Abstract:This paper shows that the integral equivariant cohomology Chern numbers completely determine the equivariant geometric unitary bordism classes of closed unitary $G$-manifolds, which gives an affirmative answer to the conjecture posed by Guillemin--Ginzburg--Karshon in [20, Remark H.5, $\S3$, Appendix H], where $G$ is a torus. As a further application, we also obtain a satisfactory solution of [20, Question (A), $\S1.1$, Appendix H] on unitary Hamiltonian $G$-manifolds. Our key ingredients in the proof are the universal toric genus defined by Buchstaber--Panov--Ray and the Kronecker pairing of bordism and cobordism. Our approach heavily exploits Quillen's geometric interpretation of homotopic unitary cobordism theory. Moreover, this method can also be applied to the study of $({\Bbb Z}_2)^k$-equivariant unoriented bordism and can still derive the classical result of tom Dieck.

Abstract:Motivated by Witten’s work, we propose a K -theoretic Verlinde/Grassmannian correspondence which relates the GL Verlinde numbers to the K -theoretic quasimap invariants of the Grassmannian. We recover these two types of invariants by imposing different stability conditions on the gauged linear sigma model associated with the Grassmannian. We construct two families of stability conditions connecting the two theories and prove two wall-crossing results. We confirm the Verlinde/Grassmannian correspondence in the rank two case.
The geometric fundamental group of the affine line over a finite field

Abstract:The affine line and the punctured affine line over a finite field F are taken as benchmarks for the problem of describing geometric étale fundamental groups. To this end, using a reformulation of Tannaka duality we construct for a projective variety X a (non-commutative) universal affine pro-algebraic group Lu(X), such that for any given affine subvariety U of X any finite and étale Galois covering of U over F is a pull-back of a Galois covering of a quotient Lu(X,U) of Lu(X). Then the geometric fundamental group of U is a completion of the k-points of Lu(X,U), where k is an algebraic closure of F. We obtain explicit descriptions of the universal affine groups Lu(X,U) for U the affine line and the punctured affine line over F.

An automorphic description of the zeta function of the basic stratum of certain Kottwitz varieties

Abstract:We derive formulas for the number of points on the basic stratum of certain Kottwitz varieties in terms of automorphic representations and certain explicit polynomials, for which we present efficient algorithms for computation. We obtain our results using the trace formula, base change, representations of general linear groups over p-adic fields, and a truncation of the formula of Kottwitz for the number of points on Shimura varieties over finite fields.

Abstract:In this paper we prove motivic versions of the Langlands-Shelstad Fundamental Lemma and Ngô's Geometric Stabilization. To achieve this, we follow the strategy from the recent proof by Groechenig, Wyss and Ziegler which avoided the use of perverse sheaves using instead $p$-adic integration and Tate duality. Abstract:In this paper we prove a conjecture of Kudla and Rallis. Let $\chi$ be a unitary character, $s\in \mathbb{C}$ and $W$ a symplectic vector space over a non-archimedean field with symmetry group $G(W)$. Denote by $I(\chi,s)$ the degenerate principal series representation of $G(W\oplus W)$. Pulling back $I(\chi,s)$ along the natural embedding $G(W)\times G(W)\hookrightarrow G(W\oplus W)$ gives a representation $I_{W,W}(\chi,s)$ of $G(W)\times G(W)$. Let $\pi$ be an irreducible smooth complex representation of $G(W)$. We then prove \[\dim _\mathbb{C}\mathrm{Hom}_{G(W)\times G(W)}(I_{W,W}(\chi,s),\pi\otimes \pi^\lor)=1.\] We also give analogous statements for $W$ orthogonal or unitary. This gives in particular a new proof of the conservation relation of the local Theta correspondence for symplectic-orthogonal and unitary dual pairs.

Abstract:In recent years, a version of enumerative geometry over arbitrary fields has been developed and studied by Kass-Wickelgren, Levine, and others, in which the counts obtained are not integers but quadratic forms. Aiming to understand the relation to other "refined invariants", and especially their possible interpretation in quantum theory, we explain how to obtain a quadratic version of Donaldson-Thomas invariants from the motivic invariants defined in the work of Kontsevich and Soibelman and pose some questions. We calculate these invariants in a few simple examples that provide standard tests for these questions, including degree zero invariants of $\mathbb A^3$ and higher-genus Gopakumar-Vafa invariants recently studied by Liu and Ruan. The comparison with known real and complex counts plays a central role throughout.

Then we formulate the Arithmetic Fundamental Lemma conjecture for the spherical Hecke algebra. We also formulate a conjecture on the abundance of spherical Hecke functions with identically vanishing first derivative of orbital integrals. Abstract:We show that for smooth complex projective varieties the most general combinations of chern numbers that are invariant under the K-equivalence relation consist of the complex elliptic genera.
