A Survey of the Researches on the Post-modern Chinese Culture in the New Millennium

Abstract:In the beginning years of the new Millennium, Chinese scholars undertake studies of post-modernity in the areas of philosophy, law, politics, psychology, literary arts and cultural industries, etc., expanding the research space for the post- Academic circles have acquired a new understanding of the significance of post-modernity, noting that post-modernity is not the simple depreciation of reason. Rather, it is stripping the coverings of modernity and challenging the legitimate justifications of modernity. This article undertakes a survey of the debates in the researches on post-modernity and an analysis of such post-modern radical philosophies like ideas of deconstructive philosophical, post-feminism, pluralism etc. from multiple issues of tradition, modernity and post-modernity. It further probes post-modern politics, sociology and psychology, surveys post-modern issues of politics, sociology, psychology and theology, and explores the aspects of pluralistic discourse from the dimension of post-modern literature and arts, exposing the latest academic path of Chinese researches of the post- studies.
