A New Electromagnetic Structure of Relay with Composite Armature Containing Permanent Magnet

Abstract:Pull-in voltage and release voltage are important parameters to ensure the reliable operation of the relay, then the aerospace field has further put forward higher requirements which are to reduce the pull-in voltage and increase the release voltage of the relay. This paper proposes an electromagnetic structure with composite armature containing permanent magnet, which is beneficial to improve the electromagnetic efficiency of the magnetic system. From the perspective of magnetic flux, the equivalent magnetic circuit of the original electromagnetic structure relay with permanent magnet armature and the new electromagnetic structure relay with composite armature containing permanent magnet are analyzed, and the mechanism of the new electromagnetic structure improving electromagnetic efficiency is obtained. Based on the finite element simulation software, the difference of the static characteristic parameters between the original electromagnetic structure and the new electromagnetic structure are analyzed. On this foundation, compared with the original permanent magnet armature electromagnetic structure, after the introduction of the new electromagnetic structure with composite armature containing permanent magnet, the pull-in voltage of the relay is reduced by 19%, the release voltage is increased by 22%, the pull-in holding force at rated voltage is increased by 219%, and the release holding force at 0 V is increased by 135%. Finally, the prototype test results show that the proposed electromagnetic structure with composite armature containing permanent magnet can effectively improve the electromagnetic efficiency, sensitivity and reliability of the relay.
