Abstract:Single-crystalline Bi4Ti3O12 nanosheets with a thickness less than 10 nm and a lateral size larger than 20 μm have successfully synthesized via a surfactant-free hydrothermal route by employing K2Ti6O13 nanofibers prepared in advance as titanium sources. The as-prepared samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction, field emission scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), high-resolution TEM, and selected area electron diffraction, respectively. The results revealed that the single-crystalline Bi4Ti3O12 nanosheets are dominated with (010) facets. In general, the slow exfoliation of TiO6 octahedron lamella and the fast combination of the subnitrate radicals with the Bi3+ ions situated in (010) planes induce the crystallization of the single-crystalline Bi4Ti3O12 nanosheets. In addition, the as-prepared single-crystalline Bi4Ti3O12 nanosheets propose a narrowed gap of ca. 2.41 eV and after modified by Pt-quantum-dots exhibit excellent visible-light photocatalytic activity. It is believed that the surfactant-free in the hydrothermal system induce more amount of surface state responsible for the narrowed gap and the excellent visible-light photocatalytic activity.

Abstract:Single-crystalline tetragonal perovskite lead titanate (PbTiO3) nanosheets with dominant (001) facets have been successfully synthesized by employing layered K2Ti6O13 nanofibers as titanium sources. The as-prepared PbTiO3 nanosheets were characterized by means of X-ray diffraction, field-emission scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), high-resolution TEM, and selected-area electron diffraction. In order to understand the formation mechanism of the PbTiO3 nanosheets, a series of time-dependent experiments were performed. Because of the substitution of Pb(2+) ions for K(+) ions, the TiO6 octahedral lamellas exfoliate from the layered K2Ti6O13 crystal structure. Then the exfoliated TiO6 octahedral lamellas as templates transform to lamellar PbTiO3 species by reacting with the dehydrated Pb(2+) ions. With hydrothermal treatment prolongation, the lamellar PbTiO3 species crystallize to single-crystalline PbTiO3 nanosheets. Moreover, the thickness of the synthesized single-crystalline PbTiO3 nanosheets can be tailored in the range of 10-50 nm by controlling the hydrothermal treatment time. In addition, the band gap and the optoelectronic properties of the single-crystalline PbTiO3 nanosheets are investigated by UV-vis absorption and photoluminescence.

Abstract:TiO2 nanotubes were prepared through the reaction of TiO2 power in high-concentration NaOH under hydrothermal conditions. X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscope (TEM), scanning electron microscope (SEM), and ultraviolet visible spectrum (UV-Vis) were adopted to analyze as-prepared TiO2 nanotubes. The influence of rutile content in TiO2 powder on the structure and properties of TiO2 nanotube was investigated. The results show that pure rutile TiO2 powder is not conducive to the formation of TiO2 nanotubes, and the mixed crystal TiO2 nanotubes with uniform morphology can be prepared by TiO2 powder with anatase-rutile mixed crystal structure. With the increase of rutile content in the TiO2 powder, the rutile phase increases in as-prepared samples, and the photocatalytic activities first increase, and then decrease. The mixed crystal TiO2 nanotubes with anatase as dominant phase exhibit high photocatalytic decomposition activity to the methyl orange.

Abstract:Nano-structured BaTiO3 (BTO) thin films were electrophoretically deposited from BTO nanoparticle suspensions. The microstructural properties of the nanoparticles and thin films were examined through XRD, HR-TEM, and SEM techniques. BTO nanocrystallites in a pseudo-cubic perovskite phase with an average particle size of about 10nm were synthesized by a high-concentration sol–gel process. By dispersing a piece of BTO bulk gel into a mixed solvent of 2-methoxyethonal and acetylacetone, the well-dispersed and stable suspensions of BTO nanocrystallites were obtained. From these suspensions, crack-free nano-structured BTO thin films with different thickness from 100nm to several micrometers were deposited on Pt/Ti/SiO2/Si substrates by electrophoretic deposition (EPD). The prepared films exhibited a uniform nanostructure, and a smooth surface with a roughness under 10nm. The microstructural and dielectric properties of sintered BTO thin films were evaluated.

Abstract:Single-crystalline bismuth-layered perovskite Bi4Ti3O12 nanosheets with a thickness of about 20 nm and a lateral size over several micrometers have been synthesized by a PVA assisted hydrothermal route. The as-prepared Bi4Ti3O12 nanosheets were characterized by means of X-ray diffraction, field-emission scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and high-resolution TEM. The as-prepared Bi4Ti3O12 nanosheets have (010) dominated surface facets. Time-dependent experiments reveal that the layered K2Ti6O13 nanofibers formed in the initial stage of the hydrothermal treatment play a key role in the synthesis of Bi4Ti3O12. In the proceeding hydrothermal treatment, the Bi3+ ions substitute for the K+ ions in the layered K2Ti6O13 and peel off the TiO6 octahedron lamellae from the lattice of K2Ti6O13, which then serves as a template for the formation of lamellar Bi4Ti3O12 by reaction with the dehydrated Bi3+ ions. Finally, the lamellar Bi4Ti3O12 species crystallize and grow to single-crystalline Bi4Ti3O12 nanosheets under the effect of the preferential adsorption of PVA on the (010) planes. In addition, the band gap and the opto-electronic properties of the single-crystalline Bi4Ti3O12 nanosheets were investigated by measuring their UV-vis absorption and photoluminescence spectra, respectively.

Abstract:Pure and lithium ion doped CaTi2O4 (OH)2 nanosheets were prepared by a hydrothermal method without template or surfactant. X-ray diffraction (XRD), Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) were carried out to investigate the microstructure of the samples. The results showed that the samples own mesoporous structure. Introducing lithium ion improved the surface area and crystal lattice constant of CaTi2O4 (OH)2, but decreased the crystal size. Moreover, the electrochemical properties of CaTi2O4 (OH)2 nanosheets for lithium-ion batteries were improved by introducing lithium ion.

Abstract:Ferroelectric perovskite KNbO3 (KNO) nanosheets with cubic and orthorhombic phases were synthesized by a simple soft chemistry exfoliation at room temperature. KNO nanosheets could be simply obtained by peeling off the layered precursor K2NbO3F in water, while the phase structure of KNO could be controlled by using different precursors. The cubic KNO nanosheets were formed by exfoliating-restacking, while the orthorhombic nanosheets were produced by nucleation-ripening. The photocatalytic performance of these nanosheets has been exploited in degradation Rhodamine B dye. The cubic KNO nanosheets showed obviously better photocatalytic activity, which could be ascribed to its highest symmetry in the bulk structure and its unique electron structure. The high activity of the ferroelectric two dimensional nanosheets indicates a broad spectrum of applications in the photocatalyst fields.

Abstract:Titanium niobate (TiNb2O7) possesses excellent photocatalytic properties, dielectric properties, and lithium-insertion capacity. The bandgap of TiNb2O7 has been engineered by high-pressure up to 47.0 GPa. Its bandgap and color are reversible.

Abstract:Nanocrystalline KTiOPO 4 powders were prepared through a chemical process. This process involved the hydrolysis of KOOCCH 3 · 2H 2 O, Ti(OC 4 H 9 ) 4 , and PO(OR) 3 to produce a homogeneous solution. A gel was formed by the partial evaporation of this solution. After the gel was decomposed at 450 °C, white amorphous powder remained. On calcinating up to 550 °C, the amorphous powder began to transform into nanocrystalline KTiOPO 4 powders with an average particle size of 30–50 nm. The KTiOPO 4 powders were investigated through x-ray diffraction, infrared spectroscopy, and transmission electron microscopy studies.

Abstract:K2Ti6O13 nanowires with an average diameter of about 10 nm were synthesized by a simple hydrothermal reaction between Na2Ti3O7 and KOH. The nanowires were characterized by TEM, XRD, and EDX, and their growth was found to result from an ion exchange induced phase transition process. UV–Vis absorption spectrum of the nanowires shows a red shift relative to that of the raw materials.

Abstract:TiO_2 nanobelts were successfully prepared by pressure-thermalcrystallization method in alkaline solution(KOH) at the temperature ranging from 180℃ to 230℃ using the medial product Ti(OH)_4 as raw material,which obtained from the industrial synthesized process of TiO_2.X ray diffraction(XRD) results showed that TiO_2 was anatase structure;Scanning electron microscopy(SEM) and transmission electron microscopy(TEM) observations demonstrated the average width of TiO_2 was 10~15 nm,with the lengths in the range of several tens to several hundreds micrometers.Further studies implied that the pretreatment of raw material and temperature influence the growth of nanocrystal directly.Longer TiO_2 with uniform size and good quality were obtained when the pH value of solution was 14 and the aged time was 12 hours;the crystallization degree increased with increasing temperature.The formation mechanism of TiO_2 nanobelts was interpreted at last.

Abstract:A new compound K6Ti0.67Nb15.33O42 was prepared for the first time by solid state reaction in K2ONi2O3-Nb2O5 ternary system. The new compound was characterized by electron prober X-ray powder diffraction and DTA. The result of X-ray powder diffraction shows that K6Ti0.67Nb15.3O42 crystallizes the hexagonal system with unit cell parameters a = 9. 1341(5) Angstrom, c = 12. 090(1) Angstrom, and space group P6(3)/mcm(193).

Abstract:A new synthetic strategy was developed to prepare large-sized well-defined anatase TiO(2) nanosheets wholly dominated with thermodynamically unfavorable high-reactive {001} and {100} facets, which has a percentage of 98.7% and 1.3%, respectively. The as-prepared anatase TiO(2) nanosheets show a well-faceted morphology and have a large size in length (ca. 4.14 μm). The formation mechanism of the anatase TiO(2) nanosheets was also analyzed and investigated.

Abstract:Flower-like K2Ti6O13 Nanostructure was synthesized via a hydrothermal method using Tetrabutyl Titanate [Ti(OC4H9)(4)] as the Titanium source and KOH as the Potassium source. Reaction conditions were controlled at 200 degrees C for 10 h in the mixed solution of H2O and ethylene glycol. The crystal structure, chemical composition and microstructure of the as-synthesized product were investigated by XRD, EDX, SEM and TEM. Results show that the flower-like K2Ti6O13 particles are assembled by one-dimensional nanostructures and several typical morphologies such as lotus-like, chrysanthemum-like and dandelion-like shapes are obtained. All of the flower-like particles have fine subsidiary structures. The nanowires as the building blocks display high aspect ratio and various growth directions. The formation of this novel structure may be assigned to the interaction of the intrinsic crystal structure of the product and the complex growth conditions in the ethylene glycol-related solution.

Abstract:Single-layered g-C3N4 nanosheets have been fabricated by delaminating directly its bulk counterpart in an alkaline solution. According to the theoretical modeling, the interaction of OH− with terminal NH2 or bridged NH group of the triazine units within bulk g-C3N4 crystal structure could result in decreased bonding energy between layers and promote the total delamination. The resulting g-C3N4 nanosheets colloid has a relatively high concentration (12g/L) compared with the traditional ultrasonic assistant exfoliation method. The delaminated nanosheets are revealed by atomic force microscopy to show a lateral size of a hundred nanometers and a thickness of about 0.4nm, which provides a direct evidence for the total exfoliation of g-C3N4 crystals into their single sheets. More importantly, the X-ray diffraction measurement confirms that the g-C3N4 nanosheets could be re-assembled with well-preserved original crystal structure. The exfoliation mechanism was also confirmed by the DFT calculation.

Abstract:A new compound K 6Ti 2Nb 11O 42 was found in the ternary system K 2O-TiO 2-Nb 2O 5. The compound was characterised and investigated by electron probe, X-ray powder diffraction and differential thermal analysis . The transparent crystal of light yellow color in form of hexagon-thin plate can be grown by flux method. Further, its crystal structure was determined by four-circle diffratometer . K 6Ti 2Nb 14 O 42 crystallizes in hexegonal system with unitcell parameters a = 9. 1106 (5) �� 10 -10m, c = 12. 0136 (9) �� 10 -10m, Z = 1 and space group P6 3/mcm (193).
