconstruction by encouraging labor export. Second,we provide more training for the relocated people and put more effort in maintaining good security conditions.

Abstract:The“new century literature”has surpassed“new literature”in two aspects:one is the possi- ble reflection on the“reality”,which leads to the new understanding of literary complexity,and the other is the focus on the details of everyday life,which reflects a series of troubles and worries,namely,how to face everydayness.The felt everydayness is of literary characteristic in the current situation.The troubles that everydayness has brought about are embodied in such literary phenomena of“base level”,“odd- jobbers”,“new juvenile writers”and others.This everydayness is one of the subjects in the new context of writing.

Abstract:The people's livelihood is the foundation for human society,which relates both to each individual interest and to the social justice. Considering the nature and contents of the contemporary people's livelihood,the government has to put more emphasis on the citizen-participation in the settlement of the problems in the people's livelihood. This paper,based on the case study of Hangzhou,has concluded that citizen participation can improve the government performance in the settlement of the problems of the people's livelihood. It also tries to provide some valuable insights into the development of local democracy by taking Hangzhou as an example.

Abstract:Recently, increasingly sophisticated studies have investigated the relationship between agrarian livelihoods and the environment, as well as rural–urban interactions in developing countries. The policies developed to respond to these dynamics can constrain livelihood options or provide additional opportunities. In the present study, using a modified version of the telecoupled sustainable livelihood framework to generalize dynamic livelihood strategies in the context of rural–urban transformation and by focusing on recent research in China, we review important factors that shape rural livelihood strategies as well as the types of strategies that typically intersect with livelihood and environmental dynamics. We then examine telecoupled rural–urban linkages given that the dynamics of the livelihood strategies of farmers can cause flows of labor, capital, ecosystem services, and other processes between rural and urban areas, thereby placing livelihood strategies in a dynamic context, which has not been considered widely in previous research. We show that most previous studies focused on the reduction of environmental impacts via livelihood diversification and rural–urban migration. We propose several areas for future policy development and research.

Abstract:China's Livelihood TV news and US public news have some superficial and topical relation,but each is facing totally different pressure: public news is subjected to excess commercialization as well as the loss of news commonality,while livelihood news is under the pressure of insufficient commercialization,excess propaganda and the loss of news nature.Moreover,different social systems result in different trend of the two journalistic movements.Livelihood news relies on the rise of Chinese people's consciousness of citizenship whereas public news is based on communitarianism and advisory politics.Despite the slim chance that Chinese livelihood news grows into American-style public news,the livelihood news in transition can draw inspiration from the latter's journalistic ideas and practice.

Abstract:By fully utilizing its locational advantage, Dongguan has experienced dramatic economic development and urban growth since adoption of the open-door policies in 1978. However, under the practice of rural industrialization and urbanization, some serious problems have so far emerged which have drawn much attention of academic researchers and all levels of governments. Based on the in-site fieldwork and questionnaire, this paper systemically analyses the major problems currently faced by the city, including the low efficiency of land use, the problem of migrants, the inadequacy of infrastructures, and etc. Afterwards some countermeasures are put forward.
