Shizhong and the Three Developmental Climaxes of the Taiwan Classical Poetry Clubs

Abstract:During the Tongzhi period of the Qing's Dynasty,Shizhong was introduced to Taiwan where the poetry clubs were founded everywhere and the first developmental climax of the Taiwan classical poetry clubs thus came into being.During the middle period of Japanese occupation Shizhong rose again.Together with JiboYin they helped promote each other,forming the second developmental climax of the Taiwan classical poetry clubs.Then,around 1949,a large number of poets from mainland,especially the Shizhong's writers from Fujian,came to Taiwan one after another,providing a new opportunity for the development of the Taiwan classical poetry clubs.Through the examination of the three developmental climaxes we can see that Shizhong,as a literary style,proves to be unique and far-reaching in Taiwan literature.
