Characters and Related Factors of Postoperative Recurrence of Ovarian Carcinoma

Abstract:Objective To analyze the characters and potential factors of postoperative recurrence of ovarian carcinoma.To investigate the methods of preventing and reducing the recurrence of ovarian carcinoma.Methods The clinic-pathological features of 83 patients with ovarian carcinoma,including 34 with recurrence were analyzed retrospectively.Results Among the 79 cases achieved complete remission,34 recurred.The recurrent rate was highest within 1 year,61.8%,and the most common recurrent sites are within pelvic,61.8%.The recurrent rate of FIGO stage Ⅰ-Ⅱ was significantly lower than that of stage Ⅲ～Ⅳ(P0.005).The recurrent rate of serous carcinoma was higher than that of mucous or other s.the recurrent rate of poor or moder ate differentiated cancer was significantly higher than that of well differentiated(P0.05).In cases with2 cm residue,the recurrent rate was significantly lower than those with≥2 cm residue(P0.005).Compared with the patient treated with≥6 chemotherapy cycles the recurrent rate of the patients with 1～5 chemotherapy cycles was higher(P0.05).No significant difference of recurrence was observed between the patients with omental metastasis and without(P0.05),unilateral primary tumor and bilateral(P0.05).Conclusions Ovarian carcinoma mostly recur within 1 year and at pelvic.The recurrence is associated with clinical stage,histological differentiation,postoperative residual size and courses of regular chemotherapy.
