Abstract:Objective It is to observe the effects of Propofol and sevoflurane on the early post-operative cognitive function in off-pump coronary artery bypass graft surgery patients. Methods Sixty patients undergoing off-pump coronary artery bypass graft surgery were randomly assigned to group P and group S.Each group had 30 cases.During operation,Propofol or sevoflurane were administered to maintain BIS values between 40 to 55.The time of awaking, the mini-mental state examination(MMSE)was recorded to assess the cognitive function before operation, 1 h,3 h,6 h and 24 h after extubation. Results There was no difference in the time of eyes opening, extubation and conversation. In group P and S,MMSE scores were reduced at 1 h or 3 h,and raised to the basic level at 6 h after extubation. There was no significant difference in MMSE scores at 1 h,3 h,6 h,24 h after extubation. There were six patients in group P,eight patients in group S,whose MMSE scores were under twenty four at 1 h after extubation. Conclusion Anesthesia with both Propofol and sevoflurane is effective and safe for off pump coronary artery bypass graft, and it can shorten the waking time and pasting time of early post-operative cognitive function after operation.
