Abstract:The author holds that quantitative approach is inevitable in political studies, but it should be based on concise and strictly defined concepts. On the other hand, development of political studies should not be restricted to quantitative studies. Instead, a paradigm of theoretical interpretation should be developed to support application of the research findings of political studies. Construction of political studies in China does not imply that there is a different political science in different countries and regions. It refers to the Chinese type of political studies. Two objectives are identified in construction of political studies in China, namely, filling in the gap where we have lagged behind in order to develop side by side with the international tendency, and having political studies localized in China.
