Abstract:An efficient and practical procedure for the synthesis of dihydropyrimidinones from aldehydes, 1, 3-dicarbonyl compounds and urea under solvent free reaction condition using zinc triflate as a catalyst is described. In comparison with the classical Biginelli reaction, the yields for this new procedure increased from 20%-50% to 75%-98% while the reaction time was significantly shortened from 18 h to 20 min.

Abstract:A mild, efficient, and environmentally benign one-pot synthesis of functionalized chromeno[4,3-b]pyrrol-4(1H)-ones by a three-component domino reaction of 4-aminocoumarins, arylglyoxal monohydrates, and 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds in refluxing ethanol without the use of catalyst is reported. Abstract:Solventless condensation of a diketone and a hydrazine in the presence of a catalytic amount of sulfuric acid at room temperature afforded pyrazole derivatives 3a-3i and 4g-4i in high yields. The condensation of 2, 4-pentanedione and hydrazides gave similar results, while the reaction between 1-phenylbutane-1,3-dione and hydrazides under the same conditions afforded 4,5-dihydro-5-hydroxypyrazole derivatives 6a and 6b, which can be transformed to 4i (for 6b) or a mixture of 1-acylpyrazole and 3i (4i) (for 6a) by thermolysis in the presence of a catalytic amount of sulfuric acid. Similar reaction of ethyl acetoacetate with phenylhydrazine or hydrazine formed 2-pyrazolin-5-one 8 and 3-pyrazolin-5-one 9, respectively. Reactions of 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazine with 2,4-pentanedione and ethyl acetoacetate yielded hydrazones 10 and 11, respectively.

Abstract:Palladium-catalyzed [4+2] annulation of aryl and alkenyl carboxamides with 1,3-dienes via C–H functionalization is developed using air as the terminal oxidant. The method demonstrates good functional group tolerance and high stereoselectivity, affording a series of 3,4-dihydroisoquinolones and 5,6-dihydropyridinones in yields of up to 99%.

Abstract:Heterogeneous catalysis has been utilized in number of efficient reactions with higher selectivity of the product, more stable, reusable and easy for separation as compared to homogeneous catalysts. Generally, heterogeneous catalysts are prepared by using mesoporous materials, microporous materials, metal oxides and metal organic framework. The mesoporous materials have small particle size and high surface area as compared to the microporous materials. The adsorbent mesoporous materials have highly efficient for the therapeutic applications in chemistry hence it has best as compared to other heterogeneous materials. Herein, we have reported synthesis of 1,4-dihydropyridines and polyhydroquinolines at solvent free and environmental benign condition in the presence of Zn/MCM-41 catalyst. The present protocol gives excellent yield (89–96%) of the product within short reaction time by easy work up procedure and no need of further purification of product. The catalyst was characterized by XRD diffractometer, SEM, EDAX, TGA-DTA, BET surface area analysis and FT-IR Spectroscopy. The synthesized organic compounds were characterized by FT-IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, LC–MS spectrometry.

Abstract:We report here an efficient and green method for Biginelli condensation reaction of aldehydes, β-ketoesters and urea or thiourea catalyzed by Brønsted acidic ionic liquid [Btto][p-TSA] under solvent-free conditions. Compared to the classical Biginelli reaction conditions, the present method has the advantages of giving good yields, short reaction times, near room temperature conditions and the avoidance of the use of organic solvents and metal catalyst.

Abstract:4-Aryl-3, 4-dihydropyrimidinones were synthesized using microwave-assisted, solvent-free protocol of the Biginelli reaction. The simple method provides the title compounds in 78%-95% yields by the reaction of aromatic aldehydes with ethyl acetoacetate and urea/thiourea in the presence of a catalytic amount of conc. HCl Lewis acids, such as ZnCl2, SnCl2, FeCl3 . 6H(2)O, and CuCl2 . 2H(2)O, were also found to be efficient catalysts for the synthesis of dihydropyrimidinones.

Abstract:A one-pot three-component synthesis of dihydropyrimidinones via a molecular iodine-catalyzed tandem reaction of simple readily available mono-substituted urea, alkylaldehyde, and arylaldehyde has been developed. The reaction proceeds with high chemo-and regioselectivity to give highly diverse dihydropyrimidinones in reasonable yields under mild reaction conditions. Moreover, the first catalytic enantioselective version of this reaction was also realized by using chiral spirocyclic SPINOL-phosphoric acids.

Abstract:Nine 3,4-dihydropyrimidin-2(1H)-one derivatives(4a～4i) were synthesized in the pres-ence of deep eutectic solvent, assisting by ultrasonic and using zinc chloride as catalyst.The structures were confirmed by 1H NMR and IR.The reaction conditions, including ultrasonic time, catalyst type and dosage, reaction temperature and molar ratio of raw materials, were optimized using synthesis of 4a as an example.The results indicated that the highest yield of 4a was up to 86.3%under optimal con-ditions[choline chloride/urea as solvent, ZnCl2as catalyst, n(benzaldehyde)/n( acetoacetic ether)/n (urea)＝1.0/0.9/1.0, reaction at 90 ℃for 20 min].

Abstract:[2,2'-Bipyrrolidine]-1,1'-disulfonic acid was easily prepared and recognized as a novel acidic catalyst through the reaction of 2,2'-bipyrrolidine with chlorosulfonic acid in CH 2 Cl 2 at 0–5°C. The size and other properties of the prepared reagent were studied using FT-IR, 1 H, 13 C NMR, SEM, and also TGA analysis. After structural studies the efficiency of this reagent in the preparation of bis-triazoloquinazolinone derivatives via five-component one-pot reaction between bis-aldehydes, β-diketones and 3-amino-1,2,4-triazole was investigated. Operational simpleness, high yields, short reaction times and wide applicability are the key features of this methodology. All new products were characterized by using FT-IR, 1 H, 13 C NMR spectroscopy and elemental analyses.

Abstract:Ytterbium(III) reagent supported on ion exchange resin is applied to the multicomponent condensation reactions under solvent-free conditions. One-pot synthesis of a library of 3,4-dihydropyrimidine-2(1H)-thiones and quinazolin-4(3H)-ones were described. The advantages of easy separation and recyclability of the catalysts were demonstrated.

Abstract:Deep eutectic solvent (ZnCl2/urea) facilitates the condensation of rhodanine or thiazolidine‐2,4‐dione with various aldehydes. The present protocol offers remarkable advantages including quick reaction, high to excellent yield, column free, recyclable solvent and catalyst. The green metrics analysis suggests the present methodology to be eco‐friendly. A greener, safer, and more efficient methodology for the synthesis of (Z)‐5‐benzylidene‐2‐thioxothiazolidin‐4‐ones (3 a–u) and (Z)‐5‐benzylidenethiazolidine‐2,4‐diones (4 a–i) has been developed. The deep eutectic solvent (DES) ZnCl2/urea used as a greener solvent as well as a catalyst in this study accelerated the condensation of rhodanine and thiazolidine‐2,4‐dione with different aldehydes to afford the target scaffolds in excellent yields (88‐98 %). The reaction methodology adopted offered significant advantages such as mild reaction conditions, functional group tolerance, quick reaction time, column‐free isolation, catalytic recyclability, and applicability to gram‐scale production. Moreover, density function theory calculations were carried out to investigate the global reactivity and stability profiles of these compounds. Finally, the green metrics analysis supported the greener nature of the present methodology.

Abstract:A water-tolerant Lewis acidic ionic liquid, [bmim][FeCl 4 ], was found to be an efficient and recyclable catalyst in the synthesis of 4-aryl-dihydropyrimidinones through Biginelli condensation. This method is capable of being scaled up, if desired.

Abstract:A short and facile synthesis of a series of 1,2-dihydroquiazolin-4(3H)-ones was accomplished in good yields via the novel reductive cyclisation of o-nitrobenzamides with aldehydes or ketones promoted by the TiCl4/Sm system. Structures were established on the basis of elemental analysis, IR, H-1 NMR and confirmed by a single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. The advantages of our method are easily accessible starting materials, convenient manipulation and moderate to high yields.

Abstract:The three-component synthesis of pyridazinones from aldehydes, arylhydrazines and 3-acryloyloxazo-lidin-2-one catalyzed by Cu(OTf)2 has been developed.
