Abstract:in the present age of consumption and information, the existing ways of architectures and cities have had a considerable change, this article summarizes the characteristic of contemporary architectures and cities effected by new social environment as "rupture": which includes "rupture" of time and space, "rupture" between architectures and cities and "rupture" between skin and interior of building. taking the theory of Rem Koolhaas, such as "Hyper-Building" and "Generic City", and the theory of Toyo Ito, such as "Temporary Building" and "Flowing Skin" for example, it explores the new way in which architectures and cities exist in the context of "rupture".

Abstract:Reviving historical towns and urban districts requires conservation and reuse of traditional buildings crucially in preserving the external form while introducing contemporary contents into the interior spaces. Short of contemporary comfort and efficiency, the traditional interior unavoidably contradicts the preservation for according improvement of comfort as the crux. Setting out from construction rule and characteristics of the traditional Chinese architecture with reference to its European counterpart's "envelope" feature, we propose "internal envelope" as a new interior implanted into the traditional interior, a freestanding container of self-bearing framework of up-to-date techniques that accommodates all needs from office, residence to recreation. In ensuing practices, the "internal envelope" successively applied in a series of cases in the historical town of Cicheng, Ningbo, and each case designed in response to specific structure and scale of the courtyard and interior to ensure the desired comfort. As the representative one, Cihu Academy attested "internal envelope" thorough and successful realization from conception, scheme, construction to put into service, a full course that demonstrated its validity in its own right as well as significance to architecture the discipline in sound response to targeted problems.Graphical

Abstract:Le logement « Linong » (le logement dans la ruelle) est le type de logement qui a ete le plus construit a Shanghai des les annee 1840 jusque dans les annees 1950. La specificite provient du fait que plusieurs familles partagent une meme unite d'habitation, parfois meme, une famille loge dans une chambre de 10 a 15 m2. Les espaces de ce genre de logement sont tres exigus et les espaces publics sont devenus une partie inseparable de la vie quotidienne des habitants. Les cuisines sont communes, les cours et les « Nongtang » (ruelles) sont devenus l'endroit majeur de la vie communautaire. Les habitants des « Linong » vivent ensemble comme une grande famille. Le developpement de la ville d'aujourd'hui, avec l'augmentation de la densite de la population, oblige a remplacer les logements traditionnels par des immeubles de logements. Les familles quittent leur habitation pour trouver des logements modernes et confortables avec des espaces de vie prives. Toutes les activites des habitants se passent a l'interieure de chaque appartement. Les espaces publics sont oublies et l'esprit communautaire disparait. Le site du projet se situe au centre ville de Shanghai, il appartenait a la concession francaise. Actuellement, les logements traditionnels de ces quartiers sont graduellement remplaces par des logements modernes. L'objectif du projet est de concevoir un nouveau type de logement pour ces habitants qui puisse contenir a la fois les qualites sociales de l'ancien tout en offrant le confort de la vie contemporaine. - La circulation Le quartier entier est divise par la zone commerciale, situee dans les premiers etages, et le logement, situe dans les etages superieurs. Ils ont chacun des entrees et des circulations separees. Le systeme de communication est compose de quatre differents type : rue principale, rue secondaire, nongtang principal, nongtang secondaire(vertical) - La hierarchie Les logements peuvent etre decomposes en 4 elements : deux blocks qui contiennent chacun 3 bâtiments. Chacun des 3 bâtiments contient 27 unites. Chacune des unites est composee de deux etages de 4 cellules et finalement chaque cellule loge 4 familles. L'element de base est une unite de deux etages. La tour est ainsi basee sur plusieurs approches metriques de la residence traditionnelle.

Abstract:Architecture itself is a witness to social and cultural development, so the study on it should not only focus on the material symbols but also pay more attention to the multiple roles played by its material space in a specific social–cultural construction from multiple perspectives, residential buildings are no exception. Based on the dialectical analysis of Levi Strauss's house society concept and Lefebvre's spatial ternary theory, this paper attempts to sort out the triple theory of the house space; taking Chinese well-preserved Guanzhong Narrow Courtyard in the Ming and Qing Dynasties (1368–1912) as an example, it starts from the three aspects of housing space which are material presentation, reconstruction and innovation, and potential circulating capital in the social production and reproduction to explore a qualitative research of the house space, and tries to reappear the metaphorical relationship between housing space of Chinese Guanzhong Narrow Courtyard and social–cultural construction in a historical period of social and cultural development, and explain its profound connotation; from the perspective of sociology, it provides inspiration and lays a foundation for the research on the design of the house space in the transition from the traditional society to the modern society in the specific area.
