Abstract:Interoperability among healthcare information systems is one of the most challenging problems in healthcare domain. In this paper, we propose a structure of Interoperable Medical Information System based on SOA (Service-Oriented Architecture) and Web 2.0 under the framework of Regional Health Information Network. Various components are described in detail, including authentication, data access, and services management and so on. Services for medical information getting are registered and published by the system; users then access the system to search and fetch demanded services and value-added applications. All of the heterogeneous and distributed data and applications are converted to independent services according to international standards. As a result of the use of SOA, the system is levels clearly demarcated with good universality and maintainability.

Abstract:With the development of medical health, regional health information sharing has become the inevitable trend of the development of medical information. However, due to the regional medical information construction, it hinders the exchange and sharing of clinical data for some disadvantages like low-level degree of system integration, low real-time of information exchange, poor reliability, etc. According to the existing problems of the regional health, this paper constructs a regional health information collaborative platform, utilizes information integration to form patient as core of clinical data, uses clinical document architecture (CDA) as data exchange standard, and implements the data exchange and sharing between medical institutions and the regional medical center.

Abstract:The development of hospital business demands the integration of information systems. After studying the relative technologies for system connection,system integration and different modes of connecting system, we put forward a protocol to integrate the existing laboratory information system( LIS) and hospital information system(HIS). It introduces the multi-tier distributed technical methods for improving the client/server applications; it ascertains the units and transactions participating in workflow integration by referencing the IHE( Integrating the Healthcare Enterprises) Laboratory Technology Framework; it implements information exchange by Health Level 7(HL7) standards; and it can conserve previous investment and avoid some problems of security, maintenance and realtime process without the risk of massively updating system.

Abstract:The idea behind hospital information systems is to make all of a patient's medical reports, lab results, and images electronically available to clinicians, instantaneously, wherever they are, But the higgledy-piggledy evolution of most hospital computer systems makes it hard to integrate all these clinical records. Although several integration standards had been proposed to meet this challenge, none of them is fit for hospitals in China. Abstract:Because of the complexity of the hospital environment, there exist a lot of medical information systems from different vendors with incompatible structures. In order to establish an enterprise hospital information system, the integration among these heterogeneous systems must be considered. Complete integration should cover three aspects: data integration, function integration and workflow integration. However most of the previous design of architecture did not accomplish such a complete integration. This article offers an architecture design of the enterprise hospital information system based on the concept of digital neural network system in hospital. It covers all three aspects of integration, and eventually achieves the target of one virtual data center with Enterprise Viewer for users of different roles. The initial implementation of the architecture in the 5-year Digital Hospital Project in Huzhou Central hospital of Zhejiang Province is also described

Abstract:With the development of HIS/RIS(Hospital/Radiology Information System), it is very important to study the HL7(Health Level Seven) Standard for electronic data exchange in healthcare environments. Firstly, in this paper, the history, development goal and conceptions of HL7 are introduced. Secondly, its applications and auto-realization technologies are presented. Then, the problems which exist in the standard and the difficulties of HL7 in China are analyzed. Finally, some helpful suggestions about the development of HL7 in China are proposed.

Abstract:The health information systems of most medical institutions in China are isolated. Communications across these systems are generally realized through point-to-point interfaces at the database level, which tend to lack interoperability, extensibility, and security. In the resent study, we developed localized, document-oriented and data-focused clinical document architecture (CDA) templates based on health level 7 (HL7) CDA. Then, by combining these templates with the Service-oriented architecture for HL7 middleware, we accomplished interoperability across multiple heterogeneous systems. Modules of our system have been put into trial use in six medical institutions, including the Second University Hospital (main campus and regional campuses) of the School of Medicine, Zhejiang University and other collaborating hospitals.

Abstract:Nowadays, most data in enterprise systems is still stored in relational databases, which brings the majority of difficulties to achieve information interoperation between enterprise-level heterogeneous systems. In this context, we propose a middleware to integrate information from heterogeneous enterprise system based on XML standard. The proposed integration architecture aims at providing a coherent and meaningful view of the integrated heterogeneous information systems by leverage the back-end relational data sources. The architecture of the middleware relies on the well-known mediator/wrapper architecture and satisfies the semantic integration features by several main functions including data descriptions, schema transformations and integrations based on the XML-Schema standard.

Abstract:The advent of Internet technology introduces a revolution to software application and development paradigms. Traditional software development and application patterns have been shifted to Internet-based service sharing and collaboration among partners all over the Internet. This imposes new challenges and complexity in the lifecycle of software development, deployment and maintenance. Middleware, an intermediate layer to abstract the homogeneity and hide the difference of underlying systems, can be used to reduce the complexity for Internet application development. In this paper, we exploit the needs of middleware support for Internet-based applications from a service perspective. We investigate the potential requirements and features of Internetware, and the state-of-the-art solutions. We also analyze the remaining issues, the challenges and potential future research directions.

Abstract:Healthcare organizations today are still struggling with the integration challenges of heterogeneous information systems. Those system interfaces are not always compatible out of box, when the number of involved systems increases, complexity increases in an unmanageable way. Decentralized proprietary format data largely restricts the value of healthcare information. In this article, we present a healthcare information system integration approach based on an integration engine to address the integration problems. All the involved systems are connected to the integration engine through different interface adaptors. The integration engine takes the inbound message as the trigger event, generates outbound messages by workflow driver according to the workflow configuration file. The integration engine is also responsible for understanding the message context and converting the healthcare information into a unified format, and then storing it in the clinical data repository. Thus, it can facilitate the utilization and sharing of healthcare information.

Abstract:In order to exploit the information resources effectively and realize the data sharing,this paper proposed up a solution proposal of heterogeneous database integration middleware system based on XML.In this paper elaborated emphatically the middleware design concept and function and implementation process of each module.Through the realization of transformation and integration from relational data into XML data,this middleware shields all differences in aspects of data source including the platform,system environment and internal data structure,and so on.It provides a unified and transparent interface for users to implement the accession.

Abstract:The integrating method and working procedure of a digital hospital information system were discussed in this paper. It adopts a unique modularized structure that allows interplatform data exchange among different hospital information systems (HIS, RIS and PACS) through the seamless integration of the above-mentioned three systems according to the international standards (DICOM, HL7 and TC251). The realization of communication interface standardization, function modularisation, common sharing of medical information resources and adaptation to local circumstances enables the system function, management function, information processing and communication function to be achieved on a complete platform, which provides such advantages as common sharing, openness, security, extensibility and simple operation, and offers completeness to present hospital management and future medical environment. Currently, it is being successfully applied at many hospitals in China such as the 5th People Hospital of Zhengzhou City to realize the digitized, network-dependent and film-independent modern hospital management.

Abstract:Objective To design the integration interface between HIS and RIS/PACS based on HL7. Methods The interface was designed by analyzing the HL7 message format and considering the current integrated data exchange process of HIS and RIS/PACS. Results The HL7 integration between HIS and RIS/PACS was achieved. Conclusion By using HL7 to integrate HIS and RIS/PACS, working efficiency in hospitals has been improved with the coupling of systems reduced and the extensibility and maintainability greatly enhanced.

Abstract:Service-oriented distributed systems are internally loosely coupled in that the computation nodes are portable and reusable. They can be developed and maintained economically. Traditional middleware products enable the consistent operation on distributed objects and real-time communication. The middleware in a service-oriented distributed system provides more capabilities, such as analyzing data semantics, formulating data protocols, and defining event interfaces. This paper focuses on the design and implementation of a middleware for service-oriented distributed systems. The relationship between the distributed object and the object proxy is briefly introduced. The functional requirements on the middleware for service-oriented distributed systems are analyzed. The operational, system, and technical architecture design of the middleware is outlined. The programming technique for implementing the middleware is presented by focusing on the XML-based textualization of distributed object proxies. The application of the middleware is demonstrated by building a distributed simulation system.
