Abstract:In this note, we explain that Ross-Thomas' result [4, Theorem 1.7] on the weighted Bergman kernels on orbifolds can be directly deduced from our previous result [1]. This result plays an important role in the companion paper [5] to prove an orbifold version of Donaldson theorem.

Abstract:Elliptic genus was derived as the partition function in quantum field theory [26]. Mathematically it is the beautiful combination of topology of manifolds, index theory and modular forms (cf. [15], [10]). Elliptic genus for smooth manifolds has been well-studied. Recently, Borisov and Libgober ([3], [4]) proposed some definitions of elliptic genus for certain singular spaces, especially for complex orbifolds which is a global quotient M/G, here the finite group G acts holomorphically on complex variety M . Similar definitions have been introduced by string theorists in the 80s, in the study of orbifold string theory. One of their guiding principles is the modular invariance. More recently orbifold string theory has attracted the attention of geometers and topologists. For example Chen and Ruan (cf. [7], [22]) have defined orbifold cohomology and orbifold quantum cohomology groups. One of most important properties for elliptic genus is its rigidity property under compact Lie group action. For smooth manifolds, the rigidity and its generalizations have been well studied. Since orbifold elliptic genus is the partition function of orbifold string theory, it is natural to expect the rigidity property for orbifold elliptic genus. Although the global quotients from a very important class of orbifolds, many interesting orbifolds are not global quotients. For example, most of the Calabi-Yau hypersurfaces of weighted projective spaces are not global quotients. In this paper we define elliptic genus for general orbifolds which generalizes the definition of Borisov and Libgober, and prove their rigidity property. We actually introduce the more general elliptic genus involving twisted bundles and proved its rigidity. The idea of considering the weights in the definition of orbifold elliptic genus comes from [4] and our proof of the K-theory version of Witten rigidity theorems [21, §4]. The proof of the rigidity is again a combination of modular invariance and the index theory. Only more complicated combinatorics are involved in the definition and the proof. This paper is organized as follows: In Sections 1 and 2 we review the equivariant index theorem on orbifolds. We define orbifold elliptic genus and prove its rigidity for almost complex orbifolds in Section 3. Finally in Section 4 we introduce orbifold elliptic genus for spin orbifolds, and will study its rigidity property on a later occasion. Abstract:We use equivariant methods to define and study the orbifold K-theory of an orbifold X. Adapting techniques from equivariant K-theory, we construct a Chern character and exhibit a multiplicative decomposition for K * orb (X)⊗ℚ, in particular showing that it is additively isomorphic to the orbifold cohomology of X. A number of examples are provided. We then use the theory of projective representations to define the notion of twisted orbifold K–theory in the presence of discrete torsion. An explicit expression for this is obtained in the case of a global quotient.
The hard Lefschetz duality for locally conformally almost Kähler manifolds

Abstract:We prove the hard Lefschetz duality for locally conformally almost Kähler manifolds. This is a generalization of that for almost Kähler manifolds studied by Cirici and Wilson. We generalize the Kähler identities to prove the duality. Based on the result, we introduce the hard Lefschetz condition for locally conformally symplectic manifolds. As examples, we give solvmanifolds which do not satisfy the hard Lefschetz condition.

Abstract:An introduction to the theory of orbifolds from a modern perspective, combining techniques from geometry, algebraic topology and algebraic geometry. One of the main motivations, and a major source of examples, is string theory, where orbifolds play an important role. The subject is first developed following the classical description analogous to manifold theory, after which the book branches out to include the useful description of orbifolds provided by groupoids, as well as many examples in the context of algebraic geometry. Classical invariants such as de Rham cohomology and bundle theory are developed, a careful study of orbifold morphisms is provided, and the topic of orbifold K-theory is covered. The heart of this book, however, is a detailed description of the Chen-Ruan cohomology, which introduces a product for orbifolds and has had significant impact. The final chapter includes explicit computations for a number of interesting examples.

Abstract:Friedlander and Mazur proposed a conjecture of hard Lefschetz type on Lawson homology. We shall relate this conjecture to Suslin conjecture on Lawson homology. For abelian varieties, this conjecture is shown to be equivalent to a vanishing conjecture of Beauville type on Lawson homology. For symmetric products of curves, we show that this conjecture amounts to the vanishing conjecture of Beauville type for the Jacobians of the corresponding curves. As a consequence, Suslin conjecture holds for all symmetric products of curves with genus at most 2.

Abstract:Recently, Cappelletti-Montano, De Nicola, and Yudin proved a Hard Lefschetz theorem for the De Rham cohomology of compact Sasakian manifolds, and proposed an associated notion of Lefschetz contact manifolds. Inspired by their work, we prove in this paper a Hard Lefschetz theorem for compact K-contact manifolds using the formalism of odd dimensional symplectic geometry. This result leads directly to a new, conceptually different proof of the above mentioned Hard Lefschetz theorem for Sasakian manifolds, and allows us to establish a sufficient and necessary condition for a finitely presentable group to be the fundamental group of a compact Lefschetz contact five manifold. We then use it to produce first examples of compact Lefschetz contact manifolds which do not support any Sasakian structures. To demonstrate the full strength of the Hard Lefschetz theorem for a Sasakian manifold, we also give a simple construction of simplyconnected K-contact manifolds without any Sasakian structures in any dimension ≥ 9. This in particular answers an open question asked by Boyer and late Galicki concerning the existence of such examples.
A Poincar{é}-Lefschetz Theorem for Cellular Cosheaves and an Application to the Tropical Homology of Orbifold Toric Varieties

Abstract:In a first time we present a version of the Poincar{é}-Lefschetz theorem for certain cellular cosheaves on a particular subdivision of a CW-complex K. To that end we construct a cellular sheaf on K whose cohomology with compact support is isomorphic to the homology of the initial cosheaf. In a second time we use the first result to generalise the tropical version of the Lefschetz hyperplane section theorem to singular tropical toric varieties and singular tropical hypersurfaces.

Abstract: We study the positivity of complete intersections of nef classes. We first give a sufficient and necessary characterization on the complete intersection classes which have hard Lefschetz property on a compact complex torus, equivalently, in the linear case. In turn, this provides us new kinds of cohomology classes which have Hodge-Riemann property or hard Lefschetz property on an arbitrary compact K\"ahler manifold. We also give a complete characterization on when the complete intersection classes are non-vanishing on an arbitrary compact K\"ahler manifold. Both characterizations are given by the numerical dimensions of various partial summations of the given nef classes. As an interesting byproduct, we show that the numerical dimension endows any finite set of nef classes with a loopless polymatroid structure.

Abstract:Hypertoric varieties are hyperkähler analogues of toric varieties, and are constructed as abelian hyperkähler quotients of a quaternionic affine space. Just as symplectic toric orbifolds are determined by labelled polytopes, orbifold hypertoric varieties are intimately related to the combinatorics of hyperplane arrangements. By developing hyperkähler analogues of symplectic techniques developed by Goldin, Holm, and Knutson, we give an explicit combinatorial description of the Chen-Ruan orbifold cohomology of an orbifold hypertoric variety in terms of the combinatorial data of a rational cooriented weighted hyperplane arrangement. We detail several explicit examples, including some computations of orbifold Betti numbers (and Euler characteristics).

Local index theorem for orbifold Riemann surfaces

Abstract:We derive a local index theorem in Quillen's form for families of Cauchy-Riemann operators on orbifold Riemann surfaces (or Riemann orbisurfaces) that are quotients of the hyperbolic plane by the action of cofinite finitely generated Fuchsian groups. Each conical point (or a conjugacy class of primitive elliptic elements in the Fuchsian group) gives rise to an extra term in the local index theorem that is proportional to the symplectic form of a new Kähler metric on the moduli space of Riemann orbisurfaces. We find a simple formula for a local Kähler potential of the elliptic metric and show that when the order of elliptic element becomes large, the elliptic metric converges to the cuspidal one corresponding to a puncture on the orbisurface (or a conjugacy class of primitive parabolic elements). We also give a simple example of a relation between the elliptic metric and special values of Selberg's zeta function.

Abstract:As is well known, the Lefschetz theorems for the étale fundamental group of quasi-projective varieties do not hold. We fill a small gap in the literature showing they do for the tame fundamental group. Let XX be a regular projective variety over a field kk, and let D↪XD\hookrightarrow X be a strict normal crossings divisor. Then, if YY is an ample regular hyperplane intersecting DD transversally, the restriction functor from tame étale coverings of X∖DX\setminus D to those of Y∖D∩YY\setminus D\cap Y is an equivalence if dimension X≥3X \geq 3, and is fully faithful if dimension X=2X=2. The method is dictated by work of Grothendieck and Murre (1971). They showed that one can lift tame coverings from Y∖D∩YY\setminus D\cap Y to the complement of D∩YD\cap Y in the formal completion of XX along YY. One has then to further lift to X∖DX\setminus D.

Abstract:We prove that the wreath product orbifolds studied earlier by the first author provide a large class of higher dimensional examples of orbifolds whose orbifold Hodge numbers coincide with the ordinary ones of suitable resolutions of singularities. We also make explicit conjectures on elliptic genera for the wreath product orbifolds.
On L-equivalence for K3 surfaces and hyperkähler manifolds

Abstract:This paper explores the relationship between L-equivalence and D-equivalence for K3 surfaces and hyperkähler manifolds. Building on Efimov's approach using Hodge theory, we prove that very general L-equivalent K3 surfaces are D-equivalent, leveraging the Derived Torelli Theorem for K3 surfaces. Our main technical contribution is that two distinct lattice structures on an integral, irreducible Hodge structure are related by a rational endomorphism of the Hodge structure. We partially extend our results to hyperkähler fourfolds and moduli spaces of sheaves on K3 surfaces.
