Abstract:A water-soluble salen-Co(III) complex was studied as catalyst for hydration of terminal alkynes to methyl ketones in the presence of H2SO4 as a co-catalyst. The products were obtained with excellent yields using relatively low catalyst loadings and a simple protocol. Notably, the products were easily separated from the catalyst after reaction by extraction, and the catalyst could be recovered and reused with only a slight loss of activity.

Abstract:A three‐component allylic alkylation reaction of α‐diazo ketones, water and allyl carbonate under the cooperative catalysis of Rh2(OAc)4, Pd2(dba)3 and Brønster acid was disclosed. This method provids an expeditious access to α‐keto homoallylic alcohols in good to high yields. Controlled experiments support that the transformations proceed through cross‐interception of two active intermediates Pd‐allyl species and enol intermediates derived from oxonium ylides. Moreover, synthetic transformations of the generated products enable the creation of motifs enriched with dense functional groups, underscoring their potential as valuable building blocks.

Abstract:Allylsamarium bromide, prepared by the reaction of allyl bromide with samarium in THF at room temperature, reacted via 1, 2-addition with alpha, beta-unsaturated aldehydes or ketones to give homoallyl alcohol. The quantitative addition of allylsamarium bromide to alpha, beta-unsaturated ketones is a satisfactory display of regioselectivity. The structures of products were characterized by IR, H-1 NMR and MS spectra.

Abstract:A one-pot dehydration cross-coupling reaction between allyl alcohols and sodium sulfinates that provides allyl sulfones in good to excellent yields is presented. Abstract:A novel mediation system, Zn-InCl3 (cat.)/NH4Cl was employed in the Barbier-type allylation. As a result, the allylation with allyl chloride in water took place smoothly under mild conditions. Various aldehydes and even ketones could be employed to afford the corresponding alcohols in high yields. The stereochemistry of the allylation reactions was also briefly discussed.

Abstract:A novel mediator (Sn/I-2) has been developed and employed in the allylation and crotylation of various aldehydes and ketones with allyl (crotyl) halide in water. With a catalytic amount of I-2 and less than stoichiometric amounts of Sn, allyl (crotyl) bromide reacts with carbonyl compounds to produce the corresponding alcohols in quantitative yield. Even the inert allyl chloride and crotyl chloride can react with aldehydes to give the corresponding alcohols. The diastereoselectivity and regioseletivity of the reaction have also been studied. Sn/I-2 mediated allylations of aldehydes with crotyl bromide produced dominant adducts with minor alpha-isomers while Sn/I-2 mediated allylations of aldehydes with crotyl chloride afforded dominant alpha-adducts with minor gamma-isomers.

Abstract:An efficient tetrakis(triphenylphosphine)palladium and Brønsted acid catalyzed allylic substitution reaction of benzothiazolylacetamide with allylic alcohols in water has been developed, and the corresponding allylated products were afforded in good to excellent (up to 99%) yields with high regioselectivities. This straightforward protocol exhibits good functional group tolerance and scalability.

Abstract:The allylations of a variety of carbonyl compounds were carried out smoothly in the presence of phase transfer catalysts (PTC) when mediated by tin or zinc in distilled water, giving rise to the corresponding homoallylic alcohols in excellent yields. Particularly, for aryl aldehyde, the corresponding allylation products can be obtined quantatively.

Abstract:Asymmetric synthesis of 3-hydroxyl-2-alkanones is achieved via one-pot, tandem organocatalytic aminoxylation of aldehydes and chemoselective CH2N2-induced homologation. Accelerating effect of water is observed in α-aminoxylation. MgCl2, a Lewis acid additive, improves the chemoselectivity of the diazomethane homologation to 6:1 in favor of ketone.

Abstract:Homoallylic ketones are useful intermediates for the synthesis of various compounds, such as drugs and natural products. However, the currently available fabrication methods for homoallylic ketones are environmentally unfriendly and tedious. We herein describe a continuous synthesis of homoallylic ketones from allylic alcohols and dimethyl ketals via ketal–Claisen rearrangement using a column-type flow reactor and a solid-acid catalyst. We have shown that the flow of N2 gas accompanying the reaction solution improved the flow ketal–Claisen rearrangement. Long-term operation (150 h) of the flow ketal–Claisen rearrangement using a column packed with TMEDA-treated SO3H-ZrO2 have been successfully achieved with over 70% yield of homoallylic ketones. We believe our proposed method could prove highly useful in the synthesis of homoallylic ketones.

Abstract:For the first time, the aqueous [5C+1N] annulation of a-alkenoyl ketene dithioacetals and amines for the synthesis of polysubstituted 2,3-dihydropyridin-4(1H)-ones was developed. In boiling water, [5C+1N] annulation of (E)-2-(bis(ethyl-thio) methylene)-3-oxo-N,5-diarylpent-4-enamides 1 and organic amines 2 smoothly occurred, and polysubstituted 2,3-dihydropyridin-4(1H)-ones 3 was obtained in moderate yields.

Abstract:A dehydrative cross-coupling of unactivated allylic alcohols with sulfinic acids was achieved under catalyst-free conditions. This reaction proceeded via allyl sulfination and concomitant allyl sulfinate-sulfone rearrangement. Various allylic sulfones could be obtained in good to excellent yields with water as the only byproduct. This study expands the synthetic toolbox for constructing allylic sulfone molecules.
