Abstract:The central limit theorem for the product of sums of various random variables has been studied in a variety of settings. The purpose of this note is to show that this kind of result is a corollary of the invariance principle.

Abstract:We consider a sequence of dependent Bernoulli variables where the success probability of the trial conditional on the past history is a linear function of the mean number of successes achieved to that point. An almost sure invariance principle is established for the partial sum and we also generalize the model to a multi-dimensional case, extending the results of Heyde (2004), James et al. (2008) and Wu et al. (2012).

Abstract:Abstract We give here an almost sure central limit theorem for self-normalized partial sums of a strictly stationary φ-mixing sequences which is in the domain of attraction of the normal law with mean zero and possibly infinite variance. Abstract:Let {Xn;n ≥ 1} be a sequence of independent random variables on a probability space (Ω,F,P) and $${S_n} = \sum\nolimits_{k = 1}^n {{X_k}} $$. It is well-known that the almost sure convergence, the convergence in probability and the convergence in distribution of Sn are equivalent. In this paper, we prove similar results for the independent random variables under the sub-linear expectations, and give a group of sufficient and necessary conditions for these convergence. For proving the results, the Levy and Kolmogorov maximal inequalities for independent random variables under the sub-linear expectation are established. As an application of the maximal inequalities, the sufficient and necessary conditions for the central limit theorem of independent and identically distributed random variables are also obtained.

Abstract:The theory of products of random matrices and Lyapunov exponents have been widely studied and applied in the fields of biology, dynamical systems, economics, engineering and statistical physics. We consider the product of an i.i.d. sequence of random non-invertible matrices with real entries. Given some mild moment assumptions we prove an explicit formula for the Lyapunov exponent and prove a central limit theorem with an explicit formula for the variance in terms of the entries of the matrices. We also give examples where exact values for the Lyapunov exponent and variance are computed. An important example where non-invertible matrices are essential is the random Hill's equation, which has numerous physical applications, including the astrophysical orbit problem.

Abstract:We consider a class of dependent random variables where the dependence structure involves a factor driven by Sn/n. Under very mild conditions for the innovation, we obtain several asymptotic results for the partial sums including basic asymptotics and strong limit theorems. The fact that the asymptotic properties differ strikingly in a neighbour of a critical point makes the model very interesting.

Abstract:The product of M complex random Gaussian matrices of size N has recently been studied by Akemann, Kieburg, and Wei. They showed that, for fixed M and N, the joint probability distribution for the squared singular values of the product matrix forms a determinantal point process with a correlation kernel determined by certain biorthogonal polynomials that can be explicitly constructed. We find that, in the case M = 2, the relevant biorthogonal polynomials are actually special cases of multiple orthogonal polynomials associated with Macdonald functions (modified Bessel functions of the second kind) which was first introduced by Van Assche and Yakubovich. With known results on asymptotic zero distribution of these polynomials and general theory on multiple orthogonal polynomial ensembles, it is then easy to obtain an explicit expression for the distribution of squared singular values for the product of two complex random Gaussian matrices in the limit of large matrix dimensions.
