Abstract:Ethnopharmacological relevance Celosia cristata L. ( C. cristata ) is a widely used herb in China and has been used as a medicine for more than 1000 years. The herb has been clinically employed to treat various types of bleeding disorders including metrorrhagia, metrostaxis, and leukorrheal diseases, gastrointestinal infections. Aim of the study This review provides a comprehensive analysis of C. cristata, encompassing its botany, traditional applications, phytochemistry, pharmacology, safety, and quality control. Additionally, it delves into the prevailing challenges and limitations with contemporary research concerning C. cristata, thus furnishing valuable insights for future investigations in this domain. Materials and methods Research data were gathered from authoritative sources including the Pharmacopoeia of China, the Flora of China, as well as various internet databases such as Web of Science, CAS CiFinder, PubMed, Science Direct, and CNKI, along with numerous ancient classics on Chinese herbal medicine. Results Clinical applications of C. cristata demonstrate its efficacy in treating dysfunctional uterine bleeding, vaginitis, and pelvic inflammatory disease. Presently, seventy-seven compounds have been isolated, including flavonoids, triterpenoids, steroids, organic acids, phenylpropanoids, and alkaloids, with flavonoids and triterpenoids emerging as the primary bioactive constituents. Pharmacological studies reveal its diverse biological activities, such as haemostatic, antitrichomonal, antibacterial, antiviral, analgesic, immunoregulatory, anti-inflammatory, anticancer, hepatoprotective, and antioxidant effects. Leveraging network pharmacology, researchers have embarked on preliminary inquiries into the interplay among chemical constituents, molecular targets and pathological conditions. Conclusions C. cristata shows significant potential for use in hemostasis, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial treatments. Modern research has revealed its diverse chemical composition and pharmacological activities, making it highly valuable for further study. At the same time, it is necessary to find the characteristic components of C. cristata and establish better quality control standards to better explore its therapeutic potential.

Abstract:<h3 class="u-h4 u-margin-m-top u-margin-xs-bottom">Ethnopharmacological relevance</h3>Clematis chinensis Osbeck (C. chinensis), Clematis hexapetala Pall (C. hexapetala) and Clematis terniflora var. mandshurica Rupr (C. mandshurica) are collectively referred to as Clematidis Radix et Rhizome (CRR) in China. CRR is widely distributed in China, which is used as a traditional Chinese medicine to treat rheumatic arthralgia, limb numbness, tendon constriction and inconvenience in flexion and extension.<h3 class="u-h4 u-margin-m-top u-margin-xs-bottom">Aims of this review</h3>This review systematically summarized the research progress on uses, chemical components, pharmacological activities and toxicology of CRR, listed the chemical structures of main compounds for clarifying the differences in chemical compositions. Meanwhile, the review will provide a theoretical and practical basis for the further research and development of CRR.<h3 class="u-h4 u-margin-m-top u-margin-xs-bottom">Materials and Methods</h3>The available information on CRR was collected using published materials and electronic databases, including ancient and modern books, Chinese Pharmacopoeia, Ph.D. and M. Sc. dissertations, CNKI, SciFinder, WanFang data, PubMed, ScienceDirect and Web of Science. The starting and ending years of references is 1965-2020, the search strategy was conducted by key words such as uses, chemical components, pharmacology and toxicology of CRR.<h3 class="u-h4 u-margin-m-top u-margin-xs-bottom">Results</h3>Up to now, CRR has been used to treat various diseases/disorders, such as relieving rheumatism pain, treating cervical spondylopathy and scapulohumeral periarthritis, treating hepatic carcinoma and gastrointestinal, etc. In addition, more than 200 compounds have been isolated from the three plant species of Clematidis. Moreover, the crude extracts and isolated compounds of CRR have been reported to have a wide range of pharmacological activities, such as anti-inflammatory, anti-tumor, antimicrobial and antioxidant activities, etc. Toxicity studies have shown that CRR can cause oral burning, swelling, abdominal pain or severe diarrhea, difficulty breathing, dilated pupils, renal tissue structural changes, and severe death.<h3 class="u-h4 u-margin-m-top u-margin-xs-bottom">Conclusions</h3>Researches in recent years mainly focused on C. chinensis and C. mandshurica, while there are a few reports on the pharmacological studies of C. hexapetala. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct further research on C. hexapetala. Meanwhile, it is important to pay attention to pursue research on the similarities and differences between the three plant species of Clematidis to find their respective advantages and make rational use of CRR. In addition, there is no report on the mechanism of toxicity research, which needs more attention.

Abstract:Plant based phytoconstituents of great importance in the development of drugs and treatment of several health diseases.In this study, the phytochemical constituents of ethanol extract of Celosia leptostachya leaves, invitro antioxidant and alpha amylase inhibitory properties were investigated. Gas chromatography-mass spectrum analysis was used to identify varying percentage composition of phytochemical constituents in the extract. In vitro models were used to evaluate the ability of varying concentrations of the ethanol extracts to exhibit antioxidant activity by free radical scavenging using nitric oxide (NO) and 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radicals. Major constituents are cis-3-Butyl-4-vinyl-cyclo pentene n-Hexadecanoic acid, 9,12-Octadecadienoic acid (Z,Z) , Bicyclo[2.2.1]heptane, 7,7-dimethyl-2-methylene, octadecanoic acid (7.47%), arachidonic acid and 9-octadecenoic acid (E) (5.40%). Many of the constituents are also representative compounds belonging to fatty acid esters and volatile oils. Invitro antioxidant studies using DPPH and NO radical scavenging activity indicated that the extract exhibited > 50% inhibition at concentrations of 500 μg/ml and 600 μg/ml. IC50 values obtained for the extracts indicated strong antioxidant activity. Alpha amylase inhibition showed that increase in concentration of the extract exhibited a corresponding increase in percentage inhibition of the enzyme similar to acarbose used as standard. The kinetic studies under inhibitory conditions showed a decrease in Km and Vmax from slope and noncompetitive. Thus, it can be deduced that ethanol extract of Celosia leptostachya leaves contained essential phytochemical components that can be explored for broad spectrum bioactivity, pharmacological and nutritional applications. The inhibition mechanism is noncompetitive and can be utilized as strategy in control and treatment of hyperglycemia.

Abstract:Ethnopharmacological relevance Belamcanda chinensis (L.) Redouté is widely distributed in East Asia, such as China, Russia and North Korea. Belamcandae Rhizoma is the sun-dried rhizome of B . chinensis and has a long history of traditional medicinal use. It was first recorded in the Shennong's Herbal Classic , and has the effects of clearing heat and detoxifying, eliminating phlegm and benefiting the pharynx. Aim of the study To systematically study the source of Belamcandae Rhizoma, summarize the evolution of its medicinal properties, efficacy and the application history of its prescriptions, summarize its biological activity, phytochemistry, synthetic metabolic pathway and toxicology, and screen the Quality-Markers of Belamcandae Rhizoma according to the screening principle of traditional Chinese medicine Quality-Markers. Materials and Methods All information available on Belamcandae Rhizoma was collected using electronic search engines, such as Pubmed, Web of Science, CNKI, WFO ( www.worldfloraonline.org ), MPNS ( https://mpsn.kew.org ), Changchun University of Traditional Chinese Medicine Library collections, Chinese Medical Classics. Results The source of Belamcandae Rhizoma is B. chinensis of Iridaceae. It has a long history of application in China. It has the effects of clearing heat and detoxifying, eliminating phlegm and promoting pharynx. Modern pharmacological studies have shown that it has anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidation, anti-tumor and other physiological activities, and is safe and non-toxic at normal application doses. At present, tectoridin, iridin, tectorigenin, irigenin and irisflorentin are identified as the Quality-Markers of Belamcandae Rhizoma. Conclusions As a traditional Chinese medicine, Belamcandae Rhizoma has a long history of application, and multifaceted studies have demonstrated that Belamcandae Rhizoma is a promising Chinese medicine with good application prospects. By reviewing and identifying the Quality-Markers of Belamcandae Rhizoma, this study can help to establish the evaluation procedure of it on the one hand, and identify the shortcomings research on the other hand. Currently, there are few studies on the anabolism and toxicology of it, and future studies may focus on its in vivo processes, toxicology and adverse effects.

Abstract:In this paper, the confusion of the sources of medicinal materials was briefly expounded, and the differences among the varieties were pointed out. At the same time, the chemical components and pharmacological properties of Elsholtzia ciliata (Thunb.) Hyland (E.ciliata) were reviewed. The structures of 352 compounds that have been identified are listed. These mainly include flavonoids, terpenoids, phenylpropanoids, alkaloids, and other chemical components. They have antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, insecticidal, antiviral, hypolipidemic, hypoglycemic, analgesic, antiarrhythmic, antitumor, antiacetylcholinesterase, and immunoregulator activities. At present, there are many researches using essential oil and alcohol extract, and the researches on antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial, and other pharmacological activities are relatively mature. This paper aims to summarize the existing research, update the research progress regarding the phytochemicals and pharmacology of E. ciliate, and to provide convenience for subsequent research.

Abstract:Natural products, owing to their chemical diversity, biological activity, and historical success, continue to be a precious source of lead compounds and potential candidates for drug discovery. Siegesbeckia , in particular, presents a promising avenue for drug discovery due to its long history of usage in traditional Chinese medicine and its well-established clinical applications. Diterpenoids and sesquiterpenoids, the characteristic metabolites of Siegesbeckia , have consistently attracted considerable attention in related scientific research because of their diverse structures and extensive range of bioactivities, including anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer properties. Herein, we provide an overview of the phytochemistry, biosynthesis, pharmacological action, as well as clinical applications of Siegesbeckia . Abstract:Crataegus , is a genus within the Rosaceae family. It is recognized as a valuable plant with both medicinal and edible qualities, earning it the epithet of the "nutritious fruit" owing to its abundant bioactive compounds. Polysaccharides are carbohydrate polymers linked by glycosidic bonds, one of the crucial bioactive ingredients of Crataegus spp. Recently, Crataegus spp. polysaccharides (CPs) have garnered considerable attention due to their diverse range of bioactivities, including prebiotic, hypolipidemic, anticancer, antibacterial, antioxidant, and immunobiological properties. Herein, we provide a comprehensive overview of recent research on CPs. The analysis revealed that CPs exhibited a broad molecular weight distribution, ranging from 5.70 Da to 4.76 × 10 8 Da, and are composed of various monosaccharide constituents such as mannose, rhamnose, and arabinose. Structure-activity relationships demonstrated that the biological function of CPs is closely associated with their molecular weight, galacturonic acid content, and chemical modifications. Additionally, CPs have excellent bioavailability, biocompatibility, and biodegradability, which make them promising candidates for applications in the food, medicine, and cosmetic industries. The article also scrutinized the potential development and future research directions of CPs. Overall, this article provides comprehensive knowledge and underpinnings of CPs for future research and development as therapeutic agents and multifunctional food additives.

Abstract:BackgroundCoptidis rhizoma (CR) is the dried rhizome of Coptis chinensis Franch., C. deltoidea C. Y. Cheng et Hsiao or C. teeta Wall. (Ranunculaceae) and is commonly used in Traditional Chinese Medicine for the treatment of various diseases including bacillary dysentery, typhoid, tuberculosis, epidemic cerebrospinal meningitis, empyrosis, pertussis, and other illnesses.MethodsA literature survey was conducted via SciFinder, ScieneDirect, PubMed, Springer, and Wiley databases. A total of 139 selected references were classified on the basis of their research scopes, including chemical investigation, quality evaluation and pharmacological studies.ResultsMany types of secondary metabolites including alkaloids, lignans, phenylpropanoids, flavonoids, phenolic compounds, saccharides, and steroids have been isolated from CR. Among them, protoberberine-type alkaloids, such as berberine, palmatine, coptisine, epiberberine, jatrorrhizine, columamine, are the main components of CR. Quantitative determination of these alkaloids is a very important aspect in the quality evaluation of CR. In recent years, with the advances in isolation and detection technologies, many new instruments and methods have been developed for the quantitative and qualitative analysis of the main alkaloids from CR. The quality control of CR has provided safety for pharmacological applications. These quality evaluation methods are also frequently employed to screen the active components from CR. Various investigations have shown that CR and its main alkaloids exhibited many powerful pharmacological effects including anti-inflammatory, anti-cancer, anti-diabetic, neuroprotective, cardioprotective, hypoglycemic, anti-Alzheimer and hepatoprotective activities.ConclusionThis review summarizes the recent phytochemical investigations, quality evaluation methods, the biological studies focusing on CR as well as its main alkaloids.

Abstract:Tripterygium wilfordii (TRWI), known as 'Thunder of God Vine' or 'Lei Gong Teng' in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), is a perennial vine that has been used for centuries for its potent therapeutic properties. This plant, which belongs to the Celastraceae family, has been documented in various TCM texts, where it has been attributed with a wide range of benefits, including anti-inflammatory, antirheumatic, and anti-autoimmune activities. Central to the medicinal potential of TRWI is celastrol, a triterpenoid with extensive pharmacological activities. Research on celastrol has revealed its effects on combating inflammation, oxidative stress, cancer proliferation, and neurological disorders. However, celastrol’s high toxicity, low water solubility, and limited stability pose challenges for its clinical application. In this review, we explore the chemical structure of celastrol, emphasizing its key pharmacological activities and the structure-activity relationships (SARs) that influence its efficacy and toxicity. Various studies have demonstrated that modifications at specific sites, such as the C-29 carboxylic group, C-6, and C-3, can enhance celastrol’s therapeutic potential while reducing adverse effects. Moreover, recent advances in drug delivery systems offer promising avenues to overcome the inherent limitations of celastrol. These include direct modifications such as PEGylation and indirect modifications through encapsulation in dendritic polymers, phytosomes, liposomes, and exosomes. Each method seeks to improve celastrol bioavailability, water solubility, and target capabilities, thus enhancing its clinical viability. The objective of this review is to synthesize current knowledge about celastrol’s therapeutic potential and discuss the future of its development in drug delivery and pharmaceutical applications. These findings could open the door to new treatment methods that combine traditional remedies with modern pharmacology, helping us unlock the complete potential of celastrol in clinical use.

Abstract:Cistanches Herba, the dried succulent stems of Cistanche species that are mainly distributed in the arid lands and warm deserts, has been widely used as a tonic for the treatments of kidney deficiency, impotence, female sterility, and constipation in traditional Chinese medical practices for centuries. Cistanche species are parasitic plants and their hosts are sand-fixing plants, such as Haloxylon ammodendron and Tamarix spp. In recent years, increasing attention has been paid to the Cistanche plants, since the wide cultivation of Cistanche plants and their hosts can not only supply the medicinal materials but also contribute greatly to the desert control. After decades of studies, diverse chemical classes, such as phenylethanoid glycosides, iridoids, lignans, and polysaccharides, have been disclosed to be the primary chemical constituents in Cistanche species, and antioxidation, neuroprotection, antiaging, vasorelaxation, hepatoprotection, and so on, act as their primary activities. Here, we made a review on the latest research progress regarding the chemical constituents and bioactivities of Cistanche plants.
Coptidis Rhizoma: a comprehensive review of its traditional uses, botany, phytochemistry, pharmacology and toxicology

Abstract:AbstractContext: Coptidis rhizome (CR), also known as Huanglian in Chinese, is the rhizome of Coptis chinensis Franch., C. deltoidea C.Y. Cheng et Hsiao, or C. teeta Wall (Ranunculaceae). It has been widely used to treat bacillary dysentery, diabetes, pertussis, sore throat, aphtha, and eczema in China.Objectives: The present paper reviews the latest advances of CR, focusing on the botany, phytochemistry, traditional usages, pharmacokinetics, pharmacology and toxicology of CR and its future perspectives.Methods: Studies from 1985 to 2018 were reviewed from books; PhD. and MSc. dissertations; the state and local drug standards; PubMed; CNKI; Scopus; the Web of Science; and Google Scholar using the keywords Coptis, Coptidis Rhizoma, Huanglian, and goldthread.Results: Currently, 128 chemical constituents have been isolated and identified from CR. Alkaloids are the characteristic components, together with organic acids, coumarins, phenylpropanoids and quinones. The extracts/compounds isolated from CR cover a wide pharmacological spectrum, including antibacterial, antivirus, antifungal, antidiabetic, anticancer and cardioprotective effects. Berberine is the most important active constituent and the primary toxic component of CR.Conclusions: As an important herbal medicine in Chinese medicine, CR has the potential to treat various diseases. However, further research should be undertaken to investigate the clinical effects, toxic constituents, target organs and pharmacokinetics, and to establish criteria for quality control, for CR and its related medications. In addition, the active constituents, other than alkaloids, in both raw and processed products of CR should be investigated.

Abstract:Celastrol, a quinone‐methide triterpenoid, was extracted from Tripterygium wilfordii Hook. F. in 1936 for the first time. Almost 70 years later, it is considered one of the molecules most likely to be developed into modern drugs, as it exhibits notable bioactivity, including anticancer and anti‐inflammatory activity, and exerts antiobesity effects. In addition, the molecular mechanisms underlying its bioactivity are being widely studied, which offers new avenues for its development as a pharmaceutical reagent. Owing to its potential therapeutic effects and unique chemical structure, celastrol has attracted considerable interest in the fields of organic, biosynthesis, and medicinal chemistry. As several steps in the biosynthesis of celastrol have been revealed, the mechanisms of key enzymes catalyzing the formation and postmodifications of the celastrol scaffold have been gradually elucidated, which lays a good foundation for the future heterogeneous biosynthesis of celastrol. Chemical synthesis is also an effective approach to obtain celastrol. The total synthesis of celastrol was realized for the first time in 2015, which established a new strategy to obtain celastroid natural products. However, owing to the toxic effects and suboptimal pharmacological properties of celastrol, its clinical applications remain limited. To search for drug‐like derivatives, several structurally modified compounds were synthesized and tested. This review focuses primarily on the latest research progress in the biosynthesis, total synthesis, structural modifications, bioactivity, and mechanism of action of celastrol. We anticipate that this paper will facilitate a more comprehensive understanding of this promising compound and provide constructive references for future research in this field.

The impact of anthropomorphic indices on clinical outcomes in patients with acute ST-elevation myocardial infarction.

Abstract:AIMS Multiple studies have focused on the relationship of body anthropometric measures with clinical events in ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) patients, highlighting the 'obesity paradox'. However, the relative prognostic importance of these measures over other baseline variables is less known. METHOD AND RESULTS We performed a retrospective analysis of 94,108 STEMI patients from seven clinical trials evaluating various reperfusion strategies to study the relationship and prognostic importance of height, weight, body mass index (BMI), and body surface area (BSA) with 30-day death and in-hospital cardiogenic shock, major bleeding, and stroke. Main outcome measures of interest included 30-day death and in-hospital cardiogenic shock, major bleeding, and stroke. Weight, BMI, and BSA were inversely and independently related to all clinical events. Despite being statistically significant (P<0.0001), the prognostic information contributed by weight beyond that conferred by baseline clinical factors was minimal (<1% of total prognostic information) making it of limited clinical relevance for predicting 30-day death and cardiogenic shock. In contrast, weight accounted for 8.4% and 4.3% of the prognostic information in the logistic regression models for major bleeding and for stroke. BMI or BSA added little incremental value over simple measure of weight. CONCLUSION Although statistically significantly related to most outcomes in patients with STEMI including death and shock, body weight provided clinically relevant prognostic information only for the risk of major bleeding and of stroke. Furthermore, BMI or BSA contributed little incremental prognostic information beyond that provided by weight alone. Thus, the existing large body of information concerning the strong prognostic importance of anthropometric measures with outcomes after STEMI should be interpreted in the context of other more important risk factors.

Abstract:Ilex is a botanical source for various health-promoting and pharmaceutically active compounds that have been used in traditional Chinese medicine and food for thousands of years. Increasing interest in Ilex pharmaceutical and food resources has led to additional discoveries of terpenoids, saponins, polyphenols (especially flavonoids), glycosides, and many other compounds in various Ilex species, and to investigation of their chemotaxonomy, molecular phylogeny and pharmacology. In continuation of our studies on Ilex pharmacology and phylogeny, we review the phytochemistry, chemotaxonomy, molecular biology and phylogeny of Ilex species and their relevance to health-promotion and therapeutic efficacy. The similarity and dissimilarity between Ilex paraguariensis, the source plant of mate tea, and the source plants of large-leaved Kudingcha (e.g., Ilex kudingcha and Ilex latifolia) are discussed. It is essential to utilize emerging technologies in non-Camellia tea studies to promote the sustainable utilization of Ilex resources and the identification and development of novel compounds with potential health and clinical utility. Systems biology and “-omics” technologies will play an increasingly important role in pharmaceutical and food research on the bioactive compounds of Ilex species.

Abstract:Cytisine is a naturally occurring bioactive compound, an alkaloid mainly isolated from legume plants. In recent years, various biological activities of cytisine have been explored, showing certain effects in smoking cessation, reducing drinking behavior, anti-tumor, cardiovascular protection, blood sugar regulation, neuroprotection, osteoporosis prevention and treatment, etc. At the same time, cytisine has the advantages of high efficiency, safety, and low cost, has broad development prospects, and is a drug of great application value. However, a summary of cytisine's biological activities is currently lacking. Therefore, this paper summarizes the pharmacological action, mechanism, and pharmacokinetics of cytisine by referring to numerous databases, and analyzes the new and core targets of cytisine with the help of computer simulation technology, to provide reference for doctors.

Abstract:ETHNOPHARMACOLOGICAL RELEVANCE: Gastrodia elata Blume (G. elata) has a long historical application in Asian countries and its tubers, seeds, and stalks are capable of being utilized for medicine, food, or health care products.AIM OF THE REVIEW: This study aimed to offer a systematic and up-to-date analysis of the current review of the G. elata research advances in traditional uses, phytochemistry, pharmacology, applications, and quality control, as well as a scientific reference for the development and utilization of this plant.MATERIALS AND METHODS: Electronic databases including PubMed, Web of Science, Google Scholar, ScienceDirect, SciFinder, and CNKI were used for the collection of publications on G. elata. The following keywords of G. elata were used truncated with other relevant topic terms, such as phenolic compounds, polysaccharides, glycosides, neuroprotection, learning and memory improvement effects, cardioprotection, applications, and quality control.RESULTS AND CONCLUSIONS: Approximately 134 chemical components mainly categorizing as phenolic compounds, polysaccharides, glycosides, organic acids, and sterols were reported from this plant. Moreover, preclinical studies indicated that G. elata performs several functions, including neuroprotection, learning and memory improvement effects, cardioprotection, vaso-modulatory effect, anti-depression, anti-cancer, and other effects. Currently, G. elata has been widely applied to clinics and foods. The available literature shows that the quality of G. elata might be affected by factors such as origin, fungus, and harvest time, which will have an impact on the drug efficacy. According to past research, G. elata is a potential medicinal and edible plant with several active components and pharmacological activity that has a high application value in medicine and the food business. Nevertheless, few studies have concentrated on characterization of polysaccharides structure and study of non-medicinal parts, implying that further comprehensive research on its polysaccharides structure and non-medicinal parts is critical for full utilization of resources of G. elata.

Abstract:Background: C. deserticola, a highly esteemed medicinal herb in China, commonly referred to as "desert ginseng", has been renowned for its unique pharmacological properties in clinical use for countless centuries. Despite its long-standing reputation, our current comprehension of its active components and pharmacological effects remains shallow and incomplete. Moreover, the unclear mechanism underlying its pharmacological actions hinders the advancement and utilization of novel drug formulations derived from C. deserticola. Furthermore, as a unique parasitic plant, the current research on its parasitic mechanisms is limited, hampering efforts to enhance both its medicinal composition and overall yields. Purpose: The objective of this review is to meticulously assess, condense, and evaluate the salient aspects pertaining to the chemical composition, pharmacological impacts, and parasitic mechanisms of C. deserticola. Furthermore, the aim is to furnish valuable references that can inform and guide future research endeavors and developmental activities related to C. deserticola. Methods: This review adheres to the rigorous standards outlined in the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. A thorough examination and analysis of pertinent research findings, published up to February 6, 2024, has been conducted. Databases such as PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, Cochrane, and Science Direct were exhaustively searched using targeted keywords and operators to delve into the chemical constituents, pharmacological effects, and parasitic mechanisms exhibited by C. deserticola. Results: The review comprehensively summarizes the advancements in research regarding the chemical composition, pharmacological impacts, and toxicological safety of C. deserticola. It delves into the parasitic mechanisms of C. deserticola from three distinct angles: seed germination, haustorium induction, and recognition of signal substances. Furthermore, the review pinpoints pertinent issues and offers insightful recommendations for future exploration and research pertaining to C. deserticola. Conclusion: In recent years, C. deserticola has garnered considerable attention due to its distinctive pharmacological properties. This comprehensive review aims to establish a scientific foundation for the development of potential novel drugs and the enhancement of both the quantity and quality of C. deserticola. It accomplishes this by meticulously analyzing and evaluating the latest research findings pertaining to its chemical composition, pharmacological impacts, and parasitic mechanisms.
