Determination of Total Flavanoid Content in Asparagus Officinalis Linn by Spectrofluorimetry

Abstract:A new method for determining total flavanoid content in Asparagus Officinalis Linn was established based on the reaction of flavanoid with alumimum ion to form fluorescent complex.The sample was extracted with 70% ethanol by reflux and total flavanoid was determined by spectrofluorimetry with rutin as standard sample.The effects of solvent,pH and time on fluorescence intensity were researched.The optimum detection condition was determined.The detection limit was 4.53×10-9 mol/L,the regression equation was Y=50.17+48053.01X(r=0.9939).The method was simple,rapid and accurate with a bright future in analytical applications.Total determination results of flavanoid content in top and bottom part were 1.15mg/g and 0.78mg/g respectively.
