Abstract:Journalistic objectivity is one of the most important professional ideals of journalism.However,due to the theoretical and practical dilemma,objectivity in journalism has long been challenged.As the theory of constructionism holds that news is simply a product of social construction,journalism is always disturbed by political,economical and cultural bias and is difficult to maintain objectivity.But,it is still a preferred alternative to show necessary respect for objectivity and turn it into practice before finding a better way to report the truth.

Abstract:As regards the debunking and accusatory attitude as manifest in coverage of critical reports,judges tend to approach and interpret law in more rational and appropriate terms than do journalists who prefer emotional and subjective expression.Media people go by the professional criterion that "constitutive components of news are basically true",when it comes to media objectivity.Judges,however,are inclined to priotize strict objectivity when exposed to media and confronting actual constraints that work against ideal objectivity.

Abstract:Traditional media are facing a crisis of declining trust, public disengagement, and declining revenue. More and more people are avoiding and rejecting traditional news because of its depressing effect on their feelings. The constructive journalism movement seeks to correct the negative bias of traditional journalism, strengthen the connection between the media industry and its audience, and reestablish the authority and legitimacy of journalism. This new model of journalism can give hope to a life that is "not-yet" and encourage people to move forward to solve social problems with a positive mindset. In the current era of public communications, constructive journalism offers a new option for people to rethink the many possibilities for journalists, the news communication system, and the journalism industry and thus shape their own social roles and positioning.

Abstract:Misbehaviour and malpractices of Chinese journalists in recent years have brought media corruption under the spotlight. The lack of professionalism and scarcity of fully established ethics in media organisations have made the case worse. However, while Chinese media and academics concentrate narrowly on paid-for news or gag fee by prompting the enforcement of disciplinary restraints and ‘thought education’, this hot issue has been largely ignored by western scholars and has only been occasionally reported by some western media. Based mainly on prominent cases and document studies, this article classifies three major types of media corruption in the Chinese context: (1) individual red-envelope taking, (2) institutional profit seeking and (3) personal businesses benefiting from the identity of a reporter. It then explores two major endogenous causes of media corruption: media’s unique role in China’s political power structure and their monopoly in information collection and delivery. Two current countermeasures undertaken against this phenomenon in China are finally analysed.

Abstract:A judicial analysis on sinicization of Marx and Engels' rule and principle of press supersizing mainly discuss the follow issues: "Organic Newspaper Movement" advocates that press show the fact and truth by correcting continuously the inaccurate reports,but Chinese judicature obey the idea and norm of "Judicial Truth" which demands a fact being proved by legal evidences;The acerbic and combative words of press supersizing advocated by Marx and Engels sometimes inevitably has its nature of demeaning personal dignity,the sort of offensive words is typically deviate from "prohibiting insulting by words" which is emphasized during the trial of speech cases; Marx and Engels repeatedly indicate that official's privacy in political affairs must be reported by newspapers,however,present Chinese judicial practice does not defer to the principle of weakening or derogation for protection of official privacy.

Abstract:We conclude that journalism is not an entirely mature profession.Journalism professionalism is being shaped.In fact,affected by culture,social system and personal education,Chinese journalists today are hard to be called a professional staff.Journalism education has not acquired enough dignity and high evaluation from journalists.Some people think there is a long distance between education and practice;others feel a lack of things to be compared with students in other professions.Talking with interviewees,we notice that there is a wrong idea that indicated journalism education is of no use.Some media even consider refusing students of journalism major.In our opinion,it does not match the international trend and is to some extend a denial of Chinese journalism education.We find benefits from professional journalism education as follows:Firstly,it can advance journalists' sense of responsibility;secondly,it can cultivate their professional ethics;thirdly,it can teach journalists advanced writing and management skills;fourthly,it can offer journalists wide a global outlook;fifthly,it can offer them a profound background of humanism and social sciences.There are some obvious problems in the Chinese journalism education.Firstly,training of professional skills has to be strengthened.The current training education cannot prepare students to handle the practical work in a short time.Secondly,the journalism education lacks hardware,which means that it is difficult for students to command the professional skills.Thirdly,education of theory and practice is somehow disjointed.In order to solve these problems,universities have to collaborate with the media,while the media can participate in journalism education,too.If allowed,universities can even cultivate journalists for the media with certain direction.

Abstract:Based on content analysis of New York Times reports on Wenchuan earthquake,the research discovers that "reasons for the collapse of schoolhouse","disaster relief","human right" and"post disaster reconstruction"are top issues of this crisis report.Taking this agenda as the focus of others’perception,the writer makes cross examination of Chinese government performance in this crisis management,and explores the success and the failure of government behavior in crisis communication.The conclusion is that although there exist some biased reports by New York Times,more improvement on the technique of Chinese government crisis communication should be addressed.Therefore,such techniques as credibility of official response,certainty of fulfilling promise,fairness on official investigation are put forward to better government performance in crisis communication.

Abstract:The Reporter's Privilege contains such conflicts among objective truth and legal truth,journalism ethics,civil entity responsible of private law and citizenship consciousness,procedural obligations of public law,freedom of express and justice,and it is only relative privilege which owns common applied principle in two legal system,that is "Overwhelming Public Interest Necessity" principle.Based on the principle,the privilege has been recognized in civil litigation,but has been more restricted in criminal procedure.The main restricting ways are providing applying object of the privilege,crime types which don't apply the right and circumstances.
