Abstract:As the gap between urban and rural areas grows,metropolitan area is the key point in the urban and rural integration.Taking Shijiazhuang in Hebei Province as an example,the charateristics of the process of integration of urban and rural areas are analysed.The data shows that the metropolitan of Shijianzhuang has changed its industrial structure,such as industry replaced by services in the central city.Owing to the similar industrial structure and level of development in the surrouding area of the central city,it hinders the competitive power of Shijiazhuang.Thus,the urban and rural spatial development strategy of Shijiazhuang metropolitan area is proposed.It concludes strengthening centers,expanding periphery,rural-urban linkage and optimizing system.The mechanism about how to realize the integrated urban and rural areas from land management to public services is discussed.
