Abstract:In this work we give a criterion to have an exponential dichotomy over all $\mathbb{R}$ for delayed systems $x'(t)=L(t)x_t$, where $L_{\pm}=\lim_{t\to\pm\infty}L(t)$, and the systems $x'(t)=L_{\pm}x_t$ are autonomous and hyperbolic. The proof is based in a suitable choice of weighted Sobolev spaces $L^p(\mathbb{R},\mu)$ and $W^{1,p}(\mathbb{R},\mu)$, where the involves differential operators become Fredholm's operators and this property are strongly exploited.

Abstract:This paper investigates the problem of exponential stability analysis for discrete-time singular systems with time-varying delay. The delay enters into the singular systems in a random way, and such randomly occurring delay (ROD) obeys a certain Bernoulli distributed white noise sequence. By employing the linear matrix inequality (LMI) approach, a sufficient condition is established to ensure the considered systems exponentially mean-square stable. Two numerical examples are given to show the usefulness of the obtained result.

Qualitative Theory of Dynamical Systems

Abstract:In this manuscript, we discuss the roughness of nonuniform exponential dichotomies on a time scale in a Banach space and give the existence results for nonuniform and uniform exponential dichotomy for the time scale. We extend and unify the previous results by considering the equation on a time scale. For a given linear equation on a time scale, the existence of exponential dichotomy persists under an adequately small variable linear perturbation. To establish the results, we acquire related roughness results for the case of uniform exponential contractions. In the end, a suitable example is given for illustration.

Abstract:The property of exponential dichotomy can be seen as a generalization of the hyperbolicity condition for non autonomous linear finite dimensional systems of ordinary differential equations. In 1978 W.A. Coppel proved that the exponential dichotomy on the half line is equivalent to the property of noncritical uniformity provided that a condition of bounded growth is verified. In 2006 K.J. Palmer extended this result by proving that -- also assuming the bounded growth property -- the exponential dichotomy on the half line, noncritical uniformity and the exponential expansiveness are equivalent. The main contribution of this article is to generalize these results for the property of uniform $h$-dichotomy. This has been carried out due to a recent idea: under suitable conditions any $h$-dichotomy can be associated to a totally ordered topological group, which becomes the additive group $(\mathbb{R},+)$ in case of the exponential dichotomy. The properties of this new group make possible such generalization.

Splitting properties of linear differential systems with small delays

Abstract:We investigate singular perturbation problems caused by small delays in the view of pseudo-exponential dichotomy. For a general linear non-autonomous retarded differential equation with small delay, previous works established the existence of a pseudo-exponential dichotomy. The main objective of this paper is to give a detailed analysis of three splitting properties of this dichotomy. By obtaining serval new estimates and giving the explicit expressions of the bounds and the exponents associated with this dichotomy, we prove that as the delay tends to zero, the spectral gap approaches to infinity, and the angular distance and the separation index associated with this dichotomy are bounded from below by a positive constant which is independent of the delay.

Abstract:For a general discrete dynamics on a Banach and Hilbert spaces we give necessary and sufficient conditions of the existence of bounded solutions under assumption that the homogeneous difference equation admits an discrete dichotomy on the semi-axes. We consider the so called resonance (critical) case when the uniqueness of solution is disturbed. We show that admissibility can be reformulated in the terms of generalized or pseudo-invertibility. As an application we consider the case when the corresponding dynamical system is e-trichotomy.

Abstract:We establish the equivalence of admissibility and hyperbolicity for a nonautonomous delay equation. We consider a large class of admissible pairs of Banach spaces defined in terms of admissible spaces satisfying certain general properties. This required various nontrivial modifications of the existing theory, such as a delicate choice of perturbations to obtain the stable and unstable spaces of an exponential dichotomy.

Abstract:In this paper, we introduce generalized dichotomies for nonautonomous random linear dynamical systems acting on arbitrary Banach spaces, and obtain their complete characterization in terms of an appropriate admissibility property. These generalized dichotomies are associated to growth rates satisfying mild conditions and they include the standard exponential behavior as a very particular case. As a nontrivial application, we establish the robustness property of such dichotomies under small (linear) perturbations.

Abstract:We demonstrate that standard delay systems with a linear instantaneous and a delayed nonlinear term show weak chaos, asymptotically subdiffusive behavior, and weak ergodicity breaking if the nonlinearity is chosen from a specific class of functions. In the limit of large constant delay times, anomalous behavior may not be observable due to exponentially large crossover times. A periodic modulation of the delay causes a strong reduction of the effective dimension of the chaotic phases, leads to hitherto unknown types of solutions, and the occurrence of anomalous diffusion already at short times. The observed anomalous behavior is caused by non-hyperbolic fixed points in function space.

Abstract:In A. Czornik et al. [ Spectra based on Bohl exponents and Bohl dichotomy for non-autonomous difference equations , J. Dynam. Differ. Equ. (2023)] the concept of Bohl dichotomy is introduced which is a notion of hyperbolicity for linear non-autonomous difference equations that is weaker than the classical concept of exponential dichotomy. In the class of systems with bounded invertible coefficient matrices which have bounded inverses, we study the relation between the set BD of systems with Bohl dichotomy and the set ED of systems with exponential dichotomy. It can be easily seen from the definition of Bohl dichotomy that ED⊆BD . Using a counterexample we show that the closure of ED is not contained in BD . The main result of this paper is the characterization int⁡BD=ED . The proof uses upper triangular normal forms of systems which are dynamically equivalent and utilizes a diagonal argument to choose subsequences of perturbations each of which is constructed with the Millionshikov Rotation Method. An Appendix describes the Millionshikov Rotation Method in the context of non-autonomous difference equations as a universal tool.

Abstract:We consider delay differential equations with a polynomially distributed delay. We derive an equivalent system of delay differential equations, which includes just two discrete delays. The stability of the equivalent system and its stationary solutions are investigated. Alternatively, a Gaussian quadrature generates a discretisation of the integral, which describes the distributed delay in the original delay differential equation. This technique yields an approximate differential equation with multiple discrete delays. We present results of numerical computations, where initial value problems of the differential equations are solved. Therein, the two approaches are compared.

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate differential equations with generalized piecewise constant delay, DEGPCD in short, and establish the existence and stability of a unique almost periodic solution that is exponentially stable. Our results are derived by utilizing the properties of the (μ1,μ2)-exponential dichotomy, Cauchy and Green matrices, a Gronwall-type inequality for DEGPCD, and the Banach fixed point theorem. We apply these findings to derive new criteria for the existence, uniqueness, and convergence dynamics of almost periodic solutions in both the linear inhomogeneous and quasilinear DEGPCD systems through the (μ1,μ2)-exponential dichotomy for difference equations. These results are novel and serve to recover, extend, and improve upon recent research.

Abstract:Under the condition of nonuniformly bounded growth, %nonuniform exponential dichotomy spectrum for nonautonomous linear system is proposed the relationship of the nonuniform exponential dichotomy spectrum and the other two classical spectrums (the Lyapunov spectrum and Sacker-Sell spectrum) is given, and the stability of these spectrums under small linear perturbations are summarized and presented in this paper. A main goal of this paper is to discuss the theory for the computation of these spectrums under the condition of nonuniformly bounded growth, and this extends the work of Dieci and Vleck \cite{dv-02}, which compute the Lyapunov spectrum and Sacker-Sell spectrum under the condition of bounded. Finally, an example is given to illustrate and verify the theoretical results.

Abstract:We extend the definition of algebraic entropy to a class of differential-delay equations. The vanishing of the entropy, as a structural property of an equation, signals its integrability. We suggest a simple way to produce differential-delay equations with vanishing entropy from known integrable differential-difference equations.

Abstract:In this note, we analyze an abstract evolution equation with time-dependent time delay and time-dependent delay feedback coefficient. We assume that the operator corresponding to the nondelayed part of the model generates an exponentially stable semigroup. Under an appropriate assumption on the delay feedback, we prove the well-posedness and an exponential stability estimate for our model. Applications of our abstract results to concrete models are also illustrated.
