Clinical anaysls of acute exacerbation with multiple organ failure in the elderly patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

Abstract:Objective To observe the clinical characters of acute exacerbation with multiple organ failure(MOF) in the elderly patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disase(COPD).Methods 98 elderly patients of COPD with MOF were reported.Results ①The incidence rate of MOF was 28.4% in the elderly patients with COPD and acute infection was the first factor;② The morbidity of organ failure was in order of respiratory,cardiac,cerebral,renal,liver,gastrointestinal and blood.The highest morbidity was those of respiratory and cardiac;③The more was organ failure,the higher was mortality;④The more was organ failure,the longer was in hospital;⑤Many chronic disorders and consequently using drugs and nurture may help to elevate the incidence rate of MOF in the elderly patients with COPD.Conclusion The more was organ failure,the incidence rate of mortality was higher.It's important and effective to treat the risk factors for reducing the mobidity of MOF and increasing the survival rate in the acute exacerbation COPD.
