Abstract:Under the background of "double first-class" construction, the teaching staff, as the foundation of the construction of colleges and universities, determines the overall construction effect of colleges and universities.High-level teachers are the guarantee of talent cultivation, education and teaching, scientific research and competitiveness of colleges and universities.However, the improvement of teachers' quality is affected by many factors, which leads to teachers' choices that affect their overall performance when facing teaching and scientific research tasks.In view of this, this study attempts to determine the relationship between professional ability, incentive mechanism and career satisfaction in Chinese universities and colleges, and to propose ways to improve teacher quality.A total of 400 valid questionnaires were collected in this study, and SPSS 26.0 software was used for descriptive analysis, variance analysis and regression analysis.The results show that there is a positive correlation between professional ability, incentive mechanism and teacher satisfaction in Chinese universities.This means that the stronger the professional ability of teachers, the better the incentive mechanism, the higher the satisfaction of teachers, and the corresponding improvement of teacher quality.Through this research, universities may encourage and support the training and professional development of young teachers.This will help balance the age structure of the teaching force and provide more development opportunities for young teachers.As teachers themselves, they may continuously improve their level of professional ability, including teaching and academic ability, and formulate their own career plans in order to adapt to the constant changes in society.Regular teacher training programs should be established to help enhance their professional competence, while salaries and benefits should be improved to better motivate teachers.

Interpreting New Patterns of Teacher Education Organizations in Germany:An Analysis Based on the Visit to PSE at the Humboldt University and CTE at the Free University Berlin

Abstract:Since the 21st century, Germany, relatively conservative in the field of teacher education, has made some reforms in succession, and the establishment of new patterns of teacher education organizations is just among them. This paper firstly analyzes the background of the establishment, then takes the“grass-root”Professional School of Education ( PSE) at the Humboldt University and the“official” Centre of Teacher Edu-cation ( CTE) at the Free University Berlin as examples to address mainly the following three issues:function, organizational structuring and staffing as well as operational mechanism, and also compares the two different types of organizations based on the above three dimensions. Finally, it argues that the PSE and CTE, as repre-sentatives of new patterns of teacher education organizations in Germany, have been a good try in teacher edu-cation reform. However, the effectiveness and achievement of this reform remains unclear, and it takes time to give a proper answer.

Abstract:It is necessary to study good teachers' teaching conceptions,strategies and behaviors while seeking good practices in undergraduate education.This study,through an empirical analysis,attempts to compare the group of welcomed teachers with that of not welcomed at Fudan University,in terms of their teaching knowledge, beliefs and strategies as well as routine engagements to class teaching.It is found that welcomed teachers tend to attach more importance to teaching and maintain good communication with peers and students.They have more personality charm,and are more skilled in introducing analyzing and evaluating approaches.However,the differences of teaching conception and strategies between the two groups are not as distinctive as many overseas researches have pointed out.The results reflect the insufficiency in developing scholarship of teaching in Chinese universities.

Abstract:As a profession based on higher scientific position and complexity of labor and professionalism than occupational characteristics,teachers' professional problems and their reason should be approached from the required height of its professional meta-theory,i.e.,from the concept of professional essential characteristics,so as to determine the normative professional connotation as in the teaching profession and human,logical consistency,relevance,rationality,perceptivity,professional degree,and social and historical as well as practical rationality and other essential characteristics.At the same time,based on seperation of reasonable boundaries between teachers' professionalism and non-professionalism,the author hopes to display a rational perspective on the issue of development of teachers' team and improvement of teachers' level in the issue of teacher education reform and development boom.

Abstract:With the aim to train the talents with applied and innovative abilities to meet the demands of the development of the contemporary society,the important mission of higher education teaching is to meet the urgent demands of talents in society and to make the utmost of the advantages of scientific research in universities,to lead the development of career in the future and provide the prelimenary training of entering society to students in accordance with the demands of the future society. This paper presents the conception of " the fourth classroom" which links universities and society and introduces the real and complicated social professions in higher education teaching. In this way,students are deeply immersed in the role of pre-profession and the guidance of teachers,they can realize their role adaptation from a college students to a professional person. " The fourth classroom" is a beneficial attempt and exploration to deepen the reform of higher education teaching and to train the talents with applied and innovative abilities.

Abstract:Previous research on conceptions of teaching comes from three distinct areas. The first is based on interviews with students and staff in higher education, the second involves the investigation of the conceptions and beliefs of schoolteachers, while the third derives from more general consideration of the nature of conceptions themselves. The empirical study reported here drew on these differing research areas to distinguish between beliefs and conceptions about good teaching and to explore their possible origins. The data came from student teachers, but the findings contribute to current thinking about conceptions of teaching in higher education. Bringing the empirical findings together with the three areas of previous research enables a more complete concept map to be drawn to summarise what may underlie the notion of “good teaching”.

Abstract:Currently, the discussion of public or private ethics, high or low standards, self-discipline or self-discipline, etc., has emerged in Chinese university teacher ethics, which marks a profound change in the connotation of teacher ethics in Chinese universities in the new era, with new features. Based on the vision of international teacher ethics, learning and understanding General Secretary Xi’s important discussions on teacher ethics, and sorting out China’s policies and systems for teacher ethics construction, this study argues that teacher ethics in Higher educational institutions is a combination of the “first-level index” of ethics, and three “second-level indexes” of “occupational ethics, personal ethics, and social ethics”, and it is a unity of ethical concepts and ethical behaviors. It is not a specific quality or ability, but an important guideline for regulating the mutual relations between teachers and other communities of interest, and is the ethical foundation of teachers’ quality.

Abstract:Teaching and research are two inseparable components in higher education. There are continuous debates about the relationship between the two. Does good teaching always lead to good research, and vice versa? This paper critically examines the impact of current policy on the two academic practices and discusses how it shapes one’s professional values and career development. It begins with a discussion of the education policy development and the global trends in higher education, the ontological and epistemological positions of knowledge and education and proceeds to the set of axiological beliefs that educators should embrace. The critical reflective review presented connotes with notions of self-interrogation towards the improvement of professional practice. Its relevance to other disciplines is illustrated though examples contextualised in the marketing discipline.

Abstract:It is important to establish a high-quality basic education faculty for improvement of basic education quality and primary and secondary schools shall create faculty with noble teacher's professional ethics, superb business, reasonable structure and sufficient energy. Teaching of good teachers shall not be limited to traditional teaching method, and restricted to knowledge teaching and only pursue high score in tests, but shall focus on core quality cultivation of students, develop intelligence and potential of students and cultivate students to modern Chinese with healthy body, creative ability, service spirit, cooperation attitude and world perspective. Perspectives: Policy and Practice in Higher Education

Abstract:Higher education is increasingly defined by data, indicators and metrics. The paper examines how English universities conceptualise and articulate their perspectives on 'teaching quality' in the context of the Teaching Excellence and Student Outcomes Framework (TEF) in the UK. By adopting a qualitative thematic analysis approach, the author examines how a sample of English higher education institutions [n = 18] articulated their perspectives on teaching quality by analysing the 'teaching quality' section of their qualitative TEF submissions. The findings have shown that higher education policies, such as TEF, have greatly shaped institutions' perspectives on teaching quality and teaching excellence. In turn, universities' articulation of teaching excellence appeared to have significant implications for their management and academic practices, such as institution priorities, resource allocations, performance evaluation and academic career development.

Abstract:Enhancing the higher order thinking (HOT) ability of students is a worldwide educational goal. This has also become a significant objective in the curriculum reforms in Hong Kong, which aims at better preparation of students to meet the challenges of the new era. Cultural aspects are often regarded as salient in determining approaches to teaching. The influence of Chinese traditions on teaching in Hong Kong has been discussed by many researchers, who found the thinking of Confucius still strongly influences the conception of teaching of Chinese teachers. By the in‐depth interviews with 12 Chinese teachers, their conceptions of effective HOT teaching were examined. Nine teaching tips were suggested by the teachers. The list of HOT teaching tips reflects that intermingled values of Western and traditional Chinese education are embraced. The findings also show how Chinese values influence teachers' conceptions of effective HOT teaching and the results are discussed with reference to the influence of Confucian thought. The comparatively narrow conceptions regarding HOT teaching imply that certain cultural barriers are still hampering Hong Kong teachers in the post‐handover period. One major recommendation is that an awareness of the cultural values of the context is important for any application of foreign methods of teaching.
