Abstract:In this paper, we conduct research on MOOC and multimedia technology with applications on the contemporary literature teaching in the colleges and universities. Modern and contemporary literature teaching should be recognized is aging, rigid, not adapt to the problems of the times, including floating style of general study, should be noticed and effectively solved. Now all kinds of conferences and activities a lot, all kinds of the quantitative indicators are "forced" people use more energy to fight for topic, research, teaching duty work could instead focus on less. Different school teachers on the same subject if able to communicate more, complement each other, each other will be beneficial to promote the reform of this course. This paper proposes the novel paradigm for the basic education patter for MOOC and multimedia based literature classes that are innovative.

Abstract:At any time,reading is of great significance for the cultural heritage of human beings.The national reading has changed dramatically in China as digital age comes.The paper does not only summarize the results of previous research about the influence that the digital age has exerted on national reading and about concerned proposals,but also points out its limitations and shortcomings.The study shows that domestic scholars mainly investigated the status quo and change of reading.Then much attention has been paid to the following subjects including the medium and content of reading materials,people's reading be-havior and time they spent in reading.Besides,researchers also try to put forward some proposals on this topic.In the author's view,although some academic achievements have been made so far,their research results were mainly in the form of thesis rather than monograph,and most papers adopted qualitative research methods,lack of large-scale,systematic and scientific empirical research.Therefore,further study is needed on this issue.

Abstract:Abstract This article analyzes the impact of the Internet on college students’ reading habits and preferences, emphasizing that short reading, micro-reading, and miscellaneous reading have become trends. The article discusses the intelligent transformation of libraries, proposes strategies such as enhancing resource publicity, strengthening academic resource construction and providing personalized services, and analyzes the effect of brilliant reading promotion assessed by WeChat Communication Index (WCI). The results show that reading speed in the virtual reality environment is significantly faster than in the traditional environment, but deep comprehension takes longer. The time spent by mobile college students on entertaining videos, WeChat public numbers, etc. reached a ratio of 0.6740 and 0.5637. PC students spent more time on professional academic journals, academic MOOC videos, etc. The results of the WCI index for March-September 2022 showed that the WCI before the beginning of the school year was 176.23, and the highest in the middle of the semester reached 387.63, which proved the effectiveness of the intelligent transformation of the Library. The article demonstrates college students’ new trend of reading behavior in the Internet era and the effectiveness of Library coping strategies.

Abstract:Background: Affected by the COVID-19, many colleges have adopted online teaching. Meanwhile, the digital transformation of academic journals has shifted readers' reading habits from traditional paper media to digital media. Digital academic reading has become the main reading method of college students during the COVID-19 pandemic. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the behavioral characteristics of college students' digital academic reading and explore the internal factors and external environmental factors affecting the Intention and Use behavior of digital academic reading. At the same time this study provide recommendations to address these influencing factors in terms of the individual, the environment and library resources. Methods: Based on UTAUT2 model and digital academic reading theories, this paper constructs a digital academic reading information behavior (DARB) model of college students to examine college students' digital academic reading behavior and intention. College students with digital academic reading behavior were recruited as research participants. A multi-stage sampling technique was used to collect representative samples from universities in Nanjing. 239 respondents participated in the questionnaire, with 189 providing valid data. Results: Effort expectancy (EE), social influence (SI), price value (PV), perceived risk (PR) and habit (BH) have a significant impact on behavioral intention (BI), and behavioral intention (BI) and habit (BH) have a significant impact on use behavior (B). However, performance expectancy (PE) and facilitating conditions (FC) have no significant influence on behavioral intention (BI). Originality/value: The findings of this study will help fill the gap in previous research on the relationship between the influencing factors of digital academic reading and college students' reading intentions and behaviors, so as to provide a basis for improving the academic reading literacy program in colleges and optimizing the current digital academic reading environment.

Abstract:The emergence of e-books with the characteristics of easy access and reading any time anywhere is a subject of debate in academia. Topics include the use of e-books in libraries, their use in support teaching, new possibilities for reading activities, potential uses for library archives, and the motivation and intention of e-book users. Students at Guilin University of Technology participated in a survey. Of the 300 copies of the questionnaire distributed, 263 valid copies were returned, a retrieval rate of 88%. The research results show that (1) Usability and reading need are the key factors in e-book usage. Usability refers to convenient keyword searches, portability, and any time reading. E-books are considered to make searching and reading large amounts of data easier. (2) E-books are not restricted to time and space so that the overall reading quantity is increasing. Readers become accustomed to reading e-books, and the quality of their digital reading is gradually enhanced. (3) Students should complete e-book use courses offered by libraries to enhance their familiarity with e-books and their use of e-book software, thereby enhancing postgraduate student readers' e-book information literacy. The results of the research prompt suggestions to enhance the promotion of reading and e-book information to encourage student readers' e-book reading intention.

Abstract:With the popularity of Internet technology, reading has developed in the direction of digitalization and mobileization. And entering the metaverse era, both the subject and object of reading may be redefined, presenting a new developmental pattern. This process brings a crisis to reading, such as the fragmentation of reading, the obstruction of reading needs, and the replacement of classical reading. However, reading is still an important way for college students to acquire new knowledge, broaden their horizons and improve their skills. The existence of reading crises inevitably affects the academic achievement of college students. Therefore, from the perspective of university management, this paper conducts regression analysis on 1,155 effective samples of colleges and universities in Anhui Province, extracts the factors that affect college students’ reading engagement, and further explores the relationship between college students’ reading engagement and academic achievement. The study concluded that: (1) in terms of family reading culture, students who grow up in families with good family reading culture perform better in reading engagement. The amount of family books, family reading education and family reading atmosphere all have significant positive effects on reading time and reflective reading strategies of college students. (2) In the cultivation of reading habits in colleges and universities, the course-driven mechanism and the atmosphere stimulating mechanism have a significant positive effect on students’ reading time. The course-driven mechanism, resource supporting mechanism and atmosphere stimulating mechanism have a significant positive effect on the critical reading strategy of college students. (3) In terms of reading time, it is only found that the reading time spent on paper books has a significant positive effect on college students’ academic achievement and professional quality. (4) In terms of reading strategies, the replicative reading strategy only has a significant positive effect on the improvement of college students’ academic achievement and professional quality. The critical reading strategy has a significant positive effect on the professional quality, general ability and career planning ability of college students.

Abstract:Reading is a fundamental activity to academic performance at all levels. People’s ability to read efficiently in academic contexts is affected by many factors, including their environment and the technology that they use. In past decades the media that people use to read as well as their reading environments have changed substantially; e.g., people now can use smart phones to read academic material and they are often distracted by notifications. Better reading can potentially be supported through new technologies and the re-design of existing technologies which play a role in the process, but to embark on such design improvements we firstly need to understand the current practices, technologies, preferences, and environments that people use for reading. We present an exploratory study from a survey of 110 participants, offering an updated picture of their reading technology use, environments and strategies. Amongst our main contribution are the results of our analysis, which show that despite a generally negative attitude towards the ability of digital technologies to support focus, there is a pervasive use of technologies in many forms. We also identified that there is a relation between people’s awareness of internal interruptions and their understanding of the negative effect of digital technologies in their attention span. We believe that these results are informative for the design and introduction of new technologies that will support future academic reading endeavours.

Abstract:This paper offers a discussion of the knowledge, skills, and awareness involved in digital reading. Reading, in this paper, is used in the broader sense to include deriving meaning from media on a digital screen. This paper synthesises key ideas from existing studies and presents a taxonomy for the teaching of digital reading. The taxonomy includes the development of: 1) the knowledge of linear and deep reading strategies; 2) basic and critical information skills; and 3) a multimodal semiotic awareness. The goal of this paper is to unpack the specific knowledge and skills for digital reading which will support educators, including classroom teachers and librarians, on the aspects to pay attention to as students engage in digital reading. This paper argues that, in addition to equipping students with the knowledge of reading strategies and information skills, an awareness of how the various semiotic modes make meaning is fundamental to effective digital reading.

Abstract:Digital reading promotion service is a service way for libraries to provide readers with a series of digital resources, enjoy the service functions, and share the experience of using them in various digital reading platforms, which is to meet the reading interests and reading needs of more readers, and is also the focus of the current library work. In the era of new media, the characteristics of digital reading are subtly changing the readers’ needs for reading environment, reading content, and reading style. Libraries should keep pace with the development of the times and provide readers with diversified, intelligent, and targeted digital reading platforms. The digital reading platform should continuously improve the digital reading service functions, broaden the service scope and dissemination channels, and finally realize the diversification, interest, and intelligence of digital reading service. This paper takes the digital reading platform of libraries in the region as the research theme and carries out research work on libraries. The province is divided into three regions according to the geographical map: southeastern region, central region, and northwestern region. The digital reading platforms of 14 prefecture-level public libraries and 58 libraries of higher education institutions in each region were accessed. Firstly, we check the construction of digital resources within the library websites, secondly, we count the opening of digital reading platform functions, and finally, we check the opening of digital reading platforms. Through the research, it is found that there are problems of unbalanced distribution of digital reading resources in regional libraries; unattractive design of readers’ interface and inadequate reading service functions; lack of continuous training of readers’ guidance; insufficient publicity and promotion; low efficiency of staff in responding to consultation; and low degree of platform openness and weak awareness of sharing. Finally, the problems found in the research are summarized, and the solution measures for the regional digital reading platform are proposed. Libraries in the digital era should give priority to systems that can manage all library resources comprehensively and effectively, adapt to more flexible library workflows, and enable libraries to provide better services to users.

Abstract:This study creates a reading environment on the smart phone and utilizes WeChat public platform as a tool to push reading materials to 60 English majors for 3 months so as to explore its effect on improving English reading abilities by comparing the test results before and after the experiment. The results indicates that WeChat public platform can be effectively applied in teaching English majors' reading and help them improve their reading skills efficiently. By questionnaire, it is highly recommended that the pushed reading material should be designed and adapted in accordance with students' demand and their reading abilities. There is also a need to provide students with guidance on reading skills and methods.
