Abstract:The design of measuring and controlling unit for intelligent breaker using TMS320LF2407 Digital Signal Processor (DSP) is presented in which the measuring, protection, control, communication and display are integrated, therefore, the microprocessor-based automation of breaker is implemented. This unit also possesses the operation charac-teristics of three-sect current protection and grounding current leakage protection through monitoring the signals of currents and voltages. The modular design is applied to the software and hardware of the unit. As the kernel of measuring and controlling unit, in digital signal processing system the DSP is used and its functional modules, such as signal processing, CPLD, clock and communication interface, are described. In software design the new digital filtering algorithm and the protection algorithm are adopted, the real-time multitasking operation system is applied to the overall architecture and the interrupt flag bits are circularly retrieved in main program. The whole program is divided into two parts, i.e., the main program and the interruption subroutine. The flow chart of main program and partial interruption subroutines are given. The prototype of the unit is put into operation and the desired results are achieved.
